Age-Related Effects of Physical Performance on Technical and Tactical Outcomes in Youth Soccer.

This study explores how age influences the relationship between physical performance (PP) and technical-tactical parameters (TPs) in youth soccer, analyzing 80 matches across four age groups: U15, U17, U19, and NB1 (adults). Team-level data were examined to assess how maturation affects the integration of physical and technical demands. Physical metrics included total distance (TD) and total high-intensity distance (THID), while TP metrics involved actions such as pressing, tackling, and ball possession. Pearson's correlations and general linear models (GLMs) were used to identify associations

Biomechanical inter-relationships between physical and motor features in maximal effort locomotion.

This paper summarises research on the biomechanical inter-relationships between motor and physical features in maximal-effort locomotion. It first addresses separately conducted motion analyses and physical measurements, and then discusses their integration. In running single-leg jump, the human-specific, highest jumping mode, movements induced by actions other than lower-limb extension, such as stance-leg pivoting and pelvic elevation, generate more than half of the effective energy directly contributing to centre-of-mass height, highlighting the relevance of human-specific morphological feat

Global urban activity changes from COVID-19 physical distancing restrictions.

During the COVID-19 pandemic changes in human activity became widespread through official policies and organically in response to the virus's transmission, which in turn, impacted the environment and the economy. The pandemic has been described as a natural experiment that tested how social and economic disruptions impacted different components of the global Earth System. To move this beyond hypotheses, locally-resolved, globally-available measures of how, where, and when human activity changed are critically needed. Here we use satellite-derived nighttime lights to quantify and map daily chan

Social Media Depictions of the Impact of Noise Pollution on Communication and Mental and Physical Health.

Noise pollution is known to have harmful consequences on various facets of human health, as is recognized by the United States Centers for Disease Control and Prevention as well as by the World Health Organization. Even though noise pollution is a ubiquitous and global problem, the public may not be cognizant of its ill-effects. Often, people go online first to obtain information, and YouTube is the second most used social media platform. For these reasons, the objective of this study was to examine the information available by YouTube to the public about parameters pertaining to noise polluti

Predicting academic performance with fuzzy logic in prospective physical education and sports teachers.

Numerous factors contribute to student success in educational settings, with academic support and learning strategies identified as key influences. Existing research highlights that various academic assistance and individual learning approaches shape student success. Although different methods are available for predicting academic achievement, the application of fuzzy logic in this context remains relatively underexplored. This study seeks to address this gap by employing a fuzzy logic model to forecast the exam performance of prospective physical education and sports teachers. Specifically, t

Examining Exercise-Related Cognitive Errors and Social Support for Physical Activity in Pregnancy.

BACKGROUND: Worry about fetal health and lack of social support are commonly reported barriers to physical activity during pregnancy. Exercise-related cognitive errors (ECEs; eg, modifiable cognitions that cause individuals to catastrophize barriers to exercise) may have an independent association with physical activity and influence the relationship between social support and worry with physical activity. This study examined whether maternal-related worry, social support (from family and friends), ECEs, and their interactions differentiated the physical activity of pregnant individuals at 3 d

Childhood Maternal Warmth, Social Safety Schemas, and Adolescent Mental and Physical Health.

IMPORTANCE: Although early maternal warmth strongly predicts adolescent health, questions remain about the biopsychosocial mechanisms underlying this association. OBJECTIVE: To understand how maternal warmth at 3 years of age shapes adolescent social safety schemas at 14 years of age and physical and mental health at 17 years of age. DESIGN, SETTING, AND PARTICIPANTS: The Millennium Cohort Study tracks approximately 19 200 children born from late 2000 to early 2002 in the UK. Participants were assessed from ages 3 to 17 years. EXPOSURE: Low maternal warmth (eg, lack of praise, negative tone

Multi-actor support received by children for physical activity: hearing children's voices.

AIMS: Receiving or lacking support can be decisive in how children engage in and continue with sports hobbies or physical activity (PA) in general. The topic is timely, since the PA levels of children are currently insufficient. However, children's own experiences concerning the support they receive are under-researched. The purpose of this study is to explore from whom, to what extent and what kind of support children experience receiving for PA. METHODS: This mixed-methods study collected empirical data among 11-year-old children, regarding children's own perceptions of PA by local intervie

The Role of Semi-Wild Habitats in the Physical Conditions of Juvenile Alligators: Implications for Conservation.

The number and survival rate of juveniles play a key role in the recovery of Chinese alligators (Alligator sinensis). The differences between artificial and semi-wild environments can directly affect the growth and development of juvenile alligators. This study analyzed the physical conditions (lengths and weights) and cloacal microbial communities of juvenile alligators in both artificial breeding (DJ, ZX) and semi-wild (GJM) environments to reveal the significant effects of environmental pressure on their physiological state and microbiome. The results revealed that the body length (23.15 ±
