Altered functional connectivity density in the prefrontal-limbic-visual networks of vestibular migraine.

This study aimed to explore abnormal patterns of functional connectivity density (FCD) and functional connectivity (FC) in patients with vestibular migraine (VM) and their associations with clinical symptoms. Resting-state functional magnetic resonance imaging (rs-fMRI) data from 49 VM patients and 61 healthy controls (HCs) were analyzed using Global FCD (GFCD), long-range FCD (LRFCD), and seed-based FC. Compared with HCs, VM patients demonstrated decreased GFCD and LRFCD in the bilateral medial prefrontal cortex (mPFC), along with increased GFCD in the right lingual gyrus (LING), right middle

Integrating gray-white matter contrast and functional connectivity to characterize impulsivity-related brain alterations.

Impulsivity, a personality trait characterized by premature action without adequate consideration, serves as an essential diagnostic feature for multiple psychological disorders. Previous neuroimaging research has linked this trait to alterations in brain gray matter in the prefrontal, temporal, and parietal cortices. However, the role of myelination in relation to impulsivity remains poorly understood. Resting-state functional and structural magnetic resonance imaging data from 179 participants were divided into two groups based on high and low Barratt Impulsiveness Scale (BIS) scores. Indivi

Two-stage, triple-pass 5-mJ-level Fe:ZnSe chirped-pulse amplifier with a KTA-based OPA frontend and flashlamp-pumped erbium lasers.

The development of Fe:ZnSe-based mid-infrared laser amplification as an alternative to optical parametric chirped-pulse amplification has become increasingly important in high-intensity laser science, especially for high-harmonic generation toward higher photon energies. Here, we demonstrate a Fe:ZnSe chirped-pulse amplification architecture that combines a KTiOAsO4-based optical parametric amplifier (OPA) frontend providing 29-μJ, 4-μm seed pulses, flashlamp-pumped erbium lasers as high-pulse-energy 3-μm-class pump sources, and cladding-assisted suppression of transverse parasitic oscillation

Methodological Framework to Evaluate Entomopathogenic Fungi and Rhizobial Co-Inoculation Effects on Plant Growth and Root Morphology.

Entomopathogenic fungi are increasingly recognized as multifunctional bioinputs, but robust methodological approaches are needed to evaluate their compatibility with established microbial inoculants and their effects on plant performance. Our study proposes an integrative framework to assess Metarhizium-Bradyrhizobium interactions in soybean (Glycine max), combining laboratory compatibility screening with greenhouse assessment. First, Metarhizium anisopliae LCM S04 and Metarhizium brunneum LCM S11 were tested against Bradyrhizobium diazoefficiens BR 85 (=SEMIA 5080) and Bradyrhizobium japonicu

Melanoma evolution in the lymph node shapes systemic outcomes.

Lymph node (LN) metastasis predicts poor patient outcomes, but the mechanistic drivers that shape metastatic fitness, immune evasion, and clinical impact remain elusive. While preclinical models indicate that active tumor adaptation is necessary for LN metastasis, observations of clonal heterogeneity in human tumors has supported a stochastic model of passive and continuous seeding. Reconciling LN metastasis as a passive or active process is essential to understanding if LN metastasis is simply a marker of disease progression or a clinically informative therapeutic target. Here, we report evid

Nutrient management in calcareous soils under semi-arid environments: effects on cotton productivity and soil health.

In calcareous and alkaline soils, the availability of essential nutrients is limited, leading to substantial reductions in both yield and fiber quality in cotton (Gossypium hirsutum L.) production. This study investigated the effects of different combinations of sulfur (S), zinc sulfate (ZnSO₄), potassium sulfate (K₂SO₄), and urea on cotton yield and soil health in a two-year field experiment conducted under the conditions of the Şanlıurfa–Harran (Türkiye) Plain during the 2023–2024 growing seasons. Six different treatments were applied via soil and foliar application methods, and yield parame

Early morphological and gene/protein expression dynamics of human synovial mesenchymal stem cells during adhesion to a damaged meniscal surface.

Synovial mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) are a potential therapeutic option for meniscal injuries; however, the early cellular events following MSC application remain obscure. This study aimed to characterize the morphological and molecular changes occurring during the first 24 h after application of human synovial MSCs onto a structurally disrupted meniscal surface. MSCs were seeded onto a frozen-thawed, mechanically abraded meniscal surface under non-inflammatory conditions, and MSC morphology and gene/protein expression were evaluated before adhesion and at 1 h and 24 h after seeding. Transcriptional regulation of monolignol O-methylation in Cleome hassleriana.

Catechyl (C) lignin, a linear homopolymer restricted to seed coats of a limited number of plant species, has favorable properties for chemical and biomaterial manufacture. In the seed coat of Cleome hassleriana, lignin composition switches from guaiacyl (G-) lignin to C-lignin during development. This involves loss of expression of caffeoyl-CoA 3-O-methyltransferase (ChCCoAOMT) and caffeic acid 3-O-methyltransferase (ChCOMT), and upregulation of a cinnamyl alcohol dehydrogenase (ChCAD5) and laccase (ChLAC8) with substrate preference for the caffeyl moiety. How the loss of monolignol O-methylat

Understanding the impact of plant-parasitic nematodes on global food security and trade in a changing world.

