Comparative Outcomes of Stress Echocardiography and CT Coronary Angiography in the Assessment of Suspected Coronary Artery Disease: A Pilot Study.

Stress echocardiography (SE) detects myocardial ischemia while coronary computed tomography angiography (CCTA) detects structural abnormalities associated with coronary artery disease (CAD). A pilot retrospective study of 270 consecutive patients who underwent both SE and CCTA to explore which test is more accurate in patients with CAD. Health records and risk factors, SE, and CCTA outcomes were reviewed. SE outcomes were positive (n = 36) and negative (n = 234); CCTA outcomes were based on CAD severity (absent, mild, moderate, and severe). 219 (81.1%) patients had a positive CCTA, indicating

Unlocking the Potential of Vessel Density and the Foveal Avascular Zone in Optical Coherence Tomography Angiography as Biomarkers in Alzheimer's Disease.

Alzheimer's disease is the most prevalent form of dementia. Apart from its traditional clinical diagnostic methods, novel ocular imaging biomarkers have the potential to significantly enhance the diagnosis of Alzheimer's disease. Ophthalmologists might be able to play a crucial role in this multidisciplinary approach, aiding in the early detection and diagnosis of Alzheimer's disease through the use of advanced retinal imaging techniques. This systematic literature review the utilization of optical coherence tomography angiography biomarkers, specifically vessel density and the foveal avascula

Right Atrial Rupture on CT Angiography in a Patient Receiving Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation: A Case Report.

Cardiac rupture is a rare but fatal complication among patients undergoing cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR). Myocardial rupture can manifest as a discontinuity in the myocardial wall, communication between the ventricle or atrium and the pericardium, hemopericardium, or active extravasation of contrast into the pericardium. It can also occur alongside pericardial rupture or hemothorax. Diagnosing myocardial rupture via imaging is uncommon due to its clinical urgency and high mortality rate. We present a rare case of a 50-year-old man who developed a right atrial rupture, as seen on CT angio

Single center experience in localization of insulinoma by selective intraarterial calcium stimulation angiography - a case series of 15 years.

BACKGROUND: Insulinomas are rare insulin-secreting neuroendocrine neoplasms of the pancreas. First-line treatment is the surgical removal of the tumor, however, the localization with standard imaging techniques is often challenging. With the help of selective intraarterial calcium stimulation the insulinoma's localization can be narrowed down to one third of the pancreas which the selected artery supplies. OBJECTIVE: We aimed to prove the usefulness of the calcium stimulation test in case of 9 patients treated between 2006 and 2021 diagnosed with endogenous hyperinsulinemic hypoglycemia confi

Association between Arterial Stiffness, Carbamylation, and Mortality in Patients Undergoing Coronary Angiography with No or Mild Chronic Kidney Disease.

INTRODUCTION: The processes of atherosclerosis, inflammation, and carbamylation are closely linked in cardiovascular (CV) disease, but the potential of carbamylation burden as a CV mortality predictor is unclear, especially in patients with no or mild chronic kidney disease (CKD). This study aimed to investigate whether elevated carbamylated albumin (C-Alb), as a surrogate marker for carbamylation burden, is associated with mortality and arterial stiffness/atherosclerotic burden in patients with no or mild CKD, using pulse pressure (PP) as a marker for arterial stiffness. METHODS: We measured

Comparison of Ultra-High-Resolution and Normal-Resolution CT-Angiography for Intracranial Aneurysm Detection in Patients with Subarachnoid Hemorrhage.

RATIONALE AND OBJECTIVES: Ruptured intracranial aneurysms (IAs) are the leading cause for atraumatic subarachnoid hemorrhage. In case of aneurysm rupture, patients may face life-threatening complications and require aneurysm occlusion. Detection of the aneurysm in computed tomography (CT) imaging is therefore essential for patient outcome. This study provides an evaluation of the diagnostic accuracy of Ultra-High-Resolution Computed Tomography Angiography (UHR-CTA) and Normal-Resolution Computed Tomography Angiography (NR-CTA) concerning IA detection and characterization. MATERIALS AND METHOD

Intracoronary imaging in addition to coronary angiography for patients with out-of-hospital cardiac arrest: More information for better care?

About 70% of out-of-hospital cardiac arrests are related to an ischaemic heart disease in Western countries. Percutaneous coronary intervention has been shown to improve the prognosis of survivors when an unstable coronary lesion is identified as the potential cause of the cardiac arrest. Acute complete coronary occlusion is often demonstrated among patients with ST-segment elevation on electrocardiogram after the return of spontaneous circulation. In patients without ST-segment elevation, routine coronary angiography has been shown to be not superior to conservative management. However, an el

Evaluation of Feasibility of Medial Plantar Artery Flap With Computed Tomography Angiography in Diabetic Patients: A Pilot Radioanatomic Study.

Background A soft tissue defect resulting from a diabetic heel ulcer can be difficult to address due to limited reconstructive options and unique local area demand. The medial plantar artery flap is ideal for heel defect coverage as it provides a thick glabrous skin with good sensory feedback. The prerequisite of medial plantar artery flap surgery is a patent medial plantar artery, which is a branch of the posterior tibial artery (PTA). Nevertheless, no feasibility study of the medial plantar artery flap in diabetic patients with vascular insufficiency has been reported so far. We conducted a
