OBJECTIVE: Weaning-induced cardiogenic pulmonary oedema is a cause of weaning failure that is classically diagnosed by an increase in pulmonary artery occlusion pressure during a spontaneous breathing trial. During cardiogenic pulmonary oedema, a hypo-oncotic fluid is filtered toward the interstitial space.
