A sustainable and green HPLC-PDA technique for the simultaneous estimation of Post-COVID-19 syndrome co-administered drugs with greenness and whiteness assessment.

COVID-19 has been a growing global concern in the past four years. Several syndromes associated with this multi-organ viral infection have been observed since the outbreak. According to estimates, 10-15% of people with SARS-CoV- infection may have post-COVID-19 syndrome. Even months after infection, common residual signs and symptoms include myalgia, exhaustion, shortness of breath, rapid heartbeat, stroke, and memory and cognitive impairment which can negatively affect survivors' quality of life and may consequently lead to their death. Therefore, it is necessary to think about potential ther

No difference in emergence time and early cognitive function between sevoflurane-fentanyl and propofol-remifentanil in patients undergoing craniotomy for supratentorial intracranial surgery.

Balanced anesthesia with sevoflurane-fentanyl has been widely accepted as anesthetic management for neurosurgery. Propofol-remifentanil regimen has been successfully used in various surgical settings, but a comprehensive comparison of sevoflurane-fentanyl and propofol-remifentanil anesthesia in patients undergoing craniotomy for supratentorial intracranial surgery has not yet been done. The aim of this prospective, randomized, open-label clinical trial was to compare clinical properties of sevoflurane-fentanyl with propofol-remifentanil anesthesia in patients undergoing supratentorial intracra

Histone deacetylase inhibitor sodium butyrate increases risk-taking during acquisition of the rat gambling task.

RATIONALE: Pairing casino-inspired audiovisual cues with reward delivery significantly increases risky decision-making in laboratory-based gambling tasks across rats and humans. The neurocognitive mechanisms underlying this effect are unclear. Data from the rat gambling task (rGT) suggests win-paired cues render choice insensitive to reinforcer devaluation, indicating habitual control of decision-making. Histone deacetylase enzymes (HDACs) negatively mediate gene expression. Inhibiting this process can facilitate the formation of long-term memories and accelerate habit formation. OBJECTIVE: W

Deep neural models for extracting entities and relationships in the new RDD corpus relating disabilities and rare diseases.

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVE: There is a huge amount of rare diseases, many of which have associated important disabilities. It is paramount to know in advance the evolution of the disease in order to limit and prevent the appearance of disabilities and to prepare the patient to manage the future difficulties. Rare disease associations are making an effort to manually collect this information, but it is a long process. A lot of information about the consequences of rare diseases is published in scientific papers, and our goal is to automatically extract disabilities associated with diseases from t

Coastal canaries.

The winter storms of January and February 2026 caused severe coastal damage along southwest England, reviving memories of the destructive 2013/14 winter and exposing persistent weaknesses in UK coastal resilience policy. Using the Slapton Sands gravel barrier system, in Devon, as a case study, this article argues that repeated damage to the village of Torcross and the A379 road section that runs along the barrier illustrates a broader national cycle of escalating coastal risk despite decades of scientific understanding and strategic planning through Shoreline Management Plans (SMPs). Although

Artificial intelligence for cybersecurity monitoring of cyber-physical power electronic converters: a DC/DC power converter case study.

Power electronic converters are widely implemented in many types of power applications such as microgrids. Power converters can make a physical connection between the power resources and the power application. To control a power converter, required data such as the voltage and the current of that should be measured to be used in a control application. Therefore, a communication-based structure including sensors and communication links can be used to measure the desired data and transmit that to the controllers. So, a power converter-based system can be considered as a type of cyber-physical sy

The clinical utility of ongoing sonographic cervix length surveillance in pregnancies prescribed vaginal progesterone therapy.

BACKGROUND: Vaginal progesterone therapy significantly reduces preterm birth (PTB) rates in those high-risk pregnancies with a sonographic short cervix (≤25 mm) and/or a history of spontaneous PTB. Cervical length (CL) is routinely measured at the midtrimester morphology scan; however, CL surveillance thereafter is not currently recommended. Progesterone's precise mechanism of action remains unknown, though if it indeed influences CL, shortening after treatment initiation could indicate therapeutic failure and risk of PTB. AIMS: The aim was to explore the utility of serial transvaginal ultras

Towards a Comprehensive Account of Rhythm Processing Issues in Developmental Dyslexia.

Developmental dyslexia is typically defined as a difficulty with an individual's command of written language, arising from deficits in phonological awareness. However, motor entrainment difficulties in non-linguistic synchronization and time-keeping tasks have also been reported. Such findings gave rise to proposals of an underlying rhythm processing deficit in dyslexia, even though to date, evidence for impaired motor entrainment with the rhythm of natural speech is rather scarce, and the role of speech rhythm in phonological awareness is unclear. The present study aimed to fill these gaps. D

Distributional effects of Oportunidades on early child development.

The Mexican Oportunidades program is designed to increase human capital through investments in education, health, and nutrition for children in extreme poverty. Although the program is not expressly designed to promote a child's cognitive and non-cognitive development, the set of actions carried out by the program could eventually facilitate improvements in these domains. Previous studies on the Oportunidades program have found little impact on children's cognition but have found positive effects on their non-cognitive development. However, the majority of these studies use the average outcome
