Gaps in Community-Based Screening for Non-Communicable Diseases in Saudi Arabia.

BACKGROUND: Non-communicable diseases (NCDs) such as cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, obesity, and cancer are the leading cause of mortality globally and in Saudi Arabia, accounting for more than 70% of all deaths. Despite national initiatives offering free preventive services, screening uptake remains low. This study aimed to describe the demographic and clinical characteristics of individuals participating in community-based NCD screening campaigns in the Eastern Province of Saudi Arabia and to evaluate screening uptake, compliance, and diagnostic outcomes. METHODS: A retrospective cross-

COVID-19 vaccination and birth outcomes of 186,990 women vaccinated before pregnancy: an England-wide cohort study.

BACKGROUND: COVID-19 vaccination in pregnancy is recommended by the World Health Organisation as effective and safe. However, there remains a lack of robust evidence to inform vaccination choices for women of childbearing potential in relation to their future pregnancies. Here we investigated the association between starting a course of COVID-19 vaccination before pregnancy and birth outcomes. METHODS: We analysed England-wide linked electronic health records for all pregnancies reaching at least 24 weeks gestation between 25th May 2021 and 28th October 2022. We estimated incidence rates and

Utilisation of the support workforce in diagnostic imaging: a mixed-methods investigation.

BACKGROUND: Demand for imaging in England massively outstrips supply in terms of workforce capacity, with well-documented shortages of both radiographers and radiologists. The COVID-19 pandemic exacerbated already stretched services, which have remained 'in crisis'. Three high profile national reports highlighted the urgent need to develop the capacity and capability of the imaging support workforce, yet it is unclear how this vital workforce is utilised. AIM: To investigate the development, deployment and contribution of the support workforce to diagnostic imaging activity across England to

Using electronic medical records to identify patients at risk for underlying cardiac amyloidosis.

BACKGROUND: Identification of transthyretin cardiac amyloidosis (ATTR-CA) patients is largely based on pattern recognition by providers, and this can be automated through electronic medical systems (EMR). METHODS: All patients in a large academic hospital with age > 60, ICD-10 code for chronic diastolic heart failure and no previous diagnosis of any amyloidosis were included. An Epic EMR scoring logic assigned risk scores to patients for ICD-10 and CPT codes associated with ATTR-CA, as follows: carpal tunnel syndrome (score 5), aortic stenosis/TAVR (5), neuropathy (4), bundle branch block (4)

The Military Injuries: Understanding Post-Traumatic Epilepsy Study: Understanding Relationships among Lifetime Traumatic Brain Injury History, Epilepsy, and Quality of Life.

Understanding risk for epilepsy among persons who sustain a mild (mTBI) traumatic brain injury (TBI) is crucial for effective intervention and prevention. However, mTBI is frequently undocumented or poorly documented in health records. Further, health records are non-continuous, such as when persons move through health systems (e.g., from Department of Defense to Veterans Affairs [VA] or between jobs in the civilian sector), making population-based assessments of this relationship challenging. Here, we introduce the MINUTE (Military INjuries-Understanding post-Traumatic Epilepsy) study, which
