OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the results of the open repair of ruptured thoracic and thoracoabdominal aortic aneurysms.
METHODS: From January 1997, a total of 100 consecutive open repairs of ruptured thoracic or thoracoabdominal aortic aneurysms were performed (43 thoracic and 57 thoracoabdominal). These patients were compared with contemporary cases that underwent repair of corresponding intact aneurysms. Propensity matching analysis was used to neutralize the differences in baseline characteristics.

Duodenal diverticula are relatively common and usually asymptomatic (95%). Their perforation is a rare but harmful event. Traumatic perforation is exceptional. We report the case of a patient with such a lesion following a blunt trauma secondary to a car accident, and review the literature. Clinical presentation is aspecific and diagnosis is based upon CT scan imaging. Surgery is the recommended treatment consisting of diverticulectomy with transverse duodenal closure of the duodenum associated with retroperitoneal drainage.

Ectopic pregnancy is one of the most important causes of maternal mortality in first trimester pregnancy. Several etiologic factors are suspected for ectopic pregnancy. Fertility-saving surgery in ectopic pregnancy is associated with recurrent ectopic pregnancy. Most common site of ectopic pregnancy is in the fallopian tube, especially in the ampullar region. Ruptured aneurysms of anterior inferior cerebellar artery (AICA) after radiotherapy for vestibular schwannoma (VS) are rare, and no definite treatment has been established for distal AICA pseudoaneurysms. Ruptured subclavian artery aneurysm (SAA) is extremely rare and it can cause a life-threatening condition. We described an elderly patient with ruptured SAA who underwent endovascular treatment successfully. We present the rare case of a ruptured choledochal cyst (CC) in a young woman presenting with a two-day history of worsening upper abdominal pain. Imaging revealed a contracted gallbladder, dilated common bile duct (CBD), and a large amount of peritoneal fluid. Percutaneous paracentesis was performed, obtaining bilious fluid.
