The clinical effectiveness of a dentifrice containing triclosan and a copolymer for providing long-term control of breath odor measured chromatographically.

The objective of this double-blind clinical study was to investigate the effectiveness of a commercially available dentifrice containing triclosan and a copolymer (Colgate Total Toothpaste) for controlling long-term, i.e., seven-hour and overnight breath odor. In particular, a comparison was made between the level of control of breath odor provided by the test dentifrice, and that provided by a placebo dentifrice which did not contain triclosan or a copolymer. This study followed a two-treatment, two-period crossover design. Prospective subjects were provided with a supply of a commercially av

Small conductance chloride channels in acinar cells from the rat mandibular salivary gland are directly controlled by a G-protein.

This paper reports a 5pS Cl- channel in endpiece cells from the rat mandibular gland. The anion selectivity of the channel was SCN- > (Br- = I-) > NO3- > Cl-, which was similar to whole-cell recordings of a macroscopic anion conductance in these cells. The channel was activated by intracellular Ca2+ at depolarising potentials, with no significant activation when the membrane patch was hyperpolarised. The channel was directly activated by an Al/F complex and GTP gamma S, in separate experiments, applied to the cytosolic face of inside-out excised patches. These G-protein activators stimulated t

Comparison of X-ray Microtomography with Transverse Microradiography for Assessment of Enamel Remineralisation.

OBJECTIVES: Transverse microradiography (TMR) remains the reference standard for assessment of enamel remineralisation, however it is destructive to the sample and precludes longitudinal analysis. X-ray microtomography (XMT) offers a non-destructive alternative, though its accuracy for remineralisation analysis relative to TMR has not been established. The objective of this study was to compare conventional Micro-CT (Cµ-CT), synchrotron radiation-computed tomography (SR-CT) and TMR for assessment of enamel subsurface lesion remineralisation by casein phosphopeptide-amorphous calcium fluoride p

A novel human acute myeloid leukemia cell line SDEY-AML1 with KMT2A: MLLT3, IKZF1: EVX1 fusions exhibits high tumorigenicity in NSG mice.

Human leukemia cell lines play a crucial role in leukemia research, particularly in understanding the pathogenesis of acute leukemia and developing novel therapeutic strategies. We here describe the generation of a novel monocytic cell line SDEY-AML1, harboring alterations in KMT2A::MLLT3, IKZF1::EVX1, ETV6, and TP53 double mutations, and its biological characteristics. We established a cell line, SDEY-AML1, from the mononuclear cells isolated from the bone marrow of a patient with acute myeloid leukemia (AML-M5). Comprehensive morphological and cytogenetic characterization of SDEY-AML1 cells

Biofilm-targeted liposomal curcumin delivery system for anti-caries therapy.

INTRODUCTION: Dental caries, driven by acidogenic biofilms, remains a major global health challenge. Current chemical treatments, such as chlorhexidine and fluoride, can disrupt oral microbial homeostasis and cause adverse effects, including tooth discoloration, dentin hypersensitivity, and taste disturbances. Curcumin, a natural photosensitizer, exhibits antibacterial activity and favorable biocompatibility, however, its clinical application is limited by poor stability, low aqueous solubility, and restricted biofilm penetration. There is an urgent need to develop innovative therapeutic strat

Vitamin D as a candidate host susceptibility factor in sugar-driven oral dysbiosis.

INTRODUCTION: Sugar-sweetened beverages (SSBs) represent a modifiable dietary factor that promotes oral dysbiosis by supplying fermentable sugars and generating low-pH conditions that favor acidogenic and acid-tolerant biofilms. Vitamin D plays a biologically significant role in oral host defense through regulation of the epithelial barrier, induction of antimicrobial peptides, immune modulation, inflammatory control, and mineral metabolism. However, the extent to which vitamin D modifies the SSB -oral microbiome -disease pathway in humans remains unclear. METHODS: This narrative-conceptual r

Comparative Evaluation of Color Stability and Surface Roughness of Bulk-Fill and Nanohybrid Composites Following Long-Term Mouthrinse Exposure: An In Vitro Study.

INTRODUCTION: Composite resin restorations are widely used in restorative dentistry; however, their long-term aesthetic success depends on color stability and surface integrity. Daily exposure to mouthwashes may influence these properties. This study aimed to evaluate and compare the effects of different mouthwash formulations on the color stability and surface roughness of Tetric N-Ceram Nanohybrid (Ivoclar Vivadent, Schaan, Liechtenstein) and Tetric N-Ceram Bulk-Fill (, Ivoclar Vivadent, Schaan, Liechtenstein) composites. Electroencephalography-based Assessment of Neural Responses in Typical and Atypical Children during Dental Treatment.

UNLABELLED: Negligence toward children with special needs frequently has oral health difficulties, which can cause serious problems and impede their access to complete treatment. There are many factors affecting it, considering the behavioral and communication barriers, as well as their high-tendency sensory sensitivity, which makes them more reactive to sounds and sensations associated with dental care. The stress and anxiety associated with dental visits can be compounded for children with special needs, impacting their overall well-being and making future visits more difficult. The aim of t

A chewing gum containing ethylenediaminetetraaceticacid (EDTA), methyl sulfonyl methane (MSM) and xylitol works comparable to chlorehexidine mouthrinse.

Dental plaque provides a proper environment for the growth and activity of bacteria responsible for periodontal diseases and caries. As a result, it should be removed by individuals to prevent periodontal diseases and caries. There are different mechanical and chemical plaque control methods. In one study is shown that dental plaque removal efficacy of dentifrice containing Ethylenediaminetetraaceticacid(EDTA)/Methylsulfonylmethane(MSM) was nearly five times that of commercially available fluoride toothpaste. In another study, authors found that xylitol-containing chewing gums caused a marked

Comprehensive characterization of tobacco-induced changes in enamel surface topography.

INTRODUCTION: Enamel translucency, essential for the aesthetic appeal of teeth, is primarily determined by its thickness, quality, and refractive index. Several factors, including age, genetics, diet, oral hygiene practices, fluoride exposure, and acidic challenges, can influence enamel translucency. Tobacco use, in particular, leads to significant alterations in enamel appearance by penetrating its micropores, causing yellowing and browning. Prolonged exposure to tobacco results in demineralization, increasing enamel porosity and reducing its translucency. Over time, this exposure leads to pe
