Angiotensin Receptor-Neprilysin Inhibitor Therapy and Cardiac Remodeling in Heart Failure: Consensus Statement from India.

Adverse cardiac remodeling refers to progressive structural and functional modifications in the heart because of increased wall stress in the myocardium, loss of viable myocardium, and neurohormonal stimulation. The guideline-directed medical therapy for Heart failure (HF) includes Angiotensin receptor-neprilysin inhibitor (ARNI) (sacubitril/valsartan), β-blockers, sodium-glucose co-transporter 2 (SGLT2) inhibitors, and mineralocorticoid receptor antagonists (MRA). ARNI is under-prescribed in India despite its attractive safety and efficacy profile. Therefore, the consensus discusses objective

Quantifying climate variation and associated regional air pollution in southern India using Google Earth Engine.

Climate change and regional air pollution have had significant proportional coherence and are collectively hazardous for the regional ecosystem. To conduct this present investigation, we obtained high-resolution remotely sensed datasets from 2001 to 2022. To estimate climate variation, we utilized Climate Hazard Group InfraRed Precipitation with Station Data Version 2.0 (CHIRPS) and Moderate Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) Land Surface Temperature (LST). Additionally, we used Sentinel-5P datasets to collect spatio-temporal information for regional CO (Carbon Monoxide), NO2 (Nitrogen Dioxide)

Genotype-phenotype correlation and natural history study of dysferlinopathy: a single-centre experience from India.

Dysferlinopathies are a group of limb-girdle muscular dystrophies causing significant disability in the young population. There is a need for studies on large cohorts to describe the clinical, genotypic and natural history in our subcontinent. To describe and correlate the clinical, genetic profile and natural history of genetically confirmed dysferlinopathies. We analysed a retrospective cohort of patients with dysferlinopathy from a single quaternary care centre in India. A total of 124 patients with dysferlinopathy were included (40 females). Median age at onset and duration of illness were

Molecular surveillance of anti-malarial drug resistance genes in Plasmodium falciparum isolates in Odisha, India.

BACKGROUND: Despite significant progress in eliminating malaria from the state of Odisha, India, the disease is still considered endemic. Artesunate plus sulfadoxine-pyrimethamine (AS + SP) has been introduced since 2010 as first-line treatment for uncomplicated Plasmodium falciparum malaria. This study aimed to investigate the prevalence of mutations associated with resistance to chloroquine (CQ), sulfadoxine-pyrimethamine (SP), and artesunate (ART) in P. falciparum parasites circulating in the state. METHODS: A total of 239 isolates of P. falciparum mono infection were collected during July

COVID-19 Pandemic Research Opportunities in India: What the Pandemic Is Teaching Us About Transplantation.

Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) has engulfed the whole world, and India has been the second worst-hit nation. Organ transplant services were halted in both the public and private care sectors of India, with public care sectors more adversely affected. Deceased donations were disproportionately more affected, with unfavorable rates at the peak of the pandemic. Mortality outcomes of COVID-19 among different organ transplant recipients in India have been lower compared with the Western world, with younger age and less comorbidities among Indian populations partly responsible for the lower mortalit

Socio-demographic and lifestyle factors associated with intrinsic capacity among older adults: evidence from India.

BACKGROUND: Since the traditional models missed the possibility of formulating personalised programs centred on a person's priorities and values, it was a pressing priority to shift from traditional disease-centred to a function-based approach of healthy ageing, which is defined as 'the process of developing and maintaining the functional ability that enables well-being in older age'. The present study aimed to assess the prevalence of high intrinsic capacity (IC) of older adults and to examine the socio-demographic and lifestyle factors associated with IC among older adults in India.
