Camouflage treatment of severe skeletal class III malocclusion with effective torque control in an adolescent combined with forward functional shift and hypodivergent.

Skeletal Class III malocclusion, often presenting with anterior crossbite, significantly affects patients' oral function, facial aesthetics, and psychological well-being. Here, we report the case of a 17-year-old male patient with a severe skeletal Class III malocclusion, characterized by a concave profile, anterior crossbite, pronounced curve of Spee, and functional anterior shift. The patient preferred a non-surgical approach, posing a challenge for camouflage treatment. The treatment plan involved sequential steps: initially, aligning the maxillary dentition using a mandibular bite block, f

Minimizing Thighplasty Complications: A Combined Approach of J-Medial Pattern and Helium Plasma-Assisted Liposculpture.

SUMMARY: Thighplasty is a widely performed body contouring procedure, using various surgical techniques for thigh lifting, including medial scar positioning, vertical and horizontal procedures, and liposuction. Despite its popularity, thighplasty is associated with high complication rates and suboptimal postoperative outcomes. This article presents a novel technique: the J-medial thighplasty combined with helium plasma radiofrequency (HPRF) technology to address moderate skin and soft-tissue laxity and ptosis in the inner thighs. Between 2020 and 2023, 21 patients underwent this combined proce

Visual Aesthetics (VA) Methodology: A Strategic Approach to Facial Rejuvenation.

BACKGROUND: The demand for natural, harmonized facial rejuvenation has shifted aesthetics practice from localized correction toward comprehensive full-face strategies. However, many current injection techniques remain region-based, leading to inconsistent results and limited reproducibility. Reliable and reproducible methodologies are essential for delivering outcomes that align with patient expectations and broader aesthetic ideals. OBJECTIVE: To introduce the Visual Aesthetics (VA) methodology, a structured, patient-centered framework designed to enhance standardization, safety, and clinica

Secondary rhinoplasty outcomes in unilateral cleft lip patients: A photogrammetric analysis.

Secondary rhinoplasty (SRP) in patients with matured unilateral cleft lip and palate remains a surgical challenge due to nasal asymmetry, tip ptosis, and alar deformities. This study aimed to quantitatively assess morphological nasal changes using photogrammetric angular analysis and correlate them with patient-reported satisfaction. Thirty SRP patients were compared with 30 controls. Pre- and post-surgical profile and basal images were analysed using lateral and basal soft tissue angular measurements. Postoperative results showed significant improvements in nasal symmetry and tip projection,

Surgical Correction of Cryptotia with Double V-Y Advancement Technique.

BACKGROUND: Cryptotia is a common auricular abnormality in Orientals. A variety of surgical techniques were reported for cryptotia correction. We observed that skin cords and connective tissues exist in the cranioauricular sulcus when traction is applied to the auricle. For restoring the contour of the upper pole of the auricle and releasing the skin cords in the cranioauricular sulcus, we applied the technique of double V-Y advancement flaps for correction of cryptotia. METHODS: The two consecutive V-Y advancement flap incisions were designed on the superior and posterosuperior parts of the

Stability of Hairline Lowering Using Small Footprint Soft Tissue Anchoring Devices.

OBJECTIVES: One principle of facial aesthetics is based on "facial thirds," and hairline recession/large foreheads disrupt this balance. Hairline lowering can improve harmonious aesthetics and often uses bioabsorbable implants. This study seeks to establish the outcomes and stability of hairline lowering using the Endotine Forehead-mini in a single-surgeon cohort in the United States. METHODS: This is a retrospective review of a single-surgeon cohort from 2011 to 2024 that underwent hairline lowering. Patient demographics, outcomes, and complications were documented. Upper facial third ratios

Local Flaps in Nasal Reconstruction Following Non-Melanocytic Skin Cancer Ablation.

BACKGROUND: The nose is a common site of non-melanocytic skin cancers owing to its central facial location and chronic sun exposure. Surgical ablation of these tumors often results in complex defects involving convex surfaces and aesthetically critical subunits. Local flap techniques are preferred over skin grafts because of their superior tissue matching, contour restoration, and structural integrity. However, selecting an appropriate flap based on defect characteristics is essential for achieving optimal outcomes. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Between March 2024 and March 2025, 12 patients underwe

Application of Orbital Septal Fat Repositioning Combined With SVF-Gel Fillers in Lower Blepharoplasty.

BACKGROUND: Lower blepharoplasty is a widely used cosmetic surgical procedure to improve under-eye bags and tear trough deformities, aiming to enhance facial aesthetics and achieve a more youthful appearance. The formation of these deformities is often associated with factors such as aging, skin laxity, and fat displacement. Traditional surgical methods include orbital septal fat repositioning and fat grafting, each with its own advantages and limitations. Transconjunctival blepharoplasty avoids external incisions by performing the surgery through the conjunctiva, thereby reducing postoperativ

The L-Lift: A Novel Technique for Jawline Contouring Using Calcium Hydroxylapatite in Southeast Asians.

The aging process changes the youthful facial contour from heart-shaped to triangular. Lower face rejuvenation and jawline contouring procedures can help prevent or reduce these changes. Traditional approaches for lower face rejuvenation and jawline contouring include surgical facelifts; however, using less invasive procedures to achieve these outcomes is becoming increasingly popular. This article introduces the L-Lift, a novel technique for jawline contouring in Southeast Asians. The L-Lift involves administering sequential calcium hydroxylapatite injections along the lower border of the man

A Comprehensive Ultrasound Investigation of Lower Facial and Neck Structure.

BACKGROUND: The jawline and neck significantly influence facial aesthetics. Botulinum toxin and filler are highly favored as minimally invasive jawline rejuvenation procedures. However, little evidence exists on the age-related skin and superficial fat tissue transformations in healthy individuals to guide targeted interventions. METHODS: A quantitative sonographic assessment was conducted on 51 patients. Total soft tissue thickness (the skin and superficial fat compartments) was measured at eight sites along the jawline and four sites at the neck. Among them, 21 patients received botulinum t

Predicting optimal patient-specific postoperative facial landmarks for patients with craniomaxillofacial deformities.

Orthognathic surgery primarily corrects skeletal anomalies and malocclusion to enhance facial aesthetics, aiming for an improved facial appearance. However, this traditional skeletal-driven approach may result in undesirable residual asymmetry. To address this issue, a soft tissue-driven planning methodology has been proposed. This technique estimates bone movements based on the envisioned optimal facial appearance, thereby enhancing surgical accuracy and effectiveness. This study investigates the initial implementation phase of the soft tissue-driven approach, simulating the patient's ideal a
