A glycoprotein with a molecular weight of 58,000 specifically expressed in exocrine hamster fetal pancreas was characterized using a monoclonal antibody (Mab B4). By immunoperoxidase, Mab B4 stained pancreatic tissue from the 10th day of gestation (6 days before delivery) until the 10th day after birth. The maximal expression of the Mab B4-specific protein called fetal pancreatic (FP) protein was reached between delivery and the 5th day of postnatal life. Adult Onchocerca volvulus recovered for excised nodules by dissection or treatment with collagenase have been used as a source of RNA for in vitro translation experiments. RNA was purified using either the hot phenol/SDS procedure or the guanidine isothiocyanate protocol. Immunoprecipitation experiments performed on in vitro products demonstrate a marked heterogeneity in responses by individed human infection sera. Further immunoprecipitation experiments demonstrate cross reactivity between O. volvulus and other filarial nematodes.

Crude soluble antigens were evaluated with indirect haemagglutination and ELISA for their specificity in the immunodiagnosis of alveolar and cystic echinococcosis. Using a combination of heterologous crude antigens, the ELISA method made a correct species-specific diagnosis in 96.3% of the patients. These results are similar to those obtained by immunodiagnosis with purified antigens.

Histolyn CYL, the yeast phase reagent, has been employed as the antigen in an enzyme immunoassay (ELISA) to detect antibody to Histoplasma capsulatum in sera from experimentally sensitized rabbits and from humans with histoplasmosis. Lichen planus is a common papulosquamous disorder of skin and mucous membranes of unknown etiology. Studies reported here demonstrate a lichen planus specific antigen (LPSA) in granular and deep prickle epithelial cells from the lichen planus lesion.
