Exploration of the Synergistic Regulation Mechanism in Cerebral Ganglion and Heart of Eriocheir sinensis on Energy Metabolism and Antioxidant Homeostasis Maintenance under Alkalinity Stress.

(1) The development and utilization of the vast saline-alkali land worldwide is an important way to solve the worsening food crisis. Eriocheir sinensis, due to its strong osmotic regulation capability and its characteristics of being suitable for culturing in alkaline water, has become a potential aquaculture species in saline-alkali water. The brain and heart are the key tissues for signal transduction and energy supply under environmental stress. (2) This study is the first to explore the synergistic regulatory molecular mechanism by integrated analysis on cerebral ganglion proteomics and he

The initial molecular response predicts the deep molecular response but not treatment-free remission maintenance in a real-world chronic myeloid leukemia cohort.

In chronic myeloid leukemia, the identification of early molecular predictors of stable treatment-free remission (TFR) after tyrosine kinase inhibitor (TKI) discontinuation is challenging. The predictive values of residual disease (BCR::ABL1 quantification) at month 3 and 6 and more recently, BCR::ABL1 transcript halving time (HT) have been described, but no study compared the predictive value of different early parameters. Using a real-world cohort of 408 patients, we compared the performance of the EUTOS long-term survival (ELTS) score, BCR::ABL1 HT, and residual disease at month 3 and 6 to

Long-term safety and maintenance of response with esketamine nasal spray in participants with treatment-resistant depression: interim results of the SUSTAIN-3 study.

Patients with treatment-resistant depression (TRD) have higher rates of relapse and pronounced decreases in daily functioning and health-related quality of life compared to patients with major depressive disorder who are not treatment-resistant, underscoring the need for treatment choices with sustained efficacy and long-term tolerability. Adults with TRD who participated in ≥1 of 6 phase 3 "parent" studies could continue esketamine treatment, combined with an oral antidepressant, by enrolling in phase 3, open-label, long-term extension study, SUSTAIN-3. Based on their status at parent-study e

NB-3 expression in endothelial cells contributes to the maintenance of blood brain barrier integrity in a mouse high-altitude cerebral edema model.

NB-3, a member of the contactin/F3 subgroup in the immunoglobulin superfamily, plays an important role in neural development and injury recovery. The blood brain barrier (BBB) is typically involved in the pathophysiology of neural disorders, such as hypoxic-ischemic brain injury. Our previous research found that NB-3 protects against brain damage in a mouse stroke model. However, its role in high-altitude disorders caused by hypobaric hypoxia exposure remains unknown. In the present study, we found that NB-3 was expressed in brain microvascular endothelial cells (BMECs) and responded to hypoxi

Splice-Site Variants in the Gene Encoding GABA-A Receptor Delta Subunit Are Associated with Amphetamine Use in Patients under Methadone Maintenance Treatment.

Chronic opioid use disorder patients often also use other substances such as amphetamines. The gene-based analysis method was applied in the genomic database obtained from our previous study with 343 methadone maintenance treatment (MMT) patients. We found that the gene encoding gamma-aminobutyric acid type A receptors (GABA-A receptor) delta subunit isoforms (GABRD) was associated with amphetamine use in heroin dependent patients under MMT in Taiwan. A total of 15% of the 343 MMT patients tested positive for amphetamine in the urine toxicology test. Two genetic variants in the GABRD, rs288947

Dissemination of antibiotic resistance and other healthcare waterborne pathogens. The price of poor design, construction, usage and maintenance of modern water/sanitation services.

Classical waterborne pathogens (cholera/typhoid) drove the development of safe water and sanitation during the industrial revolution. Whilst effective against these organisms, other bacteria exploited the potential to form biofilm in the narrow pipes of buildings. 1976 saw the discovery of legionella. Despite evidence dating back to 1967 (including paediatric deaths in Manchester in 1995 from splashes from a sink contaminating parenteral nutrition) it required the deaths of four neonates and the might of the Press in 2011 for the UK medical services to accept waterborne transmission of other O

Maintenance Therapies for Hodgkin and Non-Hodgkin Lymphomas After Autologous Transplantation: A Consensus Project of ASBMT, CIBMTR, and the Lymphoma Working Party of EBMT.

IMPORTANCE: Maintenance therapies are often considered as a therapeutic strategy in patients with lymphoma following autologous hematopoietic cell transplantation (auto-HCT) to mitigate the risk of disease relapse. With an evolving therapeutic landscape, where novel drugs are moving earlier in therapy lines, evidence relevant to contemporary practice is increasingly limited. The American Society for Blood and Marrow Transplantation (ASBMT), Center for International Blood and Marrow Transplant Research (CIBMTR), and European Society for Blood and Marrow Transplantation (EBMT) jointly convened a

Comparison of zinc acetate hydrate and polaprezinc for zinc deficiency in patients on maintenance hemodialysis: A single-center, open-label, prospective randomized study.

The efficacy and safety of zinc acetate hydrate (ZAH) for zinc supplementation in patients on maintenance hemodialysis (MHD) remains unknown. In this prospective, single-center, open-label, parallel-group trial for MHD patients with serum zinc level <70 μg/dL, we compared ZAH (zinc; 50 mg/day) and polaprezinc (PPZ; zinc; 34 mg/day) beyond 6-month administration in a 1:1 randomization manner. The ZAH and PPZ groups had 44 and 47 patients, respectively. At 3 months, the change rate of serum zinc levels in the ZAH group was significantly higher than that in the PPZ group.
