BACKGROUND: Mechanism of testicular elevation during erection is not known. We investigated the hypothesis that erection evokes reflex cremasteric muscle (CM) contraction which effects testicular elevation.
METHODS: Electromyographic (EMG) response of CM to erection was recorded in 26 healthy volunteers (age 36.7 +/- 6.8 SD years). Erection was induced by intracavernosal injection of alprostadil. CM response was tested before and after individual glans penis (GP) and CM anesthetization.

Erectile dysfunction (ED) is an increasingly prevalent medical problem, affecting up to 50% of men aged between 40 and 70-y-old. Many cases are vasculogenic and some of these stem from the inability of the penis to store blood during erection due to leak into the venous system, termed corporo-venocclusive dysfunction (CVOD). The area of leakage during erection could be the most direct measure of erectile function but has not been investigated before. We report here on our surgical experience with venous leakage of the cavernous bodies. Out of 159 patients operated on, 134 were available for long-term follow-up. Depending on the cavernosographic findings, one of three different surgical procedures was carried out: ligation of the deep dorsal vein of the penis, spongiosolysis, or ligation of the crura. 18% of the patients undergoing ligation of the deep dorsal vein, postoperatively attained spontaneous erections, while 35% needed adjuvant corpus cavernosum autoinjection therapy. BACKGROUND: Trans phantoms are bodily sensations of gendered body parts that a person was not born with (i.e., a phantom penis experienced by a trans man, or a phantom vagina experienced by a trans woman). This is distinct from the experience of many transgender and gender diverse (TGD) people, who experience awareness of their bodies as missing a gendered body part, or configuration, which is a major characteristic of gender dysphoria.
