Understanding the Role of Clinical and Functional Needs in Home-Visit Nursing Effectiveness: Evidence From South Korea.

OBJECTIVES: This study aims to examine the differential impact of home-visit nursing services on health outcomes, healthcare utilization, and healthcare costs among long-term care beneficiaries in South Korea. By categorizing beneficiaries based on clinical and functional needs, we explore which subgroups benefit the most from these services. METHODS: Using data from the National Health Insurance Service, we analyzed older adults newly eligible for long-term care services between 2016 and 2018 (n = 140 968). Participants were classified into 4 subgroups based on clinical and functional needs:

Differences in Sexual Health Clinic Services by Age and Gender in Metropolitan Boston.

BACKGROUND: This study aimed to analyze differences in sexual health clinic service utilization by age and gender. Medications for opioid use disorder and other evidence-based service offerings in faith-affiliated treatment centers: Implications for implementation partnerships.

INTRODUCTION: Amidst an ongoing surge of opioid use disorder (OUD) incidence, clinicians and policymakers are seeking partnerships with faith communities - including with faith-affiliated treatment centers (FATCs) - to expand access to evidence-based OUD treatment. However, little is known whether FATCs differentially offer such evidence-based treatment services, particularly medications for opioid use disorder (MOUD) and co-occurring mental health care. METHODS: We use the 2021 National Substance Use and Mental Health Services Survey (N-SUMHSS) to examine differences in provision of several

A Million Person Study Innovation: Evaluating Cognitive Impairment and other Morbidity Outcomes from Chronic Radiation Exposure Through Linkages with the Centers for Medicaid and Medicare Services Assessment and Claims Data.

The study of One Million U.S. Radiation Workers and Veterans, the Million Person Study (MPS), examines the health consequences, both cancer and non-cancer, of exposure to ionizing radiation received gradually over time. Recently the MPS has focused on mortality patterns from neurological and behavioral conditions, e.g., Parkinson's disease, Alzheimer's disease, dementia, and motor neuron disease such as amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. A fuller picture of radiation-related late effects comes from studying both mortality and the occurrence (incidence) of conditions not leading to death. According

Trends and Patterns of Social History Data Collection Within an Electronic Health Record.

There is increased acceptance that social and behavioral determinants of health (SBDH) impact health outcomes, but electronic health records (EHRs) are not always set up to capture the full range of SBDH variables in a systematic manner. The purpose of this study was to explore rates and trends of social history (SH) data collection-1 element of SBDH-in a structured portion of an EHR within a large academic integrated delivery system. EHR data for individuals with at least 1 visit in 2017 were included in this study. Completeness rates were calculated for how often SBDH variable was assessed a

Association of cardiorespiratory hospital admissions with ambient volatile organic compounds: Evidence from a time-series study in Taipei, Taiwan.

As important precursors of ozone and secondary organic aerosols, the harmful impact of exposure to ambient volatile organic compounds (VOCs) is of public health interest. However, few studies have investigated the health risks of numerous individual VOC species. This study linked the daily concentrations of 54 C2-C11 VOC species monitored from the Wanhua Photochemical Assessment Monitoring Station and hospital admissions for cardiorespiratory diseases in Taipei, Taiwan, from the National Health Insurance Research Database. A standard time-series approach entailing a series of sensitivity analy

Health-seeking behaviors and sexually transmitted diseases among adolescents attending an urban pediatric emergency department.

INTRODUCTION: Adolescents are often seen in Emergency departments (ED) for urgent care. Rates of treatable sexually transmitted diseases (Neisseria gonorrhoeae and Chlamydia trachomatis) are highest in this age group. This study examines the prevalence of these sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) and the health seeking characteristics of adolescents presenting to an urban pediatric ED. METHODS: Participants were enrolled between January 2000 and July 2004. Urine specimens (tested for the STDs) and a questionnaire data form (demographics and health seeking behaviors) were collected and scanne

The "Iron Triangle" of Healthcare Services: Evaluating an Integrated Healthcare Alliance's Impact on Primary Care in Shenzhen, China.

INTRODUCTION: In response to the challenges of inequitable healthcare access and underdeveloped primary care systems, integrated care reforms have emerged as a promising solution. This study examines the effectiveness of one such reform, i.e. the establishment of a cross-regional, tightly integrated healthcare alliance (specifically an urban healthcare group) in the resource-constrained Dapeng District of Shenzhen, China. We assess its impact on service delivery performance through the lens of three core health system objectives: accessibility, quality, and affordability. METHODS: We utilised

Sociodemographic Factors Associated with Opioid Agonist Treatment Receipt and Retention at an Integrated Safety-Net Health System.

INTRODUCTION: Sociodemographic differences in opioid use disorder (OUD) treatment engagement have implications for population health. Continuum of care models can guide the opioid epidemic response by identifying differences in treatment patterns. We evaluated one such model at an integrated, safety-net health system in Denver, Colorado and examined the association of patient characteristics with opioid agonist treatment (OAT) receipt and retention. METHODS: We identified a cohort of patients with OUD from 2023 to 2024 from electronic health records. We used multivariable regression to estima

Impact of Social Determinants of Health on Post-operative Outcomes Following Robotic Radical Prostatectomy.

PURPOSE: Social determinants of health are increasingly recognized as key contributors to disparities in healthcare access and outcomes. With robotic-assisted radical prostatectomy now widely adopted as the preferred surgical approach for localized prostate cancer, this systematic review evaluates how individual social determinants of health influence access to robotic surgery and postoperative outcomes. MATERIALS AND METHODS: This review adhered to PRISMA guidelines and was registered with PROSPERO (CRD420256270179). A comprehensive search of PubMed and EBSCO identified studies examining soc