Plant-parasitic nematodes remain a pervasive yet often hidden constraint on crop productivity, smallholder livelihoods, and market access. This proceedings integrates four vantage points. First, a sub-Saharan African perspective describes how intensification, reliance on informal seed systems, and limited diagnostics allow root-knot nematodes (Meloidogyne spp.) and potato cyst nematodes (PCN) to proliferate in vegetables, tubers, and perennials. Second, a global biogeographic analysis maps soil nematode abundance and trophic structure and demonstrates strong associations with soil organic carb

Piano-Stool Ru (II) Complexes as Modulators of Human Prion Protein PrP106-126 Aggregation.

Prion diseases are neurodegenerative disorders caused by the accumulation of misfolded prion proteins, leading to neurotoxicity and neuronal death. Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease (CJD) in humans and Bovine spongiform encephalopathy (BSE) in animals are among the most prominent prion disorders. Therefore, the search for molecules that can serve as drugs for prion diseases has gained significant attention. In our study, we synthesised and characterised two piano-stool ruthenium complexes, RuBT and RuBI, based on benzazole-quinoline scaffolds. Molecular structures of RuBT and RuBI were determined by X

Age- and sex-related variation in ChatGPT-4o HPV vaccine recommendation style: A fixed-prompt audit.

ChatGPT is increasingly consulted for vaccine information, but demographic variation in recommendation framing is understudied. We audited ChatGPT-4o (1-2 May 2025) using 720 prompt instances from 156 coded seed prompts: one eligibility anchor and 12 misconception-based prompts across six age bands and two sex framings, each with 4-5 lexical variants. Replies were classified as presumptive, strong, shared decision-making, or recommend-against. Bayesian mixed-effects logistic models were fitted at the seed-prompt cluster level, with sex, age band, and their interaction as fixed effects and rand

An optimized mung bean seedling model for characterizing virulence of Pseudomonas aeruginosa biofilm infections.

Plant-based infection models provide cost effective and biologically relevant systems for investigating bacterial pathogenesis and virulence in living hosts. The mung bean seedling model enables the study of bacterial biofilms on living surfaces by allowing attachment and biofilm development on plants, but its broader use has been limited by methodological complexity and variability in experimental outcomes. Here, we present a modified mung bean seedling biofilm infection model for assessing Pseudomonas aeruginosa virulence that improves both consistency and practicality. The assay incorporate

Spatiotemporal Distribution of Ulva Micropropagules in Surface Sediments: Insights from Field Sampling Data in the Southern Yellow Sea (2020-2022).

Green tide disasters have erupted consecutively in the Southern Yellow Sea, yet their driving mechanisms remain debated. The "raft-origin-hypothesis" identifies the source as epiphytic Ulva macroalgae attached to laver aquaculture rafts in the Subei Shoal, whereas the "micropropagule-hypothesis" speculates that Ulva micropropagules settling into open sea sediments constitute a cross-year seed reserve. The latter has hitherto relied primarily on laboratory culture simulations, with field-scale assessment lacking. This study established 46 surface sediment survey stations from 2020 to 2022, cove

Histopathology of Thecaphora frezzii Colonization: A Detailed Analysis of Its Journey Through Peanut (Arachis hypogaea L.) Tissues.

Over the past few decades, peanut smut, caused by Thecaphora frezzii, has evolved from an emerging disease to a major global threat to peanut production. However, critical knowledge gaps persist regarding the anatomical pathways and host responses involved in infection, colonization, and sporulation. This study examines the pathosystem and histopathology of the biotrophic phase of T. frezzii in the susceptible cv. Granoleico. Anatomical analyses were conducted using light microscopy, confocal laser scanning, and scanning electron microscopy. Our findings reveal that T. frezzii enters the host

Abnormal functional connectivity of paracingulate gyrus in patients with temporal lobe epilepsy-comorbid sleep disorders.

Abnormalities in paracingulate gyrus (PCG) were found in both patients with temporal lobe epilepsy and patients with sleep disorders. These abnormalities include reduced functional connectivity between PCG and other brain regions, abnormal activity and reduced volume of PCG. PCG may be associated with comorbid sleep disorders in patients with temporal lobe epilepsy (TLE). This study aimed to explore the relationship between abnormal PCG function and comorbid sleep disorders in patients with TLE. We used Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index -8/9 to divide fifty-eight patients into a group with sleep

In vivo bioengineered tooth formation using decellularized tooth bud extracellular matrix scaffolds.

The use of dental implants to replace lost or damaged teeth has become increasingly widespread due to their reported high survival and success rates. In reality, the long-term survival of dental implants remains a health concern, based on their short-term predicted survival of ~15 years, significant potential for jawbone resorption, and risk of peri-implantitis. The ability to create functional bioengineered teeth, composed of living tissues with properties similar to those of natural teeth, would be a significant improvement over currently used synthetic titanium implants.
