Cysts are abnormal fluid-filled sacs found in various human organs, including the liver. Liver cysts can be associated with known causes such as parasite infections and gene mutations, or simply aging. Among these causes, simple liver cysts are often found in elderly people. While they are generally benign, they may occasionally grow but rarely shrink with age, indicating their clear association with aging. However, the mechanism behind the formation of simple liver cysts has not been thoroughly investigated. Recently, we have generated transgenic mice that specifically overexpress fibroblast

We report a case of an aneurysmal bone cyst (ABC) originating in a rib. A 34-year-old woman was admitted to our medical department for evaluation of left rib pain and an abnormal shadow in the left 7th rib observed on chest radiography. Computed tomography (CT) revealed an osteolytic lesion involving the left 7th rib. Positron emission tomography/CT showed slight fluorodeoxyglucose uptake in the lesion. We performed 7th rib resection with a 4 cm margin from the tumor, including the intercostal muscles in the 6th and 7th interspaces. Histopathological examination of the resected specimen showed

We present the case of a 32-year-old male patient with an intratendinous cyst of the supraspinatus tendon identified during shoulder arthroscopy. The patient presented with right shoulder pain, worsened by shoulder flexion and abduction, after playing darts. There was no history of trauma. Initial clinical examination revealed only slightly reduced subscapularis muscle strength and tenderness over the long head of the biceps tendon. Magnetic resonance imaging showed subacromial impingement, a bursal side partial tear of the supraspinatus tendon, and subscapularis tendinosis. Despite physiother

This is a case of a 37-year-old female patient with past medical history of mitral valve prolapse and benign mesothelial pericardial cyst status post laparoscopic resection who presented to the emergency department with a chief complaint of right-sided sharp non-radiating chest pain due to recurrent case of benign mesothelial pericardial cyst. Though this is not a common pathology, it does overlap with common cardiovascular symptoms/conditions; not limited to but including chest pain, dyspnea, palpitations, pericardial effusions, infections and arrhythmias. It is crucial to have appropriate hi

A choledochal cyst (CC) or biliary cyst is a congenital or acquired anomaly affecting the biliary tree. It involves the dilation of the biliary tree that could affect the extrahepatic and/or the intrahepatic segments. A choledochal cyst (CC) has traditionally been considered as a cystic dilation of the extrahepatic bile duct. The incidence of choledochal cysts is high in the Asian population with a female predominance. Choledochal cysts can present at any age, including infancy. However, 80% of choledochal cysts are diagnosed in the first decade of life, with cholestasis being the most common

Neck cysts can be classified as congenital, infectious-inflammatory, and neoplastic. Hydatid disease is a parasitic infection caused by Echinococcus, is usually seen in the liver and lung and, is rare in the head and neck region even in endemic areas. If not treated, a life-threatening condition may be encountered. In this study, a case of hydatid cyst operated due to a cystic lesion with a diameter of approximately 8 cm in the neck was presented by reviewing the literature.

The head and neck regions are rather uncommon for dermoid cysts. Dermoid cysts are among the rarest types of oral cysts, accounting for a very small proportion of cases in the oral cavity. They are thought to be caused by defective development along the embryonic lines of fusion, involving both ectodermal and endodermal elements. This case study details a 16-year-old girl who complained of a smooth, globular swelling that had been present for two months over the floor of the mouth and extending to her left submandibular region. Following ultrasonography (USG) confirmation, the patient underwen

Inflammatory paradental cysts (IPC) are frequently under-reported due to insufficient clinical details. Our case report describes a 45-year-old male with a complaint of discomfort in the right lower posterior region. Intra-oral examination revealed a partially erupted, mesioangularly impacted 48 without any dental caries. The radiograph revealed a well-circumscribed radiolucency around the distal root of the impacted mandibular third molar. Histopathology revealed odontogenic epithelium with an inflamed connective tissue wall. It was diagnosed as an IPC correlating the clinical and radiologica

Although hydatid cyst, caused by Echinococcus granulosus, can develop in any part of the body, involvement of the liver and lung represents approximately 90% of all cases. Involvement of the musculoskeletal system is comparatively rare. Diagnosis is difficult because symptoms are non-specific. We present a case, together with the imaging findings, in order to draw attention to the exclusion of hydatid cyst before surgery or biopsy in patients with muscular pain and a palpable mass.

