STUDY DESIGN: Systematic review and meta-analysis.
OBJECTIVE: The purpose of this study is to examine the cost of CLP versus CF stratified by approach to guide decision-making.
SUMMARY OF BACKGROUND DATA: Cervical laminoplasty (CLP) and cervical fusion (CF) are viable alternatives for surgical management of cervical spine myelopathy, with no clear consensus on clinical superiority. However, despite clinical equivalence in patient outcomes, there is limited data on the relative costs between CLP and CF.
METHODS: This study searched PubMed, CINAHL, MEDLINE, and Web of Science databases. Inclu

OBJECTIVE: To analyze the characteristics of "severe" dynamic sagittal imbalance (DSI) in patients with adult spinal deformity (ASD) and establish criteria for them.
METHODS: We retrospectively analyzed 102 patients with ASD presenting four cardinal signs of lumbar degenerative kyphosis. All patients underwent deformity corrective surgery and were divided into three groups according to the diagnostic criteria based on the Oswestry disability index and dynamic features (△Timewalk: time until C7 sagittal vertical axis [C7SVA] reaches ≥ 20 cm after the start of walking) of sagittal imbalance. STUDY DESIGN: A retrospective cohort study.
OBJECTIVE: To determine if there is a difference in reoperation rates for symptomatic adjacent segment disease (operative ASD) and symptomatic nonunions (operative nonunions) in posterior cervical fusions (PCFs) stopping at C7 using either lateral mass screws (LMS) or cervical pedicle screws (CPS) at C7.
SUMMARY OF BACKGROUND DATA: Stopping PCFs at C7 has been controversial because of the risks of adjacent segment disease or nonunions. The two commonly used fixation techniques at the C7 level are LMS and CPS.
MATERIALS AND METHODS: A retrospective

BACKGROUND: Regarding the increasing adoption of oblique lateral interbody fusion (OLIF) for treating degenerative lumbar disorders, we aimed to evaluate whether OLIF, one of the options for anterolateral approach lumbar interbody fusion, demonstrate clinical superiority over anterior lumbar interbody fusion (ALIF) or posterior approach, represented by transforaminal lumbar interbody fusion (TLIF).
METHODS: Patients who received ALIF, OLIF, and TLIF for symptomatic degenerative lumbar disorders during the period 2017-2019 were identified. Radiographic, perioperative, and clinical outcomes wer

CASE: A 68-year-old woman underwent an anterior cervical discectomy and fusion for cervical radiculopathy and subsequently developed a severe contact hypersensitivity reaction in response to Dermabond Prineo, beginning 10 days postoperatively. The Dermabond Prineo mesh was removed, and the patient was treated symptomatically with diphenhydramine, systemic steroids, and oral antibiotics, with complete resolution of her symptoms.
CONCLUSION: This is the first reported contact hypersensitivity reaction to Dermabond Prineo in the context of spine surgery. Surgeons should be able to recognize this

OBJECTIVE: Lumbar interbody fusion (LIF) techniques have seen impressive innovation in recent years, leading to an expansion of the LIF lexicon. This study systematically analyzes LIF nomenclature in contemporary literature and proposes a standardized classification system for reporting LIF terminology.
METHODS: A search query was conducted through the PubMed database using "lumbar fusion OR lumbar interbody fusion." A total of 1455 articles were identified, and 605 references to LIF were recorded. Following a systematic review of the terminology, we developed a LIF reporting guidelines that

Growing rod (GR) instrumentation and the elongation, derotation, and flexion (EDF) casting technique are 2 alternatives for the treatment of early-onset scoliosis. Our purpose was to investigate the cost of these treatment options. This was a retrospective cohort study of patients with early-onset scoliosis treated at 2 institutions from 2007 to 2014 with either GR instrumentation or EDF casting. Patients with <2 years of follow-up were excluded. Physician and hospital charges and collections, total procedures, and procedure times until final follow-up or time of fusion were compared. Despite the undeniable advantages of image-guided surgical assistance systems in terms of accuracy, such systems have not yet fully met surgeons' needs or expectations regarding usability, time efficiency, and their integration into the surgical workflow. On the other hand, perceptual studies have shown that presenting independent but causally correlated information via multimodal feedback involving different sensory modalities can improve task performance. This article investigates an alternative method for computer-assisted surgical navigation, introduces a novel four-DOF sonification method

BACKGROUND CONTEXT: Surgery to correct adult spinal deformity (ASD) is performed by both neurological surgeons and orthopedic surgeons. Despite well-documented high costs and complication rates following ASD surgery, there is a dearth of research investigating trends in treatment according to surgeon subspeciality.
PURPOSE: The purpose of this investigation was to perform an analysis of surgical trends, costs and complications of ASD operations by physician specialty using a large, nationwide sample.
STUDY DESIGN/SETTING: Retrospective cohort study using an administrative claims database.

STUDY DESIGN: A retrospective cohort study using the 2010-2020 MSpine PearlDiver administrative data set.
OBJECTIVE: To compare perioperative adverse events and five-year revisions for single-level anterior cervical discectomy and fusion (ACDF) versus posterior cervical foraminotomy (PCF).
SUMMARY OF BACKGROUND DATA: Cervical disk disease can often be treated surgically using single-level ACDF or PCF. Prior studies have suggested that posterior approaches provide similar short-term outcomes as ACDF; however, posterior procedures may have an increased risk of revision surgery.

STUDY DESIGN: Operative video and supplemental manuscript.
OBJECTIVE: To present a novel step-by-step approach to performing a lumbar pedicle subtraction osteotomy (PSO) using laterally based satellite rods.
SUMMARY OF BACKGROUND DATA: Multi-rod constructs have demonstrated paramount for decreasing rates of pseudarthrosis after PSOs. Multi-rods constructs can be achieved using either "satellite" rods (rods not connected to the primary rods) and/or "accessory rods" (rods connected to the primary rods).
METHODS: A step-by-step approach to performing a lumbar PSO using a laterally based satell

INTRODUCTION: AIS type 1 Curves are sub-classified based on the tilt of L4 as 1AR and 1AL. These curves are different w.r.t their curve behavior, progression and level selection. Presently there is no known anatomic etiology for the different behavior. Facet tropism (FT) is defined as the asymmetry between the facet angle of the left and right facet joints. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the correlation between facet tropism in the lumbar segments and occurrence of type 1AR and 1AL curves in AIS patients.
METHODS: AIS patients with diagnosis of type 1 AR and 1AL right thoracic AIS
