STUDY DESIGN: A retrospective cohort study.
OBJECTIVE: The aim of this study was to determine the incidence and risk factors for short-term morbidity following posterior spinal fusion (PSF) for neuromuscular scoliosis (NMS).
SUMMARY OF BACKGROUND DATA: NMS is a challenging spinal deformity for which PSF is often recommended. There is a lack of information on risk factors for short-term adverse outcomes after PSF for NMS.

BACKGROUND: Dengue induced acute kidney injury (AKI) imposes heavy burden of illness in terms of morbidity and mortality. A retrospective study was conducted to investigate incidence, characteristics, risk factors and clinical outcomes of AKI among dengue patients.
METHODOLOGY: A total 667 dengue patients (2008-2013) were retrospectively evaluated and were stratified into AKI and non-AKI groups by using AKIN criteria. Two groups were compared by using appropriate statistical methods.
RESULTS: There were 95 patients (14.2%) who had AKI, with AKIN-I, AKIN-II and AKIN-III in 76.8%, 16.8% and 6.

BACKGROUND/PURPOSE: The purpose of this paper was to examine the effect of prenatal counseling in the Advanced Fetal Care Center (AFCC) on the well-being of parents of infants with congenital diaphragmatic hernia (CDH).
METHODS: From 2008 through 2012, 26 mothers and fathers of surgically repaired CDH patients who received prenatal counseling at our institution, and 15 who received no prenatal counseling, each completed the Short-Form 36 version 1 (SF-36v1) at the appropriate time points: prenatal, two weeks, and six months post-surgery.

After orthotopic liver transplantation (OLT), hepatic artery stenoses (HAS) and biliary strictures (BS) are frequent. These complications remain a significant cause of graft loss and patient death. The present study reported a group of 7 patients in whom both HAS and BS were identified and treated surgically in the same surgical session.
