Considering the buffering role of parents in children's post-trauma adjustment, the availability of a valid and reliable measure that captures parental cognitions and coping responses is essential for both clinical practice and research. Although the Parental Trauma Reactions Questionnaire (PTRQ), developed to assess parents' evaluations of and support for their children's coping processes following childhood trauma, provides an important foundation in this field, the lack of model fit evaluation and cross-cultural validation has limited its broader applicability. This study aimed to examine t

BackgroundThe estimated 1.6 million adults in the United States with cancer who also have dependents face unique challenges given the profound impact of cancer on their families, such as increased psychological distress, decreased quality of life, and altered family functioning. Unfortunately, little is known about the mutual cancer-related communication concerns from the perspectives of the parents with cancer or the coparents. Coparents care for the patient and dependents until they reach adulthood (eg, unmarried, divorced, stepparent, and/or same-sex partnerships).ObjectiveTo understand the

OBJECTIVES: Childhood stunting remains a major public health problem in the Northern Province of Rwanda, where approximately 27.1% of children aged 1-36 mo are stunted. While many risk factors have been documented, less is known about social and parenting processes in high-risk conditions of undernutrition for children. In this study, we aimed to explore parental experiences and understandings of the risk of childhood stunting in the Northern Province of Rwanda.
METHODS: We conducted a qualitative study using focus group discussions with 120 parents-mothers and fathers separately-of children

Understanding how animals acquire resources and allocate them to reproduction is fundamental for identifying the factors shaping fitness. In species with biparental care, both the amount each parent invests and how well their efforts are coordinated can influence reproductive success. Yet the benefits of coordination are unlikely to be universal and instead may depend strongly on species' ecology and environmental context. Despite this, many studies still focus on one parent in isolation, overlooking the potential importance of joint investment strategies. Here, we examined how parental effort

The birth and diagnosis of a child with congenital abnormalities can alter parental reproductive patterns, yet its association with subsequent fecundability remains insufficiently explored. We conducted a government-supported matched cohort study in China to evaluate this association and assess whether it varies by the severity of the child's condition and parental characteristics. A total of 2448 couples from the National Free Preconception Check-up Project between 2012 and 2018 attempting to conceive again were included: 612 exposed couples with children affected by congenital abnormalities

INTRODUCTION: Physical activity (PA) is vital during development, yet compliance with the 60-min daily moderate-to-vigorous (MVPA) recommendation remains low in Chile. This study examined direct and indirect support reported by mothers and fathers and their separate associations with children's and adolescents' compliance with MVPA recommendations.
METHODS: A cross-sectional study was conducted with 246 schoolchildren (ages 9-19) from three cities. PA was assessed via the YAP questionnaire, while parental support was measured through a 5-item scale. Logistic regression models identified assoc

BACKGROUND: This project responds to concerns regarding infant deaths occurring in adult-worn slings and carriers (AWSC), the use of which is increasing in the UK. We aimed to explore how and why UK parents and carers use AWSC, their knowledge of AWSC-safety and where they find information about using AWSC.
METHODS: An online survey for parents/carers about AWSC-use was designed in collaboration with a parent advisory group who also tested the survey usability. The survey was circulated via mail-lists and social media by the Durham Infancy and Sleep Centre, as well as AWSC-user groups and bab

Alverine is an antispasmodic agent characterized by extensive metabolism, and systemic exposure is largely driven by its metabolites. However, conventional parent-metabolite pharmacokinetic models typically assume metabolite formation solely from the systemic parent compound, which may not adequately capture route-dependent differences in metabolite exposure. This study aimed to develop an integrated parent-metabolite pharmacokinetic model to simultaneously describe alverine and its three major metabolites (M1, M2, and M3) in mice following intravenous (IV) and per-oral (PO) administration. BACKGROUND: Laryngomalacia (LM) is the most common cause of infant stridor, significantly impacting the quality of life for both patients and caregivers. Early recognition by parents is crucial to reducing morbidity and anxiety. However, parental knowledge, attitudes, and practices (KAP) regarding LM remain underexplored in Saudi Arabia.
METHODS: A nationwide cross-sectional study was conducted from December 2024 to July 2025 among parents residing in Saudi Arabia with at least one child aged ≥6 months. A validated, self-administered questionnaire assessed sociodemographics, knowledge, attitu
