Given the association of injury and posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), we examined whether head injury might be associated with increased frequency and severity of PTSD. Using a mail survey, we queried 143 male combat veterans with and without PTSD, who had previously participated in PTSD research in our laboratory, about their history of head injury. BACKGROUND: Physical therapy (PT) and other exercise-based interventions are core components of care for knee osteoarthritis (OA), but both are underutilized, and some patients have limited access to PT services. This clinical trial is examining a STepped Exercise Program for patients with Knee OsteoArthritis (STEP-KOA). Malignant tumors of the small bowel are unusual and account for only 1% to 5% of all gastrointestinal tract malignancies. Thirteen cases of malignant tumors of the small bowel identified at the VAMC in Puerto Rico from January 1999 to September 2001 and a review of the literature are presented. The mean age of our cases was 67 (range: 45-78). Vague abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, and melena were the most frequently reported symptoms.
