Continuous negative-pressure wound therapy improves the survival rate of skin grafts and shortens the time required for skin graft survival.

BACKGROUND: The effectiveness of negative-pressure wound therapy (NPWT) in skin graft fixation has been demonstrated in several clinical studies. However, in vitro and in vivo studies on skin graft fixation with NPWT have been scarce. In this in vivo study, we aimed to determine whether NPWT fixation enhances skin graft survival and how it contributes to improving skin graft survival biologically. MATERIALS AND METHODS: We harvested skin from the bilateral abdominal wall of 88 mice after anesthetizing them. Full-thickness skin grafts (FTSGs) were performed on contralateral harvest sites, and

SMAS repositioning technique utilizing cog thread: Anatomical perspectives.

INTRODUCTION: Face-lifting surgeries were once common among individuals over 60 years old due to skin laxity, but recent trends favor thread lifting in this age group. Understanding dynamic changes in facial anatomy during postural shifts is essential. METHOD: Fresh cadaver studies have demonstrated the passage of threads through the superficial musculoaponeurotic system (SMAS) layer, confirming the efficacy of the technique. Proper insertion depth targeting SMAS repositioning, rather than superficial skin layers, is crucial. RESULT: The natural movement of tissues secured by thread (N-Cog a

INTRODUCTION: Androgenetic alopecia (AGA) is one of the most common alopecia among men and women worldwide. It is a nonscarring alopecia that has a characterized pattern. In female pattern AGA, the hairline is stable but general thinning occurs most notably in the frontal region. In male-pattern AGA, the hairline is receding and the thinning is most notable in the frontotemporal region. AGA has a complex pathogenesis and relation of subcutaneous fat in the scalp region and the miniaturization of terminal hair follicles is vague. In this study, subcutaneous fat in the frontal scalp an important

Identification of novel disulfidptosis-related lncRNA signatures to predict the prognosis and immune microenvironment of skin cutaneous melanoma patients.

BACKGROUND: Skin cutaneous melanoma (SKCM) is an aggressive form of malignant melanoma with poor prognosis and high mortality rates. Disulfidptosis is a newly discovered cell death regulatory mechanism caused by the abnormal accumulation of disulfides. This unique pathway is guiding significant new research to understand cancer progression for targeted treatment. However, the correlation between disulfidptosis with long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) in SKCM remains unknown at present. METHODS: The Cancer Genome Atlas database furnished lncRNA expression data and clinical information for SKCM pati

Identification of potential therapeutic targets for skin cutaneous melanoma on the basic of transcriptomics.

BACKGROUND: Advanced skin cutaneous melanoma (SKCM) is responsible for the majority of skin cancer-related deaths. Apart from the rare BRAF V600F mutation, which can be targeted with specific drugs, there are currently no other novel effective therapeutic targets. METHODS: We used SMR analysis with cis-expressed quantitative trait locus (cis-eQTL) as the exposure variable and SKCM as the outcome variable to identify potential therapeutic targets for SKCM. Colocalization assays and HEIDI tests are used to test whether SKCM risk and gene expression are driven by common SNPs. Replication analysi

Neutrophil extracellular trap related risk score exhibits crucial prognostic value in skin cutaneous melanoma, associating with distinct immune characteristics.

BACKGROUND: Neutrophil extracellular traps (NETs) are related to the prognosis of cancer patients. Nevertheless, the potential prognostic values of NETs in skin cutaneous melanoma (SKCM) remains largely unknown. MATERIALS AND METHODS: The NET-related gene signature was constructed by LASSO Cox regression analysis using the TCGA-SKCM cohort. The overall survival (OS) and immune status in SKCM patients between the high- and low-NET score (high-score, low-score) groups were explored. The scRNA-seq dataset GSE115978 was used to understand the role of NET score in SKCM at single cell resolution.
