[Assessment of premenstrual dysphoric disorder symptoms: population of women in Casablanca].

Menstruation is a biological phenomenon that has been subject of myths and taboos within and among various cultures. These myths distort the reality surrounding menstruation and create ambivalent feelings about the value and usefulness of this function outside of its necessity as mean of reproduction. Thus studies concerning menstruation need to take into account cultural and psychosocial factors that define the meaning, values and behavior associated with this biological phenomenon. According to several studies, 70% of women experience psychological faintness during this menstrual phase, 40%

A Nurse-Led Metamemory-Based Intervention to Improve Medication Adherence in Older Adults With H-Type Hypertension: A Randomized Controlled Trial.

BACKGROUND: H-type hypertension substantially increases cardiovascular and cerebrovascular risk in older adults, yet long-term medication adherence remains suboptimal. Beyond regimen complexity, age-related cognitive vulnerability and limited self-monitoring capacity may undermine adherence. However, few nurse-led interventions explicitly target memory-related mechanisms underlying medication-taking behavior. OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the effectiveness of a nurse-led, metamemory-based intervention in improving medication adherence and related cognitive and psychosocial outcomes in older adults w

Patient-prioritized outcomes for pediatric kidney stone surgery: A mixed-methods study.

INTRODUCTION: Pediatric kidney stone disease is increasing and frequently requires surgical intervention. Although procedural success is traditionally measured using metrics like stone clearance and complications, little is known about which outcomes pediatric patients and caregivers consider most important. We aimed to identify and prioritize patient-centered outcomes for pediatric kidney stone surgery. METHODS: We conducted a stakeholder-engaged mixed methods study involving pediatric patients aged 8-21 years with prior kidney stone surgery and their caregivers. Participants were recruited

Nature-based physical activity in breast cancer survivors: a new frontier in supportive care.

Breast cancer (BC) survivors frequently experience long-term physical and psychosocial sequelae following treatment, including cancer-related fatigue, cardiovascular dysfunction, sarcopenia, sleep disturbances, and emotional distress, which can significantly affect quality of life. Structured physical activity is widely recognized as a key component of supportive oncology care and has demonstrated benefits in improving physical function, psychological wellbeing, and survival outcomes. However, adherence to exercise recommendations remains suboptimal in cancer patients mostly due to treatment-r

The skin microbiome and affective symptoms: neuroimmune, neuroendocrine, and sensory pathways linking inflammatory dermatoses to mood and anxiety burden.

The skin functions as a neuro-immuno-endocrine organ with an extensive microbial interface capable of bidirectional signaling with the central nervous system. While the gut-brain axis is well established, the skin-microbiota-brain (SMB) axis remains underexplored, particularly with respect to affective symptom dimensions (depression, anxiety, stress) that commonly co-occur with chronic inflammatory dermatoses. This review synthesizes evidence across clinical, translational, and experimental studies and organizes it by strength (associational findings, mechanistic plausibility, and limited inte

Menstrual vulnerability to acute systemic stress: evidence from 884 women after COVID-19 infection.

BACKGROUND: Menstrual function is sensitive to inflammatory, endocrine, and psychosocial stressors that may transiently disrupt the hypothalamic-pituitary-ovarian axis. Although menstrual disturbances have been reported during the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic, large real-world data from Asian populations remain limited. We aimed to describe menstrual changes reported after COVID-19 infection and to identify potential vulnerability factors. METHODS: We conducted a retrospective cross-sectional survey using an electronic questionnaire among reproductive-aged women who had experi

A One Health Decalogue for Breastfeeding: Microbiota-Targeted Strategies for Infant Gastrointestinal and Neurodevelopmental Health.

Background/Objectives: Breastfeeding represents a critical developmental window during which maternal biology, environmental exposures, and nutrition converge to influence infant gastrointestinal health and long-term developmental trajectories. From a One Health perspective, breastfeeding can be conceptualized not as a static nutritional act, but as a dynamic and modifiable biological system in which maternal factors shape early-life microbiota assembly and immune programming. This narrative review explores how microbiota-oriented strategies during breastfeeding may foster a favorable trajecto

Multidimensional contributors to disease burden in axial spondyloarthritis: role of central sensitization, catastrophizing and sleep disturbance.

INTRODUCTION: Axial spondyloarthritis (axSpA) imposes a multidimensional burden that is not fully explained by inflammation. Central sensitization (CS), pain catastrophizing (PC), and sleep disturbance may amplify symptoms and worsen outcomes. This study aimed to assess the prevalence and impact of CS, PC, and sleep disturbances in axSpA patients and their associations with disease activity, function, and quality of life compared with controls. METHODS: This cross-sectional study included adults with axSpA (ASAS 2009) and healthy controls recruited from a tertiary clinic (April 2024-April 202

Pigmentary Changes Reported with Tyrosine Kinase Inhibitors: A Narrative Review of Mechanisms and Clinical Implications.

Tyrosine kinase inhibitors are widely used targeted anti-cancer agents. They may induce pigmentary alterations that, although often benign, can have meaningful clinical and psychosocial implications. This study aimed to investigate pigmentation changes in the use of all tyrosine kinase inhibitors and to explain their underlying mechanisms. This narrative review is based on studies identified through searches of PubMed, Scopus, and Web of Science up to 1 September, 2025, encompassing clinical trials, case reports, original research articles, and relevant review articles on tyrosine kinase inhib

Distinct pain profiles across irritable bowel syndrome subtypes: results from the Rome Foundation Global Epidemiology Study.

Abdominal pain is the hallmark symptom of irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), yet its clinical expression varies considerably across subtypes. Despite this, few large-scale studies have compared pain features across all Rome IV-defined IBS subtypes. We aimed to delineate differences in abdominal pain patterns across IBS subtypes and evaluate the contribution of psychological comorbidities, extra-intestinal symptoms, and intermediate factors associated with psychological distress. Data were derived from the internet survey of the Rome Foundation Global Epidemiology Study, encompassing 54,127 partic

Racial and Ethnic Disparities in Pandemic-Onset Disorders of Gut-Brain Interaction: Results From a Nationwide Survey.

BACKGROUND: During the COVID-19 pandemic, the prevalence of disorders of gut-brain interaction (DGBI) in the US increased. The pandemic also led to health inequities among racial and ethnic minorities. Here, we conducted monthly national surveys during the pandemic to examine the association between race/ethnicity and pandemic-onset DGBI. METHODS: From March 2021 to May 2022, we recruited a nationally representative sample of adults in the US to complete an online survey with Rome IV questionnaires (9 gastroduodenal and bowel DGBI) along with demographic and comorbidity questions. Effect of Eccentric Control Exercises on Patients with Frozen Shoulder and Mild to Moderate Disability: A Single-Group Pre-Post Study.

BACKGROUND: Frozen shoulder (FS) is a common musculoskeletal condition characterized by inflammatory contracture of the glenohumeral joint capsule, leading to restricted active and passive range of motion, particularly in external rotation. Eccentric control exercises have demonstrated effectiveness in managing various upper limb disorders, including subacromial impingement, tennis elbow, and rotator cuff tendinopathy. However, there is limited evidence on their efficacy in individuals with frozen shoulder. This study aimed to evaluate the effects of eccentric control exercises on pain, functi
