BACKGROUND: Transcription coregulator adapter protein FE65 is well known to play pivotal roles in pathogenesis of Alzheimer's disease by regulating amyloid precursor protein (APP) expression and processing. APP was recently reported to be also involved in development of human malignancies. Therefore, in this study, we studied FE65 status in different subtypes of human breast cancer and correlated the results with cell proliferation and migration of carcinoma cells and clinicopathological features of breast cancer patients to explore its biological and clinical significance in breast cancer.

Increased implementation of proven prevention strategies is required to combat rising breast cancer incidence. We assessed use of risk reducing medication (RRMed) by Australian women at elevated breast cancer risk. Only 2.4% had ever used RRMed. Isolated hydatid disease of the breast is a rare condition, possessing a diagnostic dilemma for the clinicians. Hydatid disease is common in endemic areas affecting most commonly the liver and lungs. Other organs rarely involved are the kidney, bone and brain. It is caused by the parasite Echinococcus granulosus, widely spread by cattle and sheep. Humans are the accidental host for this organism. We present a similar case of isolated hydatid cyst of the breast, which was diagnosed preoperatively and managed successfully.

Bowen's disease is a squamous cell carcinoma in situ that commonly develops on the trunk, arms, or legs and has not spread beyond the top layer of skin. It seldom develops on the nipple. We report a patient who presented with Bowen's disease of the nipple and had a concurrent breast cancer identified in the ipsilateral breast after careful examination. Histopathological examination of the surgical specimen after mastectomy confirmed the diagnoses.

Metastatic salivary gland tumors are rare clinical entities of the head and neck. Parotid gland carcinoma with distant metastases heralds a poor prognosis with a median survival of 4.3-7.3 months. The lungs, long bones, liver and brain are the most common sites of metastasis for parotid gland cancer, along with a few reported cases describing metastasis to the ileum, spleen and iliac crest. We present the first case to our knowledge of parotid adenocarcinoma metastasis to the breast.
