OBJECTIVE: The objective of the study was to compare menstrual, physiologic, and psychologic symptoms over 2 years among women initiating use of depot medroxyprogesterone acetate or an oral contraceptive pill with a reduced pill-free interval and those not using hormonal contraception.
STUDY DESIGN: A total of 608 women reported their experience regarding 17 symptoms prior to initiating contraception and every 6 months thereafter for 24 months. Longitudinal relationships between symptoms and contraceptives were assessed after adjusting for age, visits, and baseline status of symptoms.

Carbonic anhydrase (CA) was purified from four different cell localisation (outer peripheral, cytosolic, inner peripheral and integral) in bovine stomach using affinity chromatography with Sepharose-4B-L-tyrosine sulphanilamide. Streptococcus suis serotype 2 is the cause of serious infections in animals and humans, but certain aspects of the infection pathogenesis still remain unclear. Thirty-seven metal compounds were examined for inhibitory activities against infection with human immunodeficiency virus type 1 (HIV-1). Zinc group metal compounds, namely, zinc acetate, zinc chloride, zinc nitrate, cadmium acetate and mercury chloride, showed anti-HIV-1 activities.
