Assessing the Capacity of Health Facilities to Deliver Concomitant HPV Vaccination and HPV-Based Cervical Screening Services to Vulnerable Populations - An Implementation Research Protocol.

IntroductionIn Europe, cervical cancer (CC) is the third most common gynaecologic cancer, and the second among women under the age of 45. CC screening uptake is highly variable across the region, and especially low among vulnerable groups.Current evidence suggests that HPV (Human Papilloma Virus) vaccination benefits women beyond traditional adolescent vaccination age groups, and so the HPV-FASTER approach has been proposed as a strategy to accelerate the elimination of CC in Europe. The HPV-FASTER-Implement implementation research project aims to evaluate strategies that integrate HPV-based s

Development of a validated, updated North American pediatric food allergy anaphylaxis management plan.

BACKGROUND: Current North American anaphylaxis action plans (AAPs) lack updated anaphylaxis guidelines that conditionally recommend "immediate activation of emergency medical services" after epinephrine use for patients experiencing a "prompt, complete, and durable response" to treatment. This offers a contextualized "watchful waiting" approach. AAPs may not include newly approved nasal epinephrine or differentiate anaphylaxis presentations by age. OBJECTIVE: To develop an updated AAP. METHODS: A prototype AAP was iteratively developed incorporating a "watchful waiting" approach, the nasal e

Identifying the Local Emergence of Medetomidine Through Prehospital Collaborations.

OBJECTIVES: Medetomidine, an alpha-two receptor agonist, has been recently detected as an adulterant of the illicit opioid supply in multiple states and observed to complicate clinical management of opioid overdoses through sedation, hypotension, and/or bradycardia. Our goal is to describe the process through which a novel adulterant of illicit opioids was identified in our community, and describe the process through which this information was disseminated to key stakeholders, including emergency medical services, emergency medicine and internal medicine providers, local and state departments

Medication Self-Management for Home Care Users Receiving Multidose Drug Dispensing: Qualitative Interview Study.

BACKGROUND: Multidose drug dispensing (MDD) is an adherence aid where medicines are machine-dispensed in disposable unit bags, usually for a 14-day period. MDD replaces manually filled dosettes in many home care services in Norway. While evidence suggests that MDD can improve medication adherence and reduce errors, there are few studies on how patients manage MDD at home and how this affects their daily routines. OBJECTIVE: The aim of the study is to identify factors influencing medication self-management behavior among MDD users living at home and explore how MDD affects medication self-mana

Predictors of future overdose among people who inject drugs in Baltimore, Maryland.

BACKGROUND: Longitudinal studies of future overdose risk among people who inject drugs (PWID) are needed to inform planning of targeted overdose preventions in the United States. METHODS: The Integrating Services to Improve Treatment and Engagement (INSITE) study followed 720 PWID between June 2018 and August 2019 to evaluate the delivery of mobilized healthcare services in Baltimore, Maryland. The present analyses used logistic regression to identify baseline characteristics predictive of non-fatal or fatal overdose during the 6-month follow-up among 507 participants with overdose informatio

Variation in the clinical management of self-harm by area-level socio-economic deprivation: findings from the multicenter study of self-harm in England.

BACKGROUND: We investigated disparities in the clinical management of self-harm following hospital presentation with self-harm according to level of socio-economic deprivation (SED) in England. METHODS: 108 092 presentations to hospitals (by 57 306 individuals) after self-harm in the Multicenter Study of Self-harm spanning 17 years. Area-level SED was based on the English Index of Multiple Deprivation. Information about indicators of clinical care was obtained from each hospital's self-harm monitoring systems. We assessed the associations of SED with indicators of care using mixed effect mode

Teenage first-time mothers' perceptions about their health care needs in the immediate and early postpartum period in Uganda.

BACKGROUND: Teenagers have higher risks for complications during the intrapartum and postpartum periods. Although facility-based postpartum care focusses on preventing complications in mothers and babies, it is not understood what teenage-mothers' perceptions are about their health care needs in the early postpartum period. METHODS: An exploratory descriptive qualitative study was conducted in four health facilities in Uganda. In-depth interviews with 42 first-time teenage mothers aged 14 to 19 years were conducted between March and April 2020. Thematic analysis was done. RESULTS: Two themes
