Nurse-Led Supportive Physical and Psychological Therapies versus Orthopedic Specialist-Led Usual Care for Postmenopausal Women with Osteoporosis: A 24-Month Prospective, Non-Randomized Interventional Study with Retrospective Data Analysis (Quasi-Experimental Design).

BACKGROUND: Postmenopausal osteoporosis is a progressive skeletal disorder that poses a substantial public health burden due to increased fracture risks. Specialized orthopedic clinics are often structurally constrained by high surgical volumes, limiting their capacity to provide the continuous cognitive reinforcement necessary to maintain long-term medication compliance. Objectives of the study were to evaluate the 24-month clinical utility, behavioral outcomes, and safety profiles of a nurse-led supportive physical and psychological therapy (NT) model compared with traditional orthopedic spe

Assessing the Effectiveness of Crowdsourced Data to Detect Established Tick Populations in Quebec, Canada: Retrospective Ecological Study.

BACKGROUND: The range expansion of ticks transmitting zoonotic diseases in Canada poses challenges for public health surveillance. Active monitoring of where tick populations are emerging helps inform public health responses, but is resource intensive and logistically complex. Crowdsourced data may provide a cost-effective approach to augment surveillance. In this study, we assessed the value of crowdsourced data from eTick, a platform whereby the public submits tick photographs for expert identification. OBJECTIVE: We aimed to (1) characterize spatial patterns of eTick submissions and identi

Epidemiological analysis of sexually transmitted infections pathogens and related microorganisms in South Korea: coinfection patterns and pathogen correlations.

BACKGROUND: Sexually transmitted infections (STIs) affect hundreds of millions of people worldwide each year and remain a major public health concern. The adoption of multiplex PCR, which allows simultaneous detection of multiple pathogens, has led to the accumulation of large-scale data on STI coinfections. In this study, we analyzed multiplex PCR results for 12 microorganisms included in a commercial STI testing panel to characterize epidemiological patterns in South Korea and to quantitatively evaluate pathogen–pathogen coinfection relationships using lift index and phi coefficient. METHODS

Evaluation of inter-fractional anatomical variations due to compression belt placement reproducibility using MR-guided radiotherapy treatment fraction images.

BACKGROUND: Abdominal compression (AC) using a belt-based system is widely employed in radiation therapy to limit respiration-induced target motion for abdominal and hepatic malignancies. While AC has demonstrated efficacy in reducing intrafraction motion amplitude, the interfractional anatomical consequences of daily compression belt (CB) placement variability remain poorly characterized. A clearer understanding of this variability is necessary to determine whether online adaptive radiotherapy (oART) is required to maintain dosimetric robustness throughout the treatment course. PURPOSE: This

Tracking development assistance for health, 1990-2030: historical trends, recent cuts, and outlook.

BACKGROUND: Development assistance for health (DAH) rose to its highest levels during the COVID-19 pandemic but has since reduced amid rising global economic uncertainty and competing fiscal demands. In early 2025, major donors including the USA and the UK announced substantial reductions in aid, prompting concerns about the future of health financing in middle-income and low-income countries. To date, no comprehensive assessment has quantified the effects of these announced cuts on overall DAH levels or its future trajectories. METHODS: We estimated DAH from 1990 to 2030, drawing from a wide

Non-specific effects of different sham acupuncture methods and their impact on true acupuncture effectiveness in migraine: a protocol for systematic review and network meta-analysis.

INTRODUCTION: Migraine, a major headache disorder of high prevalence, affects approximately one billion individuals globally and imposes a substantial socioeconomic burden. Acupuncture, as a modality of complementary and alternative medicine, is increasingly used by patients for migraine management. Nevertheless, the effectiveness of acupuncture in randomised controlled trials (RCTs) for this condition remains a subject of debate. The varying non-specific effects of different sham acupuncture (SA) techniques complicate the accurate assessment of true therapeutic effectiveness of acupuncture. T

A Phenome-Wide association study (PheWAS) of genetic risk for C-reactive protein in children of European Ancestry: Results from the ABCD study.

BACKGROUND: C-reactive protein (CRP) is a moderately heritable marker of systemic inflammation that is associated with adverse physical and mental health outcomes. Identifying factors associated with genetic liability to elevated CRP in childhood may inform our understanding of variability in CRP that could be targeted to prevent and/or delay the onset of related health outcomes. METHODS: We conducted a phenome-wide association study (PheWAS) of genetic risk for elevated CRP (i.e. CRP polygenic risk score [PRS]) among children genetically similar to European ancestry reference populations (me

Prenatal ultrasound diagnosis and quality control of fetal nuchal translucency.

OBJECTIVES: In clinical ultrasound examinations, it is challenging to perform quality control on the images of each fetal nuchal translucency (NT) and crown-rump length (CRL). However, small measurement differences can increase the probability of false-positive or false-negative diagnosis. Therefore, it is necessary to establish a quality control system for fetal NT examination. This study aims to control the quality of fetal NT and CRL measurements, evaluate the accuracy of ultrasound physicians in early pregnancy NT measurements, and analyze the impact of increased fetal structure screening
