Novel KIR2DS4:HLA-B*35 interaction predicts HLA-B*35 positive patient survival post hematopoietic stem cell transplant.

Haplo-identical hematopoietic cell transplantation (haploHCT) is an integral treatment paradigm for patients with leukemia. While overall survival (OS) post-haploHCT has steadily improved, relapse-free survival (RFS) remains relatively stagnant. Upon the discovery of killer immunoglobulin-like receptors (KIRs) on natural killer (NK) cells and their cognate human leukocyte antigen (HLA) ligands, algorithms have been developed to enhance graft versus leukemia effects. However, these algorithms fail to yield consistent predictions in patient outcomes. We utilized a combination of in silico protei

Clinical characteristics of immune-related adverse events after immune checkpoint inhibitor therapy with or without chemotherapy in patients with antinuclear antibody-positive malignancies.

BACKGROUND: Antinuclear antibodies (ANA) are detected in cancer patients before ICI therapy, but their association with immune-related adverse events (irAEs) and outcomes is uncertain. This study aimed to characterize irAEs and tolerability in ANA-positive patients receiving ICI ± chemotherapy, and explore implications for resistance. METHODS: We retrospectively analyzed 121 solid tumor patients who received ICI therapy ± chemotherapy at the China-Japan Union Hospital (2021-2026). By baseline ANA titer (≥1:80 positive), patients were divided into positive (n=60) and negative (n=61) groups. We

Radical prostatectomy without prior biopsy in patients with positive PSMA PET and/or mpMRI: A practiced but poorly documented approach. Retrospective multicenter cohort study.

INTRODUCTION: Prostate cancer (PCa) is the most common malignancy among men and currently ranks as the second leading cancer worldwide in terms of incidence. In 2021, a total of 35,764 new cases were diagnosed. The development of new imaging tools such as multiparametric magnetic resonance imaging (mpMRI) and prostate-specific membrane antigen positron emission tomography (PET-PSMA) has enabled the exploration of less invasive diagnostic strategies in clinically significant prostate cancer. However, performing radical prostatectomy without a prior biopsy remains an exceptional practice, scarce

True Positive 18 F-FDG PET/CT and Negative 123 I-MIBG SPECT/CT in a Pediatric Patient With Bladder Malignant Paraganglioma.

A 10-year-old child presented with episodic headache, diaphoresis, and dizziness during micturition straining, raising clinical suspicion for paraganglioma. 123 I-MIBG SPECT/CT revealed no abnormal radiotracer uptake in the bladder mass or enlarged lesions. In contrast, 18 F-FDG PET/CT demonstrated increased metabolic activity with marked 18 F-FDG uptake in these same regions. Histopathological examination following surgical resection confirmed the diagnosis of malignant paraganglioma with multiple metastases. This case illustrates that bladder paragangliomas may exhibit positive 18 F-FDG PET/

[Expert consensus on the long-term management of gonadotropin-releasing hormone agonists in premenopausal patients with hormone receptor-positive breast cancer (2026 edition)].

Compared with postmenopausal patients, premenopausal patients with hormone receptor-positive (HR+) breast cancer generally exhibit higher tumor heterogeneity, greater invasiveness and a poorer prognosis, with a 5-year postoperative recurrence rate of 20%-30%. Endocrine therapy based on ovarian function suppression (OFS) is a key strategy to reduce the risk of recurrence, and gonadotropin-releasing hormone agonists (GnRHa) are commonly used agents for OFS in clinical practice. GnRHa combined with endocrine therapy has become the standard treatment regimen for intermediate- and high-risk premeno

Integrated therapy including acupuncture in a patient with long-term survival from spinal cord metastases of ALK-positive lung adenocarcinoma: a case report.

BACKGROUND: Lung cancer remains a leading cause of cancer mortality globally. Spinal cord metastases (SCMs) signify an advanced disease stage with a particularly dire prognosis, primarily due to severe neurological deficits and subsequent life-threatening complications. While modern systemic therapies can control tumor growth, they often inadequately address the critical issue of neurological recovery, which may be the key determinant of ultimate survival. CASE PRESENTATION: A 47-years-old female with ALK-positive lung adenocarcinoma developed multiple SCMs. Following post-SCM systemic therap

Heterogeneity Analysis of HBeAg-Positive Chronic Hepatitis B Patients with Ultra-High Viral Load (HBV DNA ≥ 7.0 log10 IU/mL).

Background/Objectives: HBeAg-positive chronic hepatitis B (CHB) patients with very high viral replication are often clinically considered a homogeneous, low-risk population. However, substantial biochemical, virological, and fibrosis-related heterogeneity may exist. This study aimed to characterize this heterogeneity in treatment-naive, HBeAg-positive CHB patients with ultra-high viral loads (HBV DNA ≥ 7.0 log10 IU/mL). Furthermore, we sought to identify predictors of significant fibrosis and detect clinically relevant discordant phenotypes, such as silent disease progression despite normal al

Can dynamic changes in preoperative urinary white blood cells and nitrite predict infectious complications after percutaneous nephrolithotomy in culture-positive patients?

BACKGROUND: Percutaneous nephrolithotomy (PCNL) frequently encounters postoperative infectious complications, notably fever and urosepsis. Although preoperative urine culture guides antibiotics, delayed reporting hampers timely risk stratification. Urinalysis is simple, cost-effective, and repeatable; however, most existing studies focus on single static measurements and lack systematic evaluation of temporal trends. OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the association between temporal changes in preoperative urinary white blood cells (uWBC) and nitrite (NIT) and the risk of postoperative fever and uroseps
