OBJECTIVE: To investigate if cartilage conduction (CC) rerouting devices are noninferior to air-conduction (AC) rerouting devices for single-sided deafness (SSD) patients by measuring objective and subjective performance using speech-in-noise tests that resemble a realistic hearing environment, sound localization tests, and standardized questionnaires.
STUDY DESIGN: Prospective, single-subject randomized, crossover study.
SETTING: Anechoic room inside a university.
PATIENTS: Nine adults between 21 and 58 years of age with severe or profound unilateral sensorineural hearing loss.

The most frequent complications of osseointegrated implantation include implant-site infections, soft tissue overgrowth and failure of osseointegration. PURPOSE: Techniques for Baha® implantation continue to evolve. The Weber technique, utilizing a 1.5 cm horizontal incision for Baha® implantation is evaluated.
METHODS: Retrospective review of patients undergoing Baha® implantation by a single surgeon over three years.

A 14-year old white male presented with a 2-year history of bilateral otorrhea. Purulent otorrhea with very stenotic external auditory canals (EAC) were found, and the patient was treated with topical otic solutions. The most common serious consequences of trauma to the temporal bone are hearing loss and facial nerve paralysis. In order to prevent these sequelae, radiologic evaluation is often necessary. Methods for measuring masking level differences (MLDs) at 500 Hz and for spondees were used with 290 subjects: 50 persons with normal hearing and 240 patients with various diseases. This study involved a five-year review of 94 patients with chronic otitis media with cholesteatoma. In total, 110 surgical procedures were carried out. The study comprised 96 cases; surgery that was a revision of previous surgery were excluded. The extent of cholesteatoma and its associated bone destruction were observed and recorded. Of the 96 cases, 14.6% were classified as Grade I, 13.5% as Grade II, 31.3% as Grade III and 40.6% as Grade IV.
