PURPOSE: To assess the effectiveness of voice disorder prevention programs and to verify the effectiveness of direct and indirect voice training on the Voice Handicap Index (VHI), Voice-Related Quality of Life (V-RQOL), maximum phonation time (MPT), fundamental frequency and shimmer, for the prevention of voice disorders in regular-school teachers.
METHODS: This is a literature review with meta-analysis, carried out through an electronic search in PubMed, Cochrane Central, Embase, Web of Science, Scopus and BVS, and Google Scholar, as well as ClinicalTrials.gov databases for gray literature.

BACKGROUND: The aim of this study was to measure ultraviolet radiation (UVR) exposures of lifeguards in pool settings and evaluate their personal UVR protective practices.

Numerous publications suggest that shift work is responsible for some gastrointestinal disturbances (heartburn, dyspepsia, loss of appetite, stomach pain). The semen quality of 57 workers from a welding plant in South India and 57 controls was monitored. Blood nickel and chromium concentrations were determined by ICP-MS. Analysis of semen samples was performed in accordance with World Health Organization criteria. BACKGROUND: Commercial fishing in Alaska accounts for an occupational fatality rate that is 28 times the rate for all U.S. workers. Most deaths are attributed to vessel sinking or capsizing. However, many deaths and most non-fatal injuries are not related to vessel loss. This paper describes injuries that occur on the dock or on the fishing vessel.
