Parasitic myomas are fibromyomas without anatomical relation to the uterus. It is a rare condition mostly described after laparoscopic fibroid morcellation. This is a case report of a patient with a symptomatic abdominal mass eight years after total abdominal hysterectomy. A parasitic myoma was found in relation to coecum and removed laparoscopically. The condition should be considered in symptomatic women with previous fibroid surgery.

Unicornuate uterus with a rudimentary horn is a rare congenital Müllerian anomaly, which may lead to many obstetrical and gynaecological complications. This pathology occurs in approximately 1/100 000 women. A rudimentary horn forms due to insufficient development of the Müllerian duct. The diagnosis of this anomaly is usually delayed, as it remains asymptomatic until adolescence and its main symptom is dysmenorrhea.

Leiomyoma is a benign smooth muscle tumor usually encountered in the uterus. Primary pulmonary localization is extremely rare in adults and children. However, it must be included in the differential diagnosis of any nodular lung lesion. Its treatment is surgical, with good long-term results. Here, we report a case of leiomyoma of lung parenchyma diagnosed in a 26-year-old man.

Uterine scar endometriosis is an extremely rare entitiy. As the surgical procedures of the uterus increases through time, scar endometriosis may be diagnosed more often in the future. A case of uterine scar endometriosis is presented with complaints of menstruation lasting one day with associated pelvic pain. When a cystic mass in the site of previous surgery is diagnosed, scar endometriosis must be considered.

Uterine arteriovenous malformation (AVM), an extremely rare condition, is defined as an abnormal connection between artery and vein. Although the pelvis is a common site for AVM, the uterus is involved occasionally and the true incidence is unknown. The objective of this study was to discuss diagnostic features and management options of AVMs. In this paper six cases of AVMs have been reported with a review of diagnosis and management options.

Round ligament varicosities associated with uterine varicosities are rare during pregnancy. We report the case of a pregnant woman with a painful mass in her left groin at 32 weeks' gestation. Ultrasound revealed multiple distended veins within the left round ligament and over the uterus. The patient was treated by close observation and had a vaginal delivery of a healthy baby.

The uterine rupture is a catastrophic obstetric complication. The main risk factor is an antecedent of uterine surgery, usually caesarean. It is reported the case of a 39-years-old patient with 37 week-pregnancy and polyhydramnios, without surgical antecedents, whose was not in labor and developed complete rupture of the lateral face of the uterus, which was spontaneous, without previous uterine scar and with a unusual outcome.

Aspergillus terreus was isolated from the organs of a German Shepherd pup removed from the bitch by cesarean intervention. In the following days, the bitch developed signs of canine disseminated aspergillosis and was euthanized. The fungus was isolated from a necrotic lesion in the uterus and other organs. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first report of the transuterine transmission of A. terreus during a case of canine disseminated aspergillosis.

Cervical pregnancy (CP) is an uncommon ectopic pregnancy that accounts for approximately less than 1% of extrauterine gestations. This case report describes a case of a viable ectopic CP successfully treated with systemic methotrexate therapy combined with hysteroscopic local endocervical resection of the heterotopic gestational sac. This approach, if validated, could be considered the treatment of choice to preserve the uterus in these young patients.

Rokitansky-Kuster-Hauser syndrome, also called utero-vaginal aplasia, was first described at the beginning of the 19th century by Mayer (1829). It affects 1.2 % of girls and consists of a complete absence of the vagina with severe developmental anomalies of the uterus. Most often it consists of rudimentary cornua uteri, a normal female karyotype 46 XX and secondary female sexual characteristics.

Vibrio vulnificus is a Gram-negative bacterium that causes an aggressive infection with high mortality, especially in patients with liver disease. Wound infections due to V. vulnificus occur via direct contamination of cutaneous tissues and can include the uterus. We report a case of V. vulnificus tubo-ovarian infection from an unusual method of acquisition in the Gulf of Mexico.

Hydrometrocolpos is cHaracterized by a vaginal obstruction with cystic dilatation of uterus and vagina caused by accumulation of cervical and endometrial mucus. A case of androgen-secreting borderline endometrioid tumor arising in endometriosis of the rectovaginal septum is presented. It occurred 10 years after total abdominal hysterectomy and bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy for extensive endometriosis of the fallopian tubes and ovaries, adenomyosis, and leiomyomas of the uterus. We believe 7 years of unopposed continuous oral estrogen replacement therapy contributed to the malignant transformation of the endometriosis.

At the Nepean Hospital transabdominal ultrasound has been used to assist the hysteroscopic surgeon when performing complicated transcervical operations. The 2 main areas of use appear to be either to direct the surgeon within the uterus to the site of pathology or to prevent inadvertent perforation of the uterine wall. The cases vary from haematometra following endometrial ablation to Asherman syndrome and subseptate uteri.

We report on a malignant pelvic tumour in a 69-year old woman, whose uterus and adnexa had been removed 22 years ago because of endometriosis. Clinical and pathological findings pointed to an ovarian cancer in an ovarian remnant syndrome. In a case of a carcinoma, it is difficult to furnish proof of an ovarian remnant syndrome. Differential diagnoses, especially the ureteral adenocarcinoma, are discussed.

An unusual case of angiotrophic lymphoma diagnosed initially in the uterus is described. Immunohistochemical studies documented the intravascular tumor cells in the myometrium to be of B lymphocytic origin. The patient's bone marrow was hypercellular, and cytogenetic studies of the aspirate revealed a subpopulation of cells with multiple clonal chromosomal abnormalities. To our knowledge, this is the first case to document abnormal cytogenetic findings in this uncommon malignancy.

Placenta acreta is a rare complication of pregnancy characterized by abnormal placental adherence. In its extreme form, percreta, rupture of the uterus, and profound hemorrhage may occur. Aggressive resuscitation and early surgery provide the most favorable outcome. Conservative management plays an important role in individual cases where fertility must be preserved or the operative time needs to be reduced to a minimum.

The unusual association of pre-eclampsia with a pregnancy in the rudimentary horn of the uterus in a multigravid patient is reported. The infrequent development of rudimentary horn pregnancy beyond the twentieth week of gestation may explain the rarity of this complication. The possible effect of rapid distension of the rudimentary horn with exposure of the myometrial surface to overwhelming fetal antigenic proteins may be of relevance in the development of pre-eclampsia in this case.

The authors report a case of ovarian hyperstimulation leading to 6 endo-uterine pregnancies and one extra-uterine pregnancy. After embryonic reduction, and salpingectomy, a twin pregnancy was carried through, in a bifid uterus. Review of the literature enables to emphasize the difficulties in diagnosing heterotopic pregnancies, and to discuss the indications and techniques of selective embryonic reduction, along with the ethical and legal problems it raises.

A 73-year-old man with a cavernous haemangioma of the right breast is presented. The patient had had gynaecomastia of the left breast 8 years earlier. Prior to that he had been on cimetidine for 2 years. The patient's mother and sister had breast carcinomas, while two other sisters and a brother had carcinomas of kidney, uterus and lung respectively.
