Integrating core muscle morphology into a predictive model for residual back pain after vertebral augmentation.

BACKGROUND: Residual back pain (RBP) after percutaneous vertebral augmentation (PVA) for osteoporotic vertebral compression fractures (OVCF) remains a significant clinical challenge. Traditional prediction models focus primarily on bone mineral density and procedural factors. This study aimed to develop and validate a novel nomogram that incorporates the morphology of core muscles, notably the gluteal muscles, for personalized RBP risk stratification. METHODS: In this retrospective study, clinical data from 428 OVCF patients who underwent PVA at two centers were analyzed. Patients were random

Clinically integrated multi-modal transformer framework with cross-modal gated fusion and clinical nomogram for automated Kellgren-Lawrence grading of knee osteoarthritis on x-ray images.

BACKGROUND: We developed a multi-modal Transformer framework integrating knee radiographs with clinical covariates to enable automated, objective, and generalizable ordinal Kellgren-Lawrence (KL) grading. METHODS: A total of 2,703 anteroposterior knee radiographs were retrospectively collected from three independent medical centers (January 2018 - December 2024). Data from two centers (n = 1,953) were used for model development and internal five-fold stratified cross-validation, while the third center (n = 750) served as an independent external test set. The proposed framework combines a Swin

Preoperative MRI Intratumoral Heterogeneity Radiomics for Microvascular Invasion and Recurrence-Free Survival in HCC.

BACKGROUND AND AIMS: Microvascular invasion (MVI) is a major determinant of postoperative recurrence and poor prognosis in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), yet MVI cannot be reliably identified before surgery: pathologic evaluation is invasive, prone to sampling bias, and available only after resection. We aimed to develop and evaluate a preoperative radiomics biomarker for noninvasive MVI prediction and postoperative risk stratification of recurrence-free survival. METHODS: In this retrospective multicenter study, 567 patients with HCC from four centers were included. Based on pretreatment MR

Association between the systemic immune-inflammation index and overall survival in patients with leukemia: a multicenter cohort study.

BACKGROUND: The systemic immune-inflammation index (SII; platelet × neutrophil/lymphocyte) is a well-established prognostic marker in solid tumors, but its clinical significance in leukemia remains unclear, where peripheral blood cytopenias may primarily reflect bone marrow failure rather than conventional cancer-related inflammation. This study aimed to evaluate the association between pretreatment SII and overall survival (OS) in patients with leukemia and to assess its prognostic relevance in a multicenter cohort. METHODS: We retrospectively analyzed 609 leukemia patients from a multicente
