Intramedullary spinal Histoplasma granuloma. Case report.

While there have been several cases of cerebral histoplasmoma published in the literature, the occurrence of such a lesion in an intramedullary spinal location has not previously been reported. The authors present a patient with a Brown-Séquard lesion secondary to an intramedullary Histoplasma granuloma in the cervical region. The case was successfully managed with surgical removal of the lesion.

Trisomy 18 syndrome with cleft foot.

Ectrodactyly of the feet has been reported only twice in association with trisomy 18 syndrome. A severe form of this anomaly, the first with published illustrative x rays, is described in a male infant with trisomy 18 syndrome. It is suggested that this may represent an extreme expression of the foot anomalies more commonly associated with this syndrome.

[Osteoarticular lesions in Whipple's disease. Apropos of a destructive form and review of the literature].

A patient with Whipple's disease was considered as cured after treatment for two years, but relapse occurred as the neurological form. Radiographic imaging showed destructive osteoarticular lesions, with few or no symptoms, affecting the peripheral skeleton but also the sacroiliac joints. The published literature is reviewed and the different osteoarticular radiologic forms of the affection described.

[Vascular lesions of Fabry's disease. Optical, histochemical and ultrastructural studies].

On the basis of a new case of Fabry's disease and the various cases published in the literature, the authors analyse the vascular lesions of this angiodysplasia related to an error in lipid metabolism. They emphasise the involvement of lymph vessels (in particular those of the small bowel), and the ultrastructural characteristics and the mode of formation of deposits within the endothelial cells of the vascular walls.

Benign cementoblastoma.

An unusual case of cementoblastoma is presented. It is the second case to be published demonstrating involvement of the pulp, and it is the first instance of a cementoblastoma that appears to have evolved from an impacted tooth. A review of the literature substantiates the fact that this lesion may not be so uncommon as was previously thought, and that pain and facial asymmetry may be significant clinical features.

From Idea to Publication: A Step-by-Step Guide to Original Research in Radiology with AI-Integrated Workflow.

RATIONALE AND OBJECTIVES: Over the past decade, according to the National Resident Matching Program Charting Outcomes data, scholarly output of matched United States Medical Doctor radiology applicants has more than doubled, with applicants reporting an average of 12.0 published scholarly works in 2024 compared to 5.7 in 2014. Despite this shift, structured guidance on how to produce peer-reviewed scholarly work remains limited for radiology trainees, and most existing guides predate the widespread availability of artificial intelligence (AI) tools. MATERIALS AND METHODS: This guide provides

Unraveling the spatial landscape of dystrophinopathies: a transcriptomic approach to Becker and Duchenne muscular dystrophies.

Dystrophinopathies are caused by pathogenic variants in the DMD gene, resulting in partial (Becker) or complete loss (Duchenne) of dystrophin. Becker (BMD) and Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD) are characterized by progressive muscle wasting, fatty replacement, fibrosis, and loss of function. To study histopathological changes, we used Visium spatial transcriptomics to profile skeletal muscle biopsies of patients affected by dystrophinopathy (n = 8) and healthy controls (n = 4). We estimated the proportion of cell types and their spatial localization across samples applying a deconvolution str

Allaying "Anxieties in Government Officials, Physicians and the Public": Johnson & Johnson and The Lancet Editorial of 1977.

In 1973, the Food and Drug Administration first tried to regulate asbestos in talc, provoking a vigorous response from the cosmetics industry, which used talc in a variety of body, baby, and bath powders as well as cosmetics. The industry's claim that asbestos in talc was not a danger gained legitimacy when The Lancet, perhaps the world's leading medical journal, in 1977, published an unsigned commentary that Johnson & Johnson called an "editorial" that asserted that there was no need for regulation because the cosmetic industries in the United States and Britain had made sure that their produ

Isaac Newton's physics of interparticulate forces and the aether queries.

Contemporaries who only knew Newton's natural philosophy from his published works would have seen him as a thinker who was thoroughly opposed to the concept of an all-pervasive universal aether. There was no need, mathematically or physically, for an aether in the natural philosophy presented in his Principia (1687). Newton insisted that an aether was not only not required, but would actually prevent the smooth running of the world system. This state of affairs changed dramatically, however, when Newton published the second English edition of the Opticks (1717). In a series of eight new 'Queri

Implications of LINC01094 for human malignancies.

