Intention to vaccinate children against measles: findings from a national survey in the United States.

BACKGROUND: The United States is currently experiencing the largest surge of measles cases since 2000, with over 2855 cases reported across the country since January 2025. Though the measles, mumps, and rubella (MMR) vaccine is recognized as the most effective protection against measles, rates of MMR coverage among children under the age of five have declined in several US states. Across the US, attitudes towards measles and intention to vaccinate are not well understood. METHODS: We conducted a nationally representative survey assessing measles knowledge, attitudes, and intention to vaccinat

Increased amygdala and insula activation during emotion processing in anxiety-prone subjects.

OBJECTIVE: Increased amygdala reactivity during processing of certain types of emotional stimuli (e.g., fear, anger) has been observed in patients with anxiety disorders such as social phobia and posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD). It is uncertain whether this heightened amygdala reactivity is specific to treatment-seeking patients with anxiety disorders or is a general feature of individuals with increased anxiety-related temperamental traits. METHOD: Thirty-two physically healthy subjects 18-21 years old were recruited from a large pool of college students. Of these, 16 were chosen on the

Does THA Improve Social Status Among Turkish Women With Developmental Dysplasia of the Hip?

BACKGROUND: In traditional societies, patients who reach adulthood with developmental dysplasia of the hip (DDH) may be labeled "disabled" and may be considered "defective," causing them psychologic pain and problems with social interactions. In some patriarchal societies, women disproportionately experience these problems, because they may be seen as insufficient in terms of marriage and sexual intercourse owing to hip-related limitations, and they may be married through arranged marriages to people who also have disabilities. This patriarchal structure limits the ways women can engage in soc

Bioecological correlates of learning outcomes: testing the moderating role of obesity in academic performance.

INTRODUCTION: This study examined the moderating role of obesity in adolescent academic performance using the Bioecological Model of Human Development as the theoretical framework. METHODS: Data from 2,127 adolescent students in the PISA 2022 dataset were analyzed using multi-group path analysis. RESULTS: Sixteen of the seventeen associations examined were of comparable magnitude in the two groups, and the joint test of all seventeen provided no evidence of moderation. Contrary to expectations, body image was negatively associated with achievement in both groups, meaning that adolescents mor

Understanding older adults' perception, acceptance, and adoption of smart home technologies.

Smart home technologies have increased in popularity and affordability in recent years, however, there is limited research on their adoption specifically among older adults. This study aims to uncover incentives and barriers to the adoption of smart home components, given the impact of COVID-19 on older adults' quality of life (QoL). For this purpose, online audio-recorded interviews were conducted with 21 participants aged between 65 and 90 years from the UK, Malta, and Pakistan. Participants were shown various smart home technology images and videos and asked for their perception, existing k

From Generation to Detection: A Multimodal LLM-Based Framework for Realistic Vishing Attacks in Turkish.

This study proposes a multimodal and AI-supported approach for both generation and detection of vishing threats, also known as audio social engineering attacks. By considering text and audio modalities together, fake contents specific to Turkish language were generated with GPT-2 and Tacotron-2 models; detection processes were carried out with discriminator structures such as BERT, CNN, LSTM, and Whisper. The developed system was designed with an integrated analysis (multimodal fusion) approach at feature and decision levels and was evaluated at both technical and psychosocial levels. In user

Antisemitism as a Chronic Cardiometabolic, Endocrine, and Glutamatergic Stressor Requiring Psychometric Monitoring.

We are seeing an exploding expansion of antisemitic attacks worldwide, raising concerns about their potential impact on biological stress regulation and health. Antisemitism is a historically persistent and structurally embedded form of social exclusion that may contribute to chronic psychosocial stress exposure. Building on research into intergenerational trauma, including neuroendocrine alterations in Holocaust survivors and their descendants, this commentary integrates psychometric, empirical, and conceptual approaches to propose a biologically grounded framework linking antisemitism to end

Loneliness and cognitive aging: a brain-heart axis perspective on a modifiable risk.

Loneliness, the subjective perception of inadequate social connection, is increasingly recognized as a significant and modifiable determinant of health with implications extending beyond psychosocial well-being to cardiovascular and cognitive outcomes. A growing body of evidence links loneliness to increased risk of cardiovascular disease, cognitive decline, and dementia; however, these domains have often been studied in parallel. This review advances a brain-heart axis framework to integrate these literature, conceptualizing loneliness as a chronic psychosocial stressor that contributes to co

Mental load in women and mothers: Causes of distress, personality traits, and psychopathology.

Mental load has received increasing public attention, particularly following societal changes such as the COVID-19 pandemic and shifts toward greater gender equality. However, despite its societal relevance, it remains comparatively under-researched. Following a literature review on mental load, two cross-sectional online survey studies systematically examined the burden of invisible (mental load) versus visible household and caregiving work, the causes of this burden, and associations with personality traits and psychological symptoms (affect, anxiety, depressiveness). Participants were recru

Ten years on, still out of reach: barriers to PrEP access and retention in France according to frontline actors (QualiPrEP Study).

Pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) for HIV has been available in France since 2014, and reimbursed since 2016, with general practitioners allowed to prescribe it since 2021. Despite these policy advances, uptake remains low among some of the most affected populations. This community-based qualitative study explored barriers to PrEP access and retention ten years into its implementation.Interviews were conducted with 28 PrEP frontline actors (healthcare professionals and community-based workers involved in promoting, prescribing, or supporting PrEP). The sample included one group discussion (n = 5
