Relying on passive, traditional methods in anatomy education hinders deep understanding, whereas adopting active and creative teaching strategies fosters engagement and improves outcomes. Achieving deep immersion and sustained engagement in learning anatomy through learner-centered and active teaching strategies allows learners to understand complex spatial and functional relationships better. Therefore, this study aimed to examine the effect of drawing-based instruction on learning outcomes and the academic flow of medical students in the cardiovascular and respiratory system anatomy course.

OBJECTIVE: Given the issues of knowledge fragmentation and insufficient clinical reasoning associated with traditional linear pathology teaching, this study developed and evaluated a "case-driven, knowledge-graph-supported" curriculum restructuring model. The model was designed to shift the instructional approach from a discipline‑centric logic toward a clinical diagnostic reasoning framework.
METHODS: Fifty-four five-year clinical medicine undergraduates at Peking University Health Science Center participated. Using clinical cases as the organizing framework, the "Urinary System Pathology" c

BACKGROUND: Special care dentistry (SCD) addresses the oral health needs of individuals whose disabilities, medical complexities, or social circumstances limit access to dental care. With rapid population ageing and a high disability prevalence, the Asia-Pacific region faces a growing demand for dentists competent in managing patients requiring special care. For the majority of patients requiring special care, routine basic dental care is helmed by the general dentist. While the International Association for Disability and Oral Health (iADH) has published undergraduate curriculum guidance for

AIM: The primary objective of this clinical study was to analyse, through physiological and psychological parameters, undergraduate dental student stress during the management of deep compared with moderate carious lesions. Additional objectives aimed to compare student confidence, anxiety and satisfaction during deep and moderate caries management and their perception of the quality of teaching they received regarding these treatments.
METHODOLOGY: In this crossover study, 35 clinical students treated deep and moderate caries on permanent vital teeth in adult patients with no history of spon

Objectives The objective of this study is to evaluate osteopathic medical students' self-reported research experiences, skill levels, and professional goals. This study specifically aimed to assess how students perceive their readiness to engage in research, explore the barriers they face in translating motivation into scholarly productivity, and identify which research tasks students feel most and least confident performing. These findings aim to clarify the disconnect between strong research motivation and limited output and to inform future efforts to improve research engagement among osteo

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES: In the United States, many child neurologists (CNs) and neurodevelopmental disability (NDD) specialists who read EEGs in clinical practice had no additional EEG training other than what was received during residency. This practice highlights the importance of ensuring that CN/NDD residents achieve EEG competence before graduation. However, prior survey-based evidence showed that roughly a third of graduating CN residents in the United States do not feel confident interpreting EEGs independently. As part of a needs assessment, we conducted a descriptive study characte

BACKGROUND: The heel is the prominence at the posterior end of the foot. It is based on the projection of one bone, the calcaneus or heel bone, behind the articulation of the bones of the lower leg. Foot pain is not rare finding in the general population, particularly in older adults. The prevalence in adults ages ≥18 year's ranges from 17 to 24%. Heel pain is a general term used to describe pain and discomfort felt anywhere in or around the rear of the foot. This study aimed to estimate the prevalence of heel and foot pain and their determinants among teachers in Abha sector.

OBJECTIVE: To measure rates of long-acting reversible contraception (LARC), including intrauterine devices and contraceptive implants, and tubal sterilization during delivery hospitalizations and correlates of their use.
METHODS: This retrospective cohort study used the 2008-2013 National Inpatient Sample, a publicly available all-payer database. We identified delivery hospitalizations with the International Classification of Diseases, 9th Revision, Clinical Modification codes for intrauterine device insertion, contraceptive implant insertion, and tubal sterilization. BACKGROUND: Hepatitis B virus (HBV) is a major cause of chronic hepatitis, liver cirrhosis, and hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). HB vaccination is an essential step in the prevention of the disease and its consequent complications.
OBJECTIVES: Immune status of medical personnel in teaching hospitals of Khuzestan is not well known. Since these personnel are usually at risk of needle stick and other high-risk events, some challenges exist in infection control committee with regard to managing these events. This study was conducted to assess post-vaccination immunity status and non-response to HB

BACKGROUND: Digital transformation is increasingly reshaping healthcare delivery worldwide; however, the adoption of digital health systems in developing and resource-constrained economies remains constrained by infrastructural limitations, poor alignment with clinical workflows, inadequate user involvement, and resistance to organizational change. Many digital healthcare initiatives in these settings continue to experience implementation and sustainability challenges, partly due to the absence of context-specific and evidence-based transformation models. Consequently, this study aimed to deve

BACKGROUND: In recent years, the emphasis on quality improvement (QI), evidence-based practice (EBP), and knowledge translation (KT) in the education of health professionals has increased. Efforts have been made to identify commonalities between quality improvement and implementation science. However, the development of curricula that encompass these approaches remains poorly understood. Consequently, this study examines the implementation of a novel teaching module in quality improvement and evidence-based practice, designed for health sciences master’s students. The objective was to explore

BACKGROUND: The impact of an appropriate use of antibiotics on the prevention of antimicrobial resistance (AMR) has been demonstrated. Surveys have shown, however, that medical students do not feel sufficiently trained to use antibiotics wisely. The aims of our study were (1) to describe what medical students currently know about appropriate antibiotic use, and (2) to identify students' learning preferences as a basis for developing student-centred teaching modules to convey the basics of AMR prevention.
METHODS: We performed an online survey at Charité Universitätsmedizin Berlin and the Juli

OBJECTIVE: To examine the incidence and risk factors of in-hospital prosthesis-related complications (PRCs) following total knee arthroplasty (TKA) using a large-scale national database.
METHODS: A retrospective database analysis was performed based on Nationwide Inpatient Sample (NIS) from 2005-2014. Patients who underwent TKA were included. The recruited cases were divided into two groups according to the occurrence of PRCs. Patient demographics (age, sex, and race), hospital characteristics (type of admission and payer, and bedsize, teaching status, location, and region of hospital), lengt

Spinal infections are a diverse group of diseases affecting different compartments of the spine with variable clinical and imaging presentations. Diagnosis of spinal infections is based on a combination of clinical features, laboratory markers, and imaging studies. Imaging plays a pivotal role in the diagnosis and management of spinal infections. The characteristic imaging manifestations of bacterial and viral infections in the spine are discussed with key teaching points emphasized.
