We examined the relationship of axillary level of lymph node metastases from clinical stage I and II breast cancer to overall survival and disease-free survival rates in 135 patients who underwent complete axillary lymph node dissection to determine if anatomic level of axillary involvement (I vs II vs III) is an independent prognostic factor. BACKGROUND: The aim of this registry study was to evaluate the progress of osteoarthrosis (OA) symptoms after the intake of a new standardized supplement combination (Pycnogenol® + Centellicum®, both Horphag Research) in a group of subjects with OA.

Acute fasting causes elevated oxidative stress. The current study investigated the effects of the nuclear factor erythoid 2-related factor 2 (Nrf2), the sensor of oxidative stress in cells, on energy homeostasis and liver pathophysiology during fasting. Feed was removed from mice possessing none (Nrf2-null), normal (wild-type, WT), enhanced (Keap1-knockdown, K1-KD), and maximum (hepatocyte-specific Keap1-knockout, K1-HKO) Nrf2 activity in liver for 24 h. Body weight, blood glucose, and blood lipid profiles were similar among mice with graded Nrf2 activity under either fed or fasted conditions.

Radical operative treatment of ulcerative colitis and regional granulomatous enteritis leads to satisfactory short-term results. The high mortality of one-stage proctocolectomy in the acute case can be markedly reduced by a staged operation. The same applies for surgery in toxic megacolon. INTRODUCTION: Immunoglobulin G4 (IgG4)-related constrictive pericarditis (CP) is a rare condition with no standardized treatment. Surgical pericardiectomy is challenging due to dense adhesions and the risk of injury to the phrenic nerves and heart. Conventional energy devices carry risks of thermal damage. We report a novel application of a microwave ablation device (Acrosurg; Nikkiso, Tokyo, Japan) for radical pericardiectomy, highlighting its advantages in preventing nerve injury and ensuring hemostatic control.
