Ten rats were divided into five groups, A - E, to determine the larval dose-effect of infection with Strongyloides venezuelensis (SVZ). The rat groups were exposed to SVZ infective larvae as follow: (A) 100, (B) 1,000, (C) 10,000, (D) 100,000 and (E) 1,000,000. The eight rats in Groups A - D survived the infection. Rats exposed to the higher doses of larvae had the higher egg per gram counts (EPG), but more rapid reduction in EPG counts. Posttherapy evaluation of strongyloidiasis is frequently difficult because coprologic examination is not sensitive enough for diagnosis of chronic infection. The laboratory study of dracunculiasis has suffered from the lack of a suitable, readily available animal model. We have been able to experimentally infect ferrets. Mustela putorius furo, with the North American dracunculid, Dracunculus insignis. Ferrets were inoculated with 75 to 100 infective larvae and were necropsied 90 to 240 days later. Test mice have been selectively reared for high (H) or low (L) immune responses to Nematospiroides dubius. In Guatemala, 16 wild Simulium ochraceum were permitted to feed on a 15" x 15" grid on the back of each of 13 persons infected with Onchocerca volvulus. Three cases of external ophthalmomyiasis are reported here. The larvae were identified to be Oestrus ovis in two cases and Cochliomyia hominivorax in one. Two of the patients were immunocompetent while one was undergoing treatment for squamous cell carcinoma of eyelid. In the latter myiasis led to complete destruction of the eye.

Myiasis is a pathological condition in humans and animals caused by various species of dipterous larvae. Myiasis which occurs in a newborn baby is referred as neonatal myiasis. It is a rare condition and there are only a few reports to date. A case of neonatal aural myiasis in a two day old infant is reported in this paper.

The purpose of this report is to describe a case of solitary breast cysticercosis presenting as a banal breast lump in a 15-year-old girl. Surgical excision was performed and histological examination demonstrated the presence of two Cysticercus cellulosae larvae. Characteristic features of this uncommon location are discussed based on a review of the literature.

Racemose cysticercal cyst is the subarachnoid manifestation of the larvae of Taenia solium. On MRI the cysts may resemble other cystic masses.
