Profiling Generalized Anxiety Disorder on Social Networks: Content and Behavior Analysis.

BACKGROUND: Despite a dramatic increase in the number of people with generalized anxiety disorder (GAD), a substantial number still do not seek help from health professionals, resulting in reduced quality of life. With the growth in popularity of social media platforms, individuals have become more willing to express their emotions through these channels. Therefore, social media data have become valuable for identifying mental health status. OBJECTIVE: This study investigated the social media posts and behavioral patterns of people with GAD, focusing on language use, emotional expression, top

Clinical risk factor status in patients with vertebral fracture but normal bone mineral density.

BACKGROUND CONTEXT: Normal bone mineral density (BMD) as measured by dual-energy x-ray absorptiometry (DXA) is present in approximately 10% of older adults with fracture. BMD alone does not evaluate bone quality or clinical risk factors, and therefore, may not adequately capture a patient's fracture risk. Thus, despite a normal DXA-measured BMD, the underlying bone may be abnormal, suggesting that further bone health evaluation, and potentially, pharmacologic treatment may be warranted. PURPOSE: To determine the prevalence of normal BMD, clinical fracture risk factors, and quantitative risk o

["Care" and public nutrition].

In 1990, the Unicef conceptual framework for nutrition recognised the role of care, along with household food security and health services and environment, as one of the three underlying factors of child survival, growth, and development. This model has been adopted at a policy level at the International Conference on Nutrition (Rome, 1992) and over the past ten years the concept of care has been refined through literature reviews, consultative meetings and empirical works. "Care is the provision in the household and the community of time, attention, and support to meet the physical, mental, a

Utilization patterns of healthcare facility and estimated expenditure of PLHIV care under the Indonesian National Health Insurance Scheme in 2018.

BACKGROUND: This study analyzed current patterns of service use, referral, and expenditure regarding HIV care under the National Health Insurance Scheme (JKN) to identify opportunities to improve HIV treatment coverage. As of September 2020, an estimated 543,100 people in Indonesia were living with HIV, but only 352,670 (65%) were aware of their status, and only 139,585 (26%) were on treatment. Furthermore, only 27,917 (4.5%) viral load (VL) tests were performed. Indonesia seeks to broaden its HIV response. In doing so, it intends to replace declining donor-funding through better coverage of H

Body height, body weight, BMI, and nutritional status among male adolescents in Montenegro: a nationwide archival study from 1979 to 1987.

INTRODUCTION: Monitoring anthropometric characteristics such as body height and body weight, as well as body mass index (BMI) is central to understanding biological develop¬ment and population health. Montenegro is known for exceptionally tall stature, which is also reflected in other mentioned variables, yet historical national-level data on adolescent growth during the second half of the 20th century have been limited. The aim of this study was to examine secular trends in body height, body weight, BMI, and nutritional status among male adolescents in Montenegro using nationwide archival dat

The effect of minority status and social context on the development of depression and anxiety: a longitudinal study of Puerto Rican descent youth.

Few longitudinal studies have explored to date whether minority status in disadvantaged neighborhoods conveys risk for negative mental health outcomes, and the mechanisms possibly leading to such risk. We investigated how minority status influences four developmental mental health outcomes in an ethnically homogeneous sample of Puerto Rican youth. We tested models of risk for major depressive disorder (MDD) and generalized anxiety disorder (GAD), depressive and anxiety symptoms (DAS), and psychological distress, as Puerto Rican youth (aged 5-13 years) transitioned to early adulthood (15-29 yea

Pollution status and ecological risks of metals in surface water of a coastal estuary and health risk assessment for recreational users.

Since the areas close to the Sundarbans mangrove estuary, which is one of the most dynamic and productive ecosystems in the world, are very suitable for urban and industrial activities, the coastal areas of this ecosystem are constantly exposed to metal contamination. In this study, we analyzed the levels, spatial distributions, sources, pollution status, ecological risks, and health risks for recreational users of 16 metals in surface water collected from 18 sampling sites in the Sundarbans estuary. Considering the mean values of metals, Sr (2523 μg/L), Al (1731 μg/L), B (1692 μg/L) and Fe (1

Associations between the triglyceride-glucose index combined with novel obesity indicators and depression: a population-based study.

BACKGROUND: Depression is a widespread negative mental health condition globally. Moreover, insulin resistance and obesity have been considered as crucial factors related to depression. The triglyceride-glucose (TyG) index-related obesity indices are novel parameters that can effectively reflect the status of both. Nevertheless, the link between these indices and depression remains unexplored in studies. METHODS: We selected 16,563 adult participants from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) for analysis. Multinomial logistic regression models were used to explore the

Communicating PNPLA3 genetic risk status for NAFLD among Mexican-origin men.

INTRODUCTION: The burden of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) continues to disproportionately impact under-resourced communities in the U.S., particularly Mexican-origin populations. Genetic polymorphisms such as the rs738409 C/G variant in patatin-like phospholipase domain-containing 3 (PNPLA3) have been associated with higher prevalence of and progression along the NAFLD spectrum. This qualitative study conducted in the U.S. Southwest aimed to assess Mexican-origin men's experience receiving genetic testing for PNPLA3 risk carrier status. METHODS: Semi-structured interviews were con

Association between a new indicator with non-alcoholic fatty liver and liver fibrosis in US adults: findings from NHANES 2017-2018.

BACKGROUND: Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) significantly threatens public health. Early diagnosis of NAFLD can prevent adverse outcomes, but the current diagnosis system is still imperfect. Serum markers and their combinations are valuable for detecting diseases, including NAFLD. The advanced lung cancer inflammatory index (ALI) is a comprehensive indicator that reflects the inflammation and nutritional status. Gamma-glutamyl transpeptidase (GGT) is an evaluation index for liver function. This study aims to construct a novel indicator based on ALI and GGT to evaluate NAFLD. METHODS

Unmasking the Risk Factors Associated with Undiagnosed Diabetes and Prediabetes in Ghana: Insights from Cardiometabolic Risk (CarMeR) Study-APTI Project.

INTRODUCTION: Undiagnosed diabetes poses significant public health challenges in Ghana. Numerous factors may influence the prevalence of undiagnosed diabetes among adults, and therefore, using a model that takes into account the intricate network of these relationships should be considered. Our goal was to evaluate fasting plasma levels, a critical indicator of diabetes, and the associated direct and indirect associated or protective factors. METHODS: This research employed a cross-sectional survey to sample 1200 adults aged 25-70 years who perceived themselves as healthy and had not been pre
