A novel zinc-beryllium borate BaZnBe2(BO3)2F2 was grown by a high-temperature flux method for the first time. It crystallizes in P3[combining macron] with the cell parameters of a = b = 4.5998, c = 7.7037 and Z = 1, which is different from BaMBe2(BO3)2F2 (M = Mg, Ca). Interestingly, when Zn replaces Mg and Ca in BaMgBe2(BO3)2F2 and BaCaBe2(BO3)2F2, the structure retains the same anionic group but the symmetry is lowered. We report herein the facile synthesis and structural characterization of a highly stable dinuclear Cu(i) complex, [(PPh3)2Cu(μ-tda)Cu(PPh3)2]·6H2O 1 (tda = thiodiacetate anion), in which the Cu-Cu distance is 7.197 Å. This "pre-formed" complex serves as an extremely efficient and recyclable homogeneous catalyst (2 mol%, 30 min) for CuAAC in dichloromethane solvent. The synthesis of a variety of glycoconjugates under ambient conditions is successfully achieved using 1 as a catalyst. Recent advances have uncovered a previously unknown function of vitamin C in epigenetic regulation. Vitamin C exists predominantly as an ascorbate anion under physiological pH conditions. Ascorbate was discovered as a cofactor for methylcytosine dioxygenases that are responsible for DNA demethylation, and also as a likely cofactor for some JmjC domain-containing histone demethylases that catalyze histone demethylation.
