Hailey-Hailey disease (HHD) is a rare, autosomal dominant intraepidermal blistering disorder characterized by recurrent vesicles and erosions affecting mostly the intertriginous areas. We report a case of HHD affecting exclusively the vulva from which an invasive squamous cell carcinoma developed after tacrolimus therapy.

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES: Lymph-node dissection in gastric cancers with esophageal invasion (AGCE) is of current interest. This study examined the significance of inferior mediastinal lymph-node (IM) and para-aortic lymph-node (PA) dissection for this type of cancer.
METHOD: Two hundred and seventy cases of AGCE were clinicopathologically reviewed. An index of estimated benefit from lymph-node dissection (IEBLD) was calculated from the frequency of lymph node metastasis in IM and PA, and from 5-year survival rates for metastatic cases.

Undifferentiated pleomorphic sarcoma was a well-known tumor that usually involves the soft tissues. However, in the alimentary tract, it was seldom reported. The external beam irradiation plays a very important role in the treatment of some thyroid diseases, such as primary cancers (papillary, follicular, medullary and anaplastic), malignant lymphoma and bone metastasis. The treatment policies, the irradiation techniques and the treatment results of these diseases are described from our experiences and the literature. A 46-year-old man was admitted because of ileus. He had undergone an operation for lung carcinoma (stage IA) 8 years previously in another hospital. Because small bowel enema study showed widespread stricture of the ileum, we performed an operation. During the operation we diagnosed metastatic small bowel carcinoma. Because the resected sample of the small bowel carcinoma was similar to the lung carcinoma pathologically and detailed examination after the operation showed no other neoplasm, we considered this case to be small bowel metastasis of the lung carcinoma resected 8 years previously.

OBJECTIVES: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the feasibility and surgical outcome of robotic radical hysterectomy with pelvic lymphadenectomy for stage I cervical carcinoma using the da Vinci surgical system.
METHODS: A retrospective clinical review was performed of ten patients with FIGO stage IA2-IB1 cervical carcinoma who underwent a total robotic approach for definitive surgical treatment. We report on a 45-year-old patient who presented with a 7 cm palpable right breast mass which had been classified as a cyst by ultrasonography. Multiple aspiration cytologies revealed no evidence of malignancy. Repeat sonography in our institution showed a lesion at 1 o'clock, 1 cm deep, and 3-8 cm from the nipple. AIM: This study investigates the potential relation between breast cancer location and axillary lymph node involvement (ALNI).
METHODS: Out of all cases with unilateral first-time diagnosis of invasive breast cancer in Malmö, Sweden, between 1961 and 1991, 3472 underwent axillary dissection. The association between tumour location and ALNI was investigated using logistic regression analysis (adjusted for potential confounders) yielding odds ratios (OR), with a 95% confidence interval.
