Predicting Blood Pressures for Pregnant Women by PPG and Personalized Deep Learning.

Blood pressure (BP) is predicted by this effort based on photoplethysmography (PPG) data to provide effective pre-warning of possible preeclampsia of pregnant women. Towards frequent BP measurement, a PPG sensor device is utilized in this study as a solution to offer continuous, cuffless blood pressure monitoring frequently for pregnant women. PPG data were collected using a flexible sensor patch from the wrist arteries of 194 subjects, which included 154 normal individuals and 40 pregnant women. Deep-learning models in 3 stages were built and trained to predict BP. The first stage involves de

Artificial intelligence-driven electrocardiography: Innovations in hypertrophic cardiomyopathy management.

Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy (HCM) presents a complex diagnostic and prognostic challenge due to its heterogeneous phenotype and clinical course. Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) techniques hold promise in transforming the role of Electrocardiography (ECG) in HCM diagnosis, prognosis, and management. AI, including Deep Learning (DL), enables computers to learn patterns from data, allowing for the development of models capable of analyzing ECG signals. DL models, such as convolutional neural networks, have shown promise in accurately identifying HCM-related abnormalities in

Comparisons of deep learning and machine learning while using text mining methods to identify suicide attempts of patients with mood disorders.

BACKGROUND: Suicide attempt is one of the most severe consequences for patients with mood disorders. This study aimed to perform deep learning and machine learning while using text mining to identify patients with suicide attempts and to compare their effectiveness. METHODS: A total of 13,100 patients with mood disorders were selected. Two traditional text mining methods, logistic regression and Support vector machine (SVM), and one deep learning model (Convolutional neural network, CNN) were adopted to perform overall analysis and gender-specific subgroup analysis of patients to identify sui

Predicting coronary artery abnormalities in Kawasaki disease: Model development and validation.

Routine echocardiography at one month after diagnosis is the current standard for screening coronary artery abnormalities (CAA), a major complication of Kawasaki disease. The study aimed to develop and validate models to predict CAA and assess whether routine echocardiography could be safely reduced in low-risk patients. Two prospective multicenter Japanese registries were utilized: PEACOCK (development/internal validation) and Post-RAISE (external validation). Variables obtained within one week of diagnosis were used to predict CAA at one month after diagnosis, defined as a maximum coronary a

Study on the quantitative analysis of Tilianin based on Raman spectroscopy combined with deep learning.

Tilianin is a commonly used pharmaceutical ingredient with various biological activities such as antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and anticancer, which is able to exert antitumor effects by inhibiting tumor cell proliferation, inducing apoptosis and inhibiting angiogenesis. Studies have demonstrated to be particularly useful in a variety of cancers such as liver, lung and gastric cancers. Quantitative analysis of Tilianin can improve the quality control of related drugs and assist in guiding clinical application and disease treatment. However, there are limited studies on the quantitative analy

Evaluating the predictive potential of Th1 (IFN-γ+CD4+)/CD4+ in rapidly progressive amyotrophic lateral sclerosis.

BACKGROUND: Th1 (IFN-γ+CD4+)/CD4+ cells exacerbate the release of pro-inflammatory cytokines, contributing to neuronal death. It is proposed that the peripheral immune system plays a pivotal role in the pathophysiology of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). This study aims to develop an interpretable machine learning model based on blood Th1/CD4+ cells to predict rapidly progressive ALS. METHODS: We enrolled 564 patients with sporadic ALS who met the eligibility inclusion criteria for further analysis. Immune cells and cytokines were quantified using flow cytometric cell counting and a flow

Predicting fracture outcomes from clinical registry data using artificial intelligence supplemented models for evidence-informed treatment (PRAISE) study protocol.

BACKGROUND: Distal radius (wrist) fractures are the second most common fracture admitted to hospital. The anatomical pattern of these types of injuries is diverse, with variation in clinical management, guidelines for management remain inconclusive, and the uptake of findings from clinical trials into routine practice limited. Robust predictive modelling, which considers both the characteristics of the fracture and patient, provides the best opportunity to reduce variation in care and improve patient outcomes. This type of data is housed in unstructured data sources with no particular format o

101 machine learning algorithms for predicting mortality in critically ill patients with spinal cord injury and sarcopenia: a multi-database study.

BACKGROUND: Critically ill patients with spinal cord injury (SCI) and those at high risk for sarcopenia represent vulnerable populations with heightened mortality risks. Traditional prognostic scores often fail to capture the unique pathophysiology of these patients. This study aimed to develop and validate machine learning-based models using easily obtainable clinical features to stratify mortality risk for patients with SCI, high-risk sarcopenia, or both conditions. METHODS: This retrospective observational study utilized data from the MIMIC-IV (training set; n = 7904) and eICU-CRD (validati

Fresh Dairy Quality in the Era of Smart Food Systems: Deterioration Pathways, Analytical Technologies, and Predictive Modeling.

This review critically examines product-specific deterioration pathways in fresh dairy products and evaluates how analytical technologies, kinetic models, chemometric tools, and machine learning approaches support quality assessment and shelf-life prediction. Current evidence shows that many studies identify storage-related changes; however, few can predict the point at which a product reaches its acceptability limit and end of shelf-life. Reliable shelf-life prediction therefore requires a clear definition of the dominant deterioration pathway, a representative quality indicator, and a well-d

Cognitive prediction using regional connectivities and network biomarkers in Alzheimer's disease.

Achieving a deep understanding of brain mechanisms requires multi-scale perspectives to capture the architecture of complex networks. In this study, we focused on patients with cognitive impairment and constructed individual brain networks from neuroimaging data. We introduced a Significant Edges Selection (SES) method, which effectively extracts the most informative connections while suppressing noise. Using these refined features, we computed network characteristics and applied machine learning models to predict cognitive performance, achieving a prediction accuracy of correlation r = 0.683
