We report a case involving a 65-year-old woman with skin invasion and destruction by left large breast cancer(T4cN0M0, Stage ⅢB). She had severe anemia with recurrent bleeding on the cancer surface and needed blood transfusion, and massive malodorous effusion from the skin lesion resulted in hypoalbuminemia and recurrent bacteremia. The factors associated with the progression of ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS) to invasive breast cancer are poorly understood. Many studies of this subject focus on the role of molecular and genetic alterations in the neoplastic epithelial cells. However, emerging evidence suggests that transition from DCIS to invasive cancer is strongly dependent upon alterations in the microenvironment. The potential roles of myoepithelial cells and of stromal-epithelial interaction are of particular interest in this regard.

Fallopian tube cancer is very rare, it accounts less than 1% of all genital tract cancer in women. The annual incidence is 3.6 per million women per year. The vast majority of fallopian tube cancers are papillary serous adenocarcinomas. Most women with fallopian tube cancer are usually diagnosed at age 50s to 60s. Vaginal bleeding or discharge is the most common presentation. We would like to present a case in which fallopian tube cancer was diagnosed in a patient with post menopausal bleeding, abnormal ultrasound finding and history of estrogen receptor (ER) positive breast cancer.

The incidence of rhinopharyngeal carcinoma is fewer than one person per 100,000 population but it is one of the most common types of cancer in Southern China. The mechanisms often implicated suggest an important role of genetic, ethnic and environmental factors. Lung metastases are the most frequent, accounting for 66% of distant metastases. Other metastatic sites include bone (22%) and liver (10%). We report a case with breast skin and axillary nodes involvement.

Malignancy and chronic inflammatory diseases seem to be associated to one another. Sentinel lymph node (SLN) biopsy has replaced routine axillary lymph node dissection (ALND) for most breast cancer patients with clinically normal lymph nodes. The morbidity (lymphedema, arm numbness) of SLN biopsy is significantly less than ALND. The use of alternative injection sites (skin or subareolar) yields high SLN identification rates and may shorten the learning curve associated with standard peritumoral injection. The dual-agent (radiocolloid plus blue dye) technique is recommended to decrease false-negative rates, especially when surgeons are just learning how to perform SLN biopsy.

OBJECTIVE: This study investigated the use of ultrasound (US) as a first-line diagnostic tool.
METHODS: All women attending our breast center underwent bilateral whole-breast US in addition to all other investigations, and results were documented prospectively and preoperatively.
