An 84-year-old woman with a past medical history significant for haemolytic anaemia necessitating chronic steroid therapy presented with skin induration and erythema initially thought to be cellulitis. After a rapid progression of symptoms and failure to respond to antibiotics, a clinical diagnosis of necrotising vasculitis was made. Necrotising cryptococcal vasculitis was confirmed by histopathology and culture.

Rosacea fulminans is a rare condition with a female preponderance and unknown aetiology, characterized by the abrupt onset of papules, pustules and erythema affecting the face. Corticosteroids and isotretinoin are regarded as the two main therapeutic agents. We report a case associated with pregnancy, and discuss the therapeutic implications. This is the first published report of rosacea fulminans in pregnancy complicated by stillbirth.

We report four cases of acute idiopathic scrotal oedema, an underreported cause of acute painless or moderately painfull swelling and erythema of the scrotum in young boys. It is a self-limiting disease and to prevent unnecessary surgical exploration or antibiotic therapy, it is very important to distinguish acute idiopathic scrotal oedema from more serious diseases.

In case of a combination of hypersalivation and mucosal disease that rapidly progresses towards becoming indisposed, one has to consider an underlying general disease. In this paper a patient with these complaints, who visited the emergency department of the Groningen University Hospital, is described. The patient appeared to be suffering from a specific form of erythema multiforma, viz. the syndrome of Stevens-Johnson.

Melasma of the forearms seems to be a relatively common sign which is, to our knowledge, not reported in the literature. It seems that it may be more common in older patients and especially in postmenopausal women on supplementary oestrogen. The pigmentary change is macular and may be confluent or speckled. Like facial chloasma there is a sharp line of demarcation at the margins. In some, there seems to be an element of erythema.

Seroconversion was demonstrated in dogs artificially infected with a Zimbabwean strain of Rickettsia conorii. No haematological or biochemical abnormalities were found and the only clinical signs observed were pain, erythema and oedema at the inoculation site and regional lymphadenopathy. Intermittent rickettsaemia was detected using the centrifugation shell vial technique up to 10 days post inoculation.

The case of a patient with thoracic abdominal and left arm, migratory erythema-edematous plates over a space of three years is described. The histopathologic features reveal a eosinophilic panniculitis due to probable larva migrans (gnathostomiasis). This appears to be the first report on the subject because we have not found any reference to the subject in Argentina bibliographic search.

A case of fixed cutaneous sporotrichosis in an urban patient in whom the contagious trauma could not be proved is commented on. Remarkable is the location of the lesions involving the face, which is extremely rare, as well as the morphology of the lesions, adopting the pattern of congestive erythema on which there were crusty-erythematous papules causing an intense itching which also preceded their onset.

In addition to the genetic conditions reviewed in Part I of this article, sclerosteosis, spondyloepimetaphyseal dysplasia, lipoid proteinosis, keratolytic winter erythema and various haematological disorders also occur in high frequency in the Afrikaner community. The recognition of the presence of these serious inherited disorders is important in differential diagnosis and is fundamental to the establishment of public health programmes for amelioration and prevention.

Of the many acknowledged systemic complications of inflammatory bowel disease, arthritis, iritis and erythema nodosum are observed most commonly and considered parts of the natural history. Pyoderma gangrenosum is a more ominous, less common but similarly associated complication that classically occurs in the course of ulcerative colitis. Its rarity in Crohn's disease stimulated the following report.

Mohamad et al. (2020) describe loss-of-function mutations in SERPINA12 as a cause of diffuse, transgradient palmoplantar keratoderma (PPK). This disorder shares similar clinical features with other PPKs caused by protease overactivity, including erythema, peeling, and exacerbation on water exposure. Understanding this disorder may shed further light on the role of proteases and their inhibitors in epidermal physiology.

Iodixanol is a non-ionic contrast medium for general vascular use. The most common adverse effects from iodixanol include skin rashes, hives, erythema, itching, and angioedema. To date, there have been no reports of delayed genital blisters of iodixanol. In this report, we describe a patient in whom iodixanol induced delayed genital blisters one day after digital subtraction angiography.

Bleomycin toxicity predominantly affects the skin and lungs. Cutaneous toxicity classically known to present with bleomycin are flagellate erythema and drug rash. We hereby report an isolated case of (bleomyicn)-induced acquired partial (lipodytrophy) having potential cosmetic implications in a young women prescribed postoperatively following a case of germ cell carcinoma of ovary (endodermal sinus tumor).

Cutaneous flushing and facial erythema are common dermatologic conditions that elicit a wide differential diagnosis that includes rosacea, seborrheic dermatitis, photodermatitis, connective-tissue diseases, carcinoid syndrome, and mastocytosis. Herein we present an usual case of a mask-like rosacea-PIPA overlap that occurred in a patient with prior history of rectal carcinoid tumor and a negative systemic evaluation.

Scolopendra subspinipes is the only clinically significant centipede found in Hawai'i. Envenomation typically leads to extreme localized pain, erythema, induration, and tissue necrosis and possible lymphedema or lymphangitis. Mortality is uncommon and results from secondary infection or anaphylaxis. Management is supportive and includes wound care, pain control, and treatment with topical or oral antihistamines and anti-inflammatory medications.

Subacute cutaneous lupus erythematosus (SCLE) is a type of lupus erythematosus having distinct characteristic clinical, serologic, and genetic features. Other than the commonly occurring papulosquamous and annular polycyclic lesion, rarely it may present as erythema multiformae, toxic epidermo necrolysis like lesion (Rowell syndrome), erythroderma, and generalized poikiloderma. Herein, we report a case of SCLE presenting as erythroderma.

Three patients with nonpulmonary sarcoidosis had chronic erythema nodosum within the first 2 years of life. Each subsequently had renal sarcoidosis and nephrocalcinosis; hypercalcemia was documented in each patient and hypercalciuria in two patients. Treatment with prednisone was not uniformly successful in normalizing creatinine clearance. Nephrocalcinosis may be more common than previously reported in patients with sarcoidosis.

Systemic bacterial infections often produce skin signs which are of help in the elucidation and evaluation of these diseases. This paper reviews some of such cutaneous clues, their occurrence, recognition and value. The following conditions are discussed: bacterial endocarditis, pseudomonas septicaemia, disseminated gonococcal infection, meningococcemia, clostridia infections, leptospirosis and typhoid fever. Bacterial causes of erythema nodosum are also considered.

Sequential renal functions have been studied in eight patients of lepromatous leprosy during and after subsidence of erythema nodosum leprosum. The renal functions which were impaired during reaction were observed to improve during quiescent phase unless there were associated complications like amyloidosis. The possible mechanisms for altered renal functions during reactive phase of the disease have been discussed.

Several formamidine and acetamidine derivatives prepared from 3-amino-1,2,4-benzotriazine and 3-amino-1,2,4-benzotriazine-1-oxide displayed an aspirin-like anti-inflammatory and analgesic profile. The test systems include adjuvant-induced arthritis in rats, carrageenan-induced edema in rats, UV-induced erythema in guinea pigs, the analgesic gait test, the antipyretic test, and GI ulcer studies.
