Ganoderma lucidum spore oil ameliorates high-fat-diet-induced hepatic lipid metabolism disorder by modulation of the gut microbiota.

BACKGROUND: Obesity is a major global public health challenge. A high-fat diet (HFD) is a key contributing factor, closely associated with gut microbiota dysbiosis. Although immunomodulatory effects of Ganoderma lucidum spore oil (GLSO) have been reported, its role in lipid metabolism disorders and its interaction with gut microbiota remain incompletely understood. RESULTS: In this study, an HFD-induced obese mouse model was established and treated with GLSO (800 mg kg-1 day-1) for 82 days. Integrated analyses - including 16S rRNA sequencing, metabolomics, fecal fermentation of GLSO (FGLSO),

Tea tree oil infused Pluronic copolymer/Xanthan scaffolds: Biomarkers profiling and bactericidal impact in simulated wound healing environments.

The human skin, a dynamic defense shield for intricate organs, must heal promptly in the event of injury to safeguard delicate internal organs from infection and environmental stress. The infiltration of microbes into open wounds may exacerbate complications and prolong the healing process. Oral, intravenous, or topical administration of antibiotics are commonly practiced conventional methods, which generally face challenges like optimal dosage, delivery at site of infection, repeated administration, and antibiotic. Therefore, three dimensional (3D) printed scaffolds with sustained degradation

Effects of pressure-resistant bilayer microcapsules and ultra-high pressure on gel stability and nutrient retention of high-oil surimi gels.

Thermal processing of yellowfin tuna (Thunnus albacares) often results in lipid oxidation and textural degradation, particularly in high-oil formulations. In this study, a pressure-resistant "rigid-elastic" bilayer microcapsule (gelatin: κ-carrageenan: carboxymethyl chitosan = 3: 1: 1, onset thermal degradation temperature = 395 °C) was developed and combined with ultra-high pressure (UHP, 300 MPa) to improve the stability of fish oil-enriched surimi gels. The microcapsules maintained morphology integrity after UHP treatment, exhibiting a low fracture rate of 0.6%, which enabled effective phys

Influences of organic nitrogen application ratio on oil content in flue-cured tobacco based on field experiments and a random forest model.

Tobacco is a key economic crop, with leaf oil content serving as a critical determinant of leaf quality. To address the limited understanding of mechanisms underlying oil content improvement and the decline in flue-cured tobacco quality caused by long-term reliance on chemical fertilizers, this study integrated field experiments with a machine learning approach. Five treatments with varying organic nitrogen ratios (0%, 10%, 20%, 30%, and 40%) were evaluated at a single experimental site in Hengyang, Hunan. Results indicated that a 30% organic nitrogen ratio significantly enhanced the activity

Multilayer packaging with CO2/O2-selective gas regulation and humidity-responsive release of cinnamon essential oil for cherry tomato preservation.

Fresh produce preservation remains a major challenge due to nutrient loss and microbial spoilage. Here, we reported a biobased paper window that combined gas regulation with humidity-responsive antimicrobial release of cinnamon essential oil (CEO) to address these challenges. The bifunctional paper window exhibited appropriate gas permeability and CO2/O2 selectivity (2.1-6.0). Molecular dynamics simulations revealed the mechanism of selectivity, showing a 16.9-fold stronger CO2 adsorption than O2 at 100 kPa. Furthermore, humidity generated from produce respiration and transpiration triggered s

Phase behavior of Tween 80/SDBS mixed microemulsions and mechanistic insights into enhanced oil separation from aged oily sludge.

To address the demand for resource recovery of aged oily sludge (AOS), this study developed a middle-phase microemulsion (Winsor III microemulsion) using commercially available sodium dodecyl benzene sulfonate (SDBS) and Tween 80. A multiscale synergistic mechanism of "micro-triggering→interfacial regulation→macro-repair" was elucidated. By integrating one-dimensional (1D) and two-dimensional correlation spectroscopy (2D-COS, based on FTIR and Raman), we revealed the asynchronous molecular evolution during the oil-in-water (O/W)→Winsor III→water-in-oil (W/O) transition. Specifically, salinity-

Sulfate-reducing bacteria corrosion at 60 °C in the CO2-saturated artificially tight gas produced water containing condensate oil.

In the gas field, steel corrosion issues induced by sulfate-reducing bacteria (SRB) are a crucial factor in pipeline service failure. The effect of condensate oil on SRB corrosion in CO2-containing gas field environments at high temperatures remains unknown. In this work, the inhibition behavior of SRB corrosion at 60 °C induced by condensate oil in the CO2-saturated artificially tight gas produced water was investigated in-depth. The experimental results indicated that SRB can maintain a certain level of bioactivity in the test solution at 60 °C, although the cell concentrations appear to dec