Long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) constitute a large class of ribonucleic acids, participating in multiple biological events within tumor cells, especially the regulation of transcription. A growing body of literature has revealed that abnormalities of lncRNA expression could result in carcinogenesis and oncogenesis by exerting inhibition or oncogenic effects. LINC01094 is a recently identified lncRNA found to be dys-regulated in an assortment of cancer tissues and control multiple biological processes via competing endogenous RNA (ceRNA) mechanisms. Specifically, LINC01094 functions as a ceRNA t

A systematic scoping review of the molecular pathogenesis of digestive system cancers (2013-2025).

Digestive system cancers (DSCs) remain among the most prevalent and lethal malignancies worldwide, accounting for more than a quarter of cancer diagnoses and a third of cancer deaths. Advances in next-generation sequencing (NGS) have accelerated discovery of genetic, epigenetic, and transcriptomic alterations, yet an integrated overview across DSCs is lacking. This scoping review synthesized 57 studies published between 2013 and 2025 from PubMed, Scopus, and Web of Science. Colorectal and gastric cancers were most frequently represented, while oesophageal, pancreatic, and rare subtypes such as

Venetoclax-Integrated Conditioning Strategies Prior to Allogeneic Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation in Myeloid Neoplasms: A Scoping Review of Emerging Evidence.

Allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (allo-HSCT) remains the only potentially curative therapy for many patients with high-risk myeloid neoplasms, yet relapse and transplant-related toxicity continue to limit durable benefit. Venetoclax (VEN), a selective BCL-2 inhibitor, provides a biologically compelling strategy for conditioning augmentation through chemotherapy sensitization and potential lowering of host immune resistance to engraftment. We performed a hybrid scoping review and evidence-mapping analysis to summarize published clinical experience and the active investigationa

AdVance™ XP male sling implantation for stress urinary incontinence after orthotopic ileal neobladder reconstruction.

Stress urinary incontinence (UI) after radical cystectomy with orthotopic ileal neobladder reconstruction remains a challenging condition in men, with very limited evidence regarding surgical management. Specifically, experience with male sling implantation in this setting is limited to a few published cases. We report a 63-year-old male with mixed UI using three pads per day and ICIQ-SF 15, unresponsive to conservative therapy. An AdVance™ XP sling was implanted via transobturator approach. At six months, pad use decreased to 1-2 per day and ICIQ-SF improved to 7, with complete resolution of

A transition zone enriched WIF1+ basal cell subtype is associated with benign prostatic hyperplasia.

The cellular composition and disease susceptibilities of the distinct zones of the human prostate remain incompletely understood. Benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) is a common condition that causes widespread morbidity and is nearly exclusively localized to the transition zone (TZ). Through extensive single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-seq) of benign regions from prostatectomy specimens, we identified a basal cell population expressing WIF1, VCAN, and NRG1, among other genes, that was significantly enriched in the TZ. Analysis of previously published scRNA-seq datasets further confirmed that WI

Occupational Protection in Interventional Radiology. A Joint Guideline of the Cardiovascular and Interventional Radiological Society of Europe and the Society of Interventional Radiology.

PURPOSE: Since the initial edition of this Guideline was published in 2010, it has become increasingly clear that occupational protection involves more than just radiation protection. Additionally, radiation exposure to operators and staff occurs from sources other than fluoroscopy. This Guideline has been updated to incorporate these topics and to reflect new information on occupational protection in interventional radiology. METHODS: The CIRSE Standards of Practice Committee, in conjunction with SIR, established a writing panel of twelve clinicians, medical physics experts, and others with

Orally Bioavailable Dopamine D1/D5 Receptor-Biased Agonists to Study the Role of β-Arrestin in Treatment-Related Dyskinesia in Parkinson's Disease.

Dopamine replacement therapies for Parkinson's disease often produce dyskinesias with long-term use. Published studies suggest that introducing β-arrestin signaling might be protective for dyskinesia. We advanced known noncatecholamine D1/D5 receptor G protein-biased agonists and found that removal of oxygen in the linker from published compounds limited β-arrestin recruitment, whereas introduction of nitrogen on the central o-phenyl linker favored β-arrestin recruitment and provided orally bioavailable compounds. Cryogenic electron microscopy suggested key receptor-ligand interactions influen
