Leveraging the Technology Acceptance Model to Understand User Adoption of Virtual Influencers: The Role of Perceived Authenticity and Anthropomorphism.

Virtual Influencers (VIs) are increasingly becoming pivotal players on short-video applications such as TikTok, YouTube Shorts, and Instagram Reels. While previous research has explored VIs in terms of anthropomorphism, authenticity, and consumer interaction, most prior work has focused on Instagram datasets or content analysis without adopting a systematic behavioral framework. To address these limitations, this study utilizes the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) to examine how Perceived Usefulness (PU) and Perceived Ease of Use (PEOU) influence user Attitude and Behavioral Intention toward

The Brain Vulnerability Index: Development and Validation of a Machine Learning-Derived, Community-Informed Geospatial Risk Score for Cognitive Impairment.

BACKGROUND: Social determinants of health (SDOH) are increasingly recognized as important contributors to cognitive impairment, including Alzheimer's disease and related dementias. Existing indices are heavily weighted toward financial indicators and are not validated against cognitive outcomes. We aimed to develop and validate a novel brain-specific SDOH index that identifies high-risk communities for cognitive impairment. METHODS: The Brain Vulnerability Index (BVI) integrates patient-level electronic health record data with neighborhood-level SDOH from the Community Vulnerability Compass,

Dental pain inequalities in two cross-sectional national oral health surveys.

OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the socioeconomic position (SEP) inequalities in dental pain prevalence in Brazil between 2010 and 2023. METHODS: Data from two Brazilian National Oral Health Surveys (2010, n = 37,519; 2023, n = 40,720) were analyzed. The outcome was self-reported dental pain in the last six months. SEP was modeled as a latent variable using household income, household goods, educational attainment, and housing density. Inequalities were measured using the Slope Index of Inequality (SII) and the Concentration Index of Inequality (CIX) across age groups (5y, 12y, 15-19y, 35-44y, 65-74y)

Air quality and health co-benefits of bus electrification: evidence from a UK metropolitan area.

Air pollution in cities is a critical environmental and public health concern, where achieving legal limit values and progress towards WHO health-based guidelines may be challenging. Transportation is one of the leading causes of air pollution in urban areas, and hence public transportation systems such as low / zero tailpipe emission buses play a crucial role in reducing toxic emissions to air, and improving sustainable mobility and social connectivity. In addition, as combustion emissions from transport also negatively impact the climate, a move to transportation systems that can be powered

Oral Health Preventive Knowledge and Behaviors in Relation to Caries Status Among Iraqi Dental Students: A Cross-Sectional Study.

Introduction Knowledge and attitudes toward oral health, shaped by personal experiences, social context, family traditions, life events, and health education programs, are fundamental determinants of oral health behaviors. This relationship is mediated by beliefs, values, and skills, whereby individuals with sufficient knowledge and positive attitudes are more likely to engage in effective self-care practices.  Aim This study aims to assess the relationship between dental students' oral health knowledge and behaviors and their caries level. Materials and methods The study subjects in this cros

Baseline facial emotion recognition is associated with clinical decline across the Alzheimer's disease spectrum: a multi-instrument longitudinal assessment study.

BACKGROUND: Facial emotion recognition (FER) is increasingly recognized as a functionally relevant domain in the Alzheimer's disease (AD) spectrum, yet whether baseline FER is associated with subsequent clinical decline remains insufficiently established. METHODS: We studied 328 participants [subjective cognitive decline (SCD) n = 94, mild cognitive impairment (MCI) n = 142, AD dementia n = 92] from a longitudinal memory clinic cohort; 148 had follow-up assessments (mean 1.59 ± 0.67 years). FER was assessed using the Korean version of the Florida Affect Battery (K-FAB; five subtests, FER_mean

Strategies used by organizations to scale deep: Lessons from a volunteer navigation intervention.

BACKGROUND: We know little about how non-profit organizations create the conditions within their communities that support sustainable change - a process that has been referred to as scaling deep. In this paper we explore the implementation of a volunteer community-based navigation program, within 46 community-based organizations, to better understand how organizations seek to create the cultural and relational conditions to support sustainable change. OBJECTIVE: To examine the strategies organizations used to scale deeply during a volunteer navigation (Nav-CARE) program implementation. DESIG

Reducing public stigma toward people with mental illness through the ACE intervention: a cluster-randomized waitlist-controlled trial.

BACKGROUND: Mental illness stigma remains a major barrier to mental health in many parts of the world, including China, where public stigma is particularly pervasive among university students. The Acceptance and Commitment to Empowerment intervention (ACE), an integration of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Group Empowerment Psychoeducation, was adapted and piloted in a Chinese university context. This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of the ACE intervention in reducing both explicit and implicit public stigma toward people with mental illness among Chinese university students.

The Medicine Success fund: financial support for widening participation medical students improves wellbeing and increases sense of belonging.

BACKGROUND: UK medicine is an elite profession engaging in widening participation (WP) efforts to diversify the workforce so as to better represent the society it serves, and thus, enhance patient care. Despite years of sector-wide efforts, medical students and doctors from disadvantaged socio-economic backgrounds remain minoritised in medicine. WP activities primarily focus on increasing access to medical degrees, while widening success for WP students once at university is underexplored or addressed. Socio-economic disadvantage shapes the experiences of WP medical students, who face unique f

The need for long-term support: Five-year outcomes after severe injury in older adults.

BACKGROUND: While the short-term risks of severe injury among older adults (age≥65) are well studied, little is known about long-term functional outcomes in this population. This knowledge gap impacts clinicians' ability to counsel patients and provide care aligned with their values. Our objective was to evaluate the association between severe injury and the likelihood of an older adult remaining alive and living in their own home five years later. METHODS: This was a retrospective, matched, population-based cohort study using administrative health data in a large regional trauma system (2006

Empowering Patients: The Role of Shared Treatment Decision-Making in Advanced Bladder Cancer-A Podcast.

Shared treatment decision-making refers to an approach to care in which patients and their clinicians work in partnership to choose between treatment options, or delay/forgo treatment, concordant with patient values and considering the best available evidence. Research in various diseases, including cancer, has shown that patients who feel informed in treatment decisions have greater satisfaction with their medical care, better adherence to treatment, and better quality-of-life outcomes. The treatment landscape for advanced bladder cancer has evolved in recent years and several treatment optio

Centring the voices of birth mothers who faced infant removal through the co-production of the MUMS@RISC artwork: an arts-based evaluation of trauma-informed research collaboration and participation.

BACKGROUND: In the UK, newborn babies are a growing group of children entering the care system due to safeguarding concerns. Their mothers often experienced a life course of adversity and trauma, resulting in fractured trust in public services and health and social care professionals. Moreover, pregnant and postnatal women with involvement from child protection agencies are known to have increased risk of perinatal morbidity and mortality. To address the existing evidence gaps around perinatal healthcare and outcomes for this group of women, the MUMS@RISC study was designed, with cyclical invo
