Thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura (TTP) is a rare, life-threatening hematologic disorder characterized by severe ADAMTS13 deficiency, leading to uncontrolled platelet aggregation, microvascular thrombosis, and multi-organ dysfunction. Although the pathogenesis of immune-mediated TTP (iTTP) is primarily autoimmune, infectious agents, including Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori), have been implicated as potential triggers. However, the association between H. pylori and iTTP remains poorly defined. We describe a case of a 33-year-old male presenting with hematuria, thrombocytopenia, and laboratory

BACKGROUND: Angioimmunoblastic T-cell lymphoma (AITL) is a rare and aggressive form of peripheral T-cell lymphoma, accounting for 1 - 2% of non-Hodgkin lymphomas. Diagnosis is challenging, and there is no established standard first-line treatment. This case report highlights a rare progression from AITL to therapy-related acute myeloid leukemia (AML-pCT) following cytotoxic chemotherapy.
METHODS: A 61-year-old male presented with fever and a painless right submandibular mass. Initial biopsy and immunohistochemistry confirmed AITL. The patient underwent multiple cycles of chemotherapy, includi

BACKGROUND: Gaucheromas, pseudotumors composed of Gaucher cells, are rare complications of Gaucher's Disease (GD). They are usually seen in patients receiving enzyme replacement. Surgery is generally not recommended for these benign masses in treatment management. Most patients treated with Enzyme Replacement Therapy (ERT) show organ enlargement and improvement in laboratory values. In our case, no change in the size of the lesions was observed despite 4 years of standard dose ERT.

Viscoelastic testing (VET) has evolved significantly since its inception in the mid-20th century, when it was first developed to guide transfusion strategies in trauma and surgical patients. Initially, VET technologies such as TEG and ROTEM assessed clot formation by measuring the mechanical resistance of a pin or piston within a blood sample. Recent advances have introduced automated, cartridge-based systems and novel detection methods-including resonance frequency and ultrasound-based sonorheometry-these new systems allow for more precise, rapid, and user-friendly assessment of clot dynamics

BACKGROUND: Multiple myeloma (MM) is a common malignant tumor of the hematological system caused by the malignant proliferation of plasma cells, characterized by the production of M proteins and CRAB symptoms. Among them, the Immunoglobulin G MM is the most common, while the IgG4-MM is extremely rare. Smoldering multiple myeloma refers to a state where there are no clinical symptoms. However, bone marrow plasma cell infiltration reaches 10%-59%, and previously, there were no reports of Immunoglobulin G4 smoldering multiple myeloma (IgG4 SMM) internationally.

Pulmonary toxoplasmosis is a rare but potentially fatal opportunistic infection, most often reported in HIV-infected individuals. Its occurrence in non-HIV immunocompromised patients-particularly those with hematologic malignancies like multiple myeloma (MM)-is exceedingly rare and diagnostically challenging due to nonspecific clinical and radiologic features. While Toxoplasma gondii infection is typically mild in immunocompetent hosts, it can cause severe disease in immunocompromised populations. A literature review was conducted using PubMed, Scopus, and Google Scholar (January 2000-May 2025

PURPOSE: Multiple myeloma (MM) is a hematologic malignancy often presenting with diffuse osteolysis of bone in the vertebral column. So far, little is known about the risk of perioperative blood loss in spinal surgery, as MM-related spinal lesions are often grouped with spinal metastases (SPMs). A more definitive understanding of bleeding risks for myeloma specifically will improve surgical planning and treatment. This study aims to assess the bleeding index (BI) and visually estimated blood loss (EBL) in MM patients versus SPM patients undergoing oncological spine surgery.

BACKGROUND: Beta-lactamase inhibitors (BLIs) are widely used with beta-lactam antibiotics to combat resistant infections, yet their safety profiles, especially for newer agents, remain underexplored. This study aimed to identify potential adverse event (AE) signals associated with BLIs using the USFDA Adverse Event Reporting System (USFDA AERS).
METHODS: The USFDA AERS was queried for AE reports involving FDA-approved BLIs from March 2004 to March 2024. After removing duplicates, only reports with BLIs listed as primary suspects were included. Disproportionality analysis was conducted using f

FIV is the etiological agent of a cat disease with features similar to the HIV-induced human AIDS. FIV has negative effects on immune system, leaving the cat vulnerable to many other infections. However, epidemiological studies on FIV are relatively unknown in many parts of Iran. Thus, this study aimed to explore FIV prevalence in DSH client-owned cats in Tehran (capital of Iran) by serologic and molecular-based methods. For this study, 346 cats referring to different veterinary clinics in Tehran were screened in 2025 (January to May) by ELISA for FIV-Ab. Then, seropositive cats were analyzed
