A 48-year-old male had adenocarcinoma of the right upper lung lobe that invaded the lower trachea. The right upper lobe, the carina, and 5 rings of the lower trachea were resected. The carina was reconstructed using end-to-end anastomosis between the trachea and right intermediate bronchus, with the left main bronchus anastomosed to the side wall of the intermediate bronchus. Two months after surgery, the right intermediate bronchus developed bronchomalacia and the tracheal anastomosis granulatory stenosis. This paper describes the anatomy of the neurovascular supply to the mylohyoid and digastric muscle and its potential use for a regional transposition to rehabilitate the paralyzed face and soft-tissue coverage in the head and neck area. Following retinal detachment surgery, exposure of the scleral explant is uncommon and usually requires its removal. In patients with a history of multiple retinal detachment procedures or continuing vitreoretinal traction removal of an explant can lead to retinal redetachment. There have been few recent studies of the descriptive epidemiology of systemic sclerosis, but in recent work the limited form of the disease seems more prominent than reported in previous studies. Percutaneous implantation sites were used by the same operator in 141 patients (87 females and 54 males) with usually metastatic cancer. A titanium Districath implantable chamber and a 1.1 mm inner diameter silicone catheter were used. Percutaneous venous access was via the subclavian vein in 139 cases (98.6%). Mandatory safety measures were emphasized. Insertion was complicated by puncture of the subclavian artery in 6 cases (4.2%). This study investigated changes in voice quality after thyroplasty type I in eight adults with unilateral vocal fold paralysis. Although keratoprosthesis (after Strampelli and Cardona) is successful in selected cases, it remains doubtful whether the apparent problems of these procedures can be solved. The nose has been reconstructed with bone grafts, cartilage, and silicone. Each of these methods has disadvantages, but the bone graft is most trouble free. It is possible to take a split skull graft with a high speed drill and an osteotome. The position of the graft site on the skull determines its shape.
