Nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy was employed to investigate the effect of infection with Taenia crassiceps cysticerci on the lipid profile of mouse liver. A single dose of dacarbazine (DTIC), followed by a 5-day intravenous infusion of vindesine (VDS) was administered every 3 weeks to 103 patients with metastatic melanoma. One half of the patients were randomised to receive intravenous methanol extraction residue (MER) of bacillus Calmette-Guerin (BCG) in addition to chemotherapy, on days 7 and 14 of each course. 98 patients were evaluable. A reversed-phase high-performance liquid chromatographic (HPLC) method for the analysis of perphenazine in rabbit plasma was developed. Amitriptyline HCl was used as the internal standard. Three patients had neurologic signs due to isopropyl alcohol (IPA) intoxication. Over a several-week period, a known alcoholic developed apathy, confusion, ataxia, and hyperreflexia. To substantiate high-pressure processing (HPP) as a nonthermal alternative for fresh-like acidified vegetables with extended refrigerated shelf life, this study evaluated HPP at 200, 400, and 600 MPa (3 min, 5°C) on pickled cucumbers in 0.30% and 0.95% acetic acid brine (AA), compared to thermal processing (100°C for 25 min and 77°C for 30 min). Several food dyes are known to induce amyloid fibrillation when interacting with proteins. Here, we studied the role of sunset yellow (SY) in the amyloid fibrillation of hen egg white lysozyme (HEWL) and characterized the changes using spectroscopy techniques.