An epidermoid cyst is a common benign skin lesion that can occur in any part of the body. However, epidermoid cysts occurring in the breast are extremely rare, rarely reported, and more prone to complications such as infection, rupture, and malignant alteration. Here, we report a case of a 50-year-old woman with a mammary epidermoid cyst. The patient noticed a mass of the left nipple during bathing. A puncture test was performed considering the epidermoid cyst. Moreover, local extended resection of the nipple and areola was performed. Postoperative pathological findings confirmed the diagnosis

INTRODUCTION AND IMPORTANCE: Bone hydatidosis is a rare parasitic infection caused by Echinococcus granulosus, with a frequency of 1-2 %, it has a high morbidity and mortality rate due to its long clinical latency and lack of symptomatic specificity. This often leads to delayed diagnosis and discovery, usually at the stage of complications.
CASE PRESENTATION: We present a case of sacral hydatidosis in a 71-year-old patient with no prior medical history. The symptomatology was a pelvic pain that had been ongoing for 5 months with constipation and difficulty with defecation. The clinical and ra

Hydatid disease, also known as hydatidosis or echinococcosis, is a zoonotic infection caused by cestode, namely Echinococcus granulosus (tapeworm). Humans are the incidental hosts that acquire the infection by being in contact with infected animals or through the fecal-oral route via contaminated feces. Hydatid disease of the spleen is a zoonotic disease of rare occurrence. Most often, the patients do not have any specific symptoms except dull dragging pain in the abdomen. In some unfortunate cases, the patient may present with an acute abdomen or anaphylactic shock state due to rupture of the

Giant adrenal cysts are rare lesions, most often discovered incidentally. In this case report, a patient presenting with nonspecific abdominal distension is described. Imaging studies revealed a vast cystic mass closely attached to the left adrenal gland. Neither routine laboratory tests nor endocrine function tests revealed abnormalities. By performing open surgery, the cystic mass was completely removed. According to the pathological results, the wall of the cystic mass has an endothelial structure and some vascular components. Comprehensive analysis indicated that this case was an angiomato

Pancreatic cysts can be true or pseudocysts. True pancreatic cysts in children are rare clinical entities. We present a 23-month-old boy with a cystic lesion in the distal body and tail of the pancreas which on histopathology was found to be a rare true congenital simple cyst of the pancreas.

Trichilemmal cysts are the most common benign subcutaneous cysts on the scalp. Approximately 90% of trichilemmal cysts appear on the scalp and have trichilemmal keratinization without a granular layer visible on pathological examination. In addition, proliferating trichilemmal tumors, which occur in 2% of trichilemmal cysts, show local recurrence and ulceration, making them highly locally aggressive and requiring careful differentiation. We report the case of a 56-year-old man with a giant trichilemmal cyst on his forehead. After computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging, a subcutaneo

We present the case of a patient who consulted for cough, showing a mass in the lower lobe of the right lung on imaging studies. Bronchoscopy revealed an irregular, whitish endobronchial formation, from which whitish membranes were aspirated. Biopsies were taken from the aspirated material and sent for analysis Based on the cyto and histopathological study, pulmonary hydatid disease coexisting with a sarcoma was diagnosed. In our area, hydatid disease continues to be frequent and its pulmonary location is, together with the hepatic, the two most common forms of presentation. The usual complica

A 77-year-old Asian female with a history of left orbit exenteration and lid-sparing reconstruction for recurrent sebaceous carcinoma presented with fluid-like sensation of the left orbit. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) demonstrated bright T2 signal and a cyst-like cavity within the exenterated orbit. Decision was made to proceed with surgical exploration and excision. A calcified, bone-like cavity was encountered intraoperatively and removed. Histopathology revealed dense fibrous connective tissue with areas of calcification without osseous metaplasia, suggestive of retained blood in the or
