Conducting an implementation intervention study with American Indian and Alaska Native communities: Methodological considerations.

BACKGROUND: Incorporating American Indian and Alaska Native (AI/AN) traditional practices and knowledge into healthcare can support AI/AN health. Drug overdose deaths disproportionately impact AI/AN communities due to colonization, genocide, historical trauma, discriminatory policies, and under-resourced healthcare. Medications for opioid use disorder (MOUD; e.g., buprenorphine, methadone, naltrexone) are considered the most effective treatment for reducing mortality. Integrating AI/AN cultural practices with MOUD may increase acceptability and uptake of MOUD within AI/AN communities. METHODS

Assessment of palliative care knowledge among hospital physicians and nurses in conflict-affected, resource-limited settings: a multicentre cross-sectional study.

OBJECTIVES: Most people who require palliative care reside in low- and middle-income countries, particularly those living in areas affected by geopolitical conflict such as Palestine. Given the potential impact of conflicts on the palliative care knowledge of healthcare providers, it is crucial to assess how it is affected by the recent political instability occurring in the area. This study aimed to assess the overall and domain-specific palliative knowledge among physicians and nurses and evaluate the factors associated with palliative care knowledge. DESIGN: Cross-sectional multicentre stu

Knowledge, attitudes, and practice around urinary tract infections of general practice assistants in the Netherlands: a cross-sectional internet survey.

BACKGROUND: In Dutch general practice, urinary tract infections (UTIs) are the most common indication for prescribing antibiotics. General practice assistants (GPAs) are the first point of contact for patients with UTI-associated symptoms and sometimes even manage these cases without consulting a general practitioner. Nevertheless, literature on how GPAs provide and experience UTI-care is limited. METHODS: To investigate the knowledge, attitude, and practice of Dutch GPAs regarding UTIs in general practice, we constructed a cross-sectional online survey. The survey assessed actively working D

Training for ultrasound-guided implantation of central venous catheters eliminates venolysis in pediatric patients.

BACKGROUND: In the pediatric setting, the procurement of vascular access can be particularly difficult. Surgical venolysis was the first technique described but, in recent years, the literature has shown that ultrasound-guided implantation has fewer complications. The principal aim of this paper is to state how after a structured training to place ultrasound-guided central lines, venolysis was definitively abandoned in our hospital. We also analyzed the impact of training on the duration of procedures. Finally, the number of procedures performed per operator to maintain the quality standard ac

Has the Volume and Variability of Procedures Reported by Fellows in ACGME-accredited Musculoskeletal Oncology Fellowship Programs Changed Over Time?

BACKGROUND: There has been a considerable rise in the number of musculoskeletal/orthopaedic oncology fellowships and subsequently, orthopaedic oncologists, in the nation. National societies have been concerned that the increasing number of orthopaedic oncologists, coupled with a limited number of patients with bone and soft-tissue sarcomas in the country, may have led to an unintended impact on the training spectrum and/or exposure of orthopaedic oncology fellows-in-training over time. Fellows who are unable to gain exposure by operating on varied cancer presentations during training may be le
