Sarcoidosis is not rare in patients aged more than 65 years, but studies of elderly patients with sarcoidosis are scarce. We analyzed the characteristics and outcomes of patients in a French teaching hospital with late-onset sarcoidosis, defined as sarcoidosis diagnosed in patients aged 65 years or older, and compared them with those of younger patients with sarcoidosis. From 2002 to 2006, 30 patients were identified as having late-onset sarcoidosis and were compared to 70 patients randomly selected aged younger than 65 years. We compared clinical characteristics, laboratory data at diagnosis,

OBJECTIVE: To explore parents experiences following receipt of positive newborn screening for sickle cell disease (SCD) test results at a teaching hospital in Ghana.
METHODS: Using purposive sampling, data were collected using semi-structured individual guides to interview parents of children attending the Paediatric SCD clinic at Korle Bu Teaching Hospital (KBTH), a major referral health facility in Ghana. Questions were categorized into 3 main areas: parents' reactions to initial positive results, parents' responses to in-clinic counselling, and parents' attitudes towards follow-up clinic c

BACKGROUND: Bone-patellar tendon-bone (BPTB) autograft for anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction (ACLR) is strong and has a low failure rate. However, postoperative anterior knee pain remains a concern because of bony defects at the harvest site, which can be reduced with proper bone grafting.
INDICATIONS: BPTB autograft for ACLR is indicated for professional athletes, patients returning to pivoting sports, patients undergoing revision surgery, and patients with hyperlaxity, increased recurvatum, or increased posterior tibial slope. This technique is indicated for all these patients

OBJECTIVE: Diabetic macular edema (DME) with incomplete response to anti-VEGF therapy is a significant challenge. Here, we integrated advanced proteomics and an artificial intelligence (AI)-driven platform to elucidate molecular mechanisms associated with resistance to anti-VEGF treatment.
DESIGN: Translational longitudinal study.
SUBJECTS: Patients with DME (n = 30) under treatment with anti-VEGF therapy who had reached their plateau phase.
METHODS: Aqueous humor samples were obtained at the time of 6 consecutive anti-VEGF injections. OCT scan fluid volumes were assessed by an AI-based pla

DESIGN: A cross-sectional reproducibility and agreement study.
PARTICIPANTS: A total of 316 eyes from 158 genetically confirmed Stargardt patients were analyzed. For intragrader repeatability, 114 FAF images were reassessed in a masked, repeated-measures design.

BACKGROUND: Bucket-handle medial meniscal tears represent a common subset of meniscal injuries, particularly among younger athletes. In cases requiring operative intervention, the inside-out technique for medial meniscal repair remains the gold standard.
INDICATIONS: We present a technique video for the repair of a bucket-handle medial meniscal tear in a young athlete who sustained a meniscal injury while playing soccer, resulting in mechanical symptoms. The tear was noted to remain within the peripheral vascular zone of the meniscus, making him a favorable candidate for operative repair.

BACKGROUND: Gluteus medius/minimus tears are common, especially in older women. These can occur acutely due to trauma or chronically from degeneration. Treatment options vary depending on the extent of the tear. In cases with poor tendon quality or retracted tears, allograft augmentation is a promising surgical option that may enhance repair strength and healing potential.
INDICATIONS: Open gluteus medius/minimus repair with allograft augmentation is indicated for patients with large, chronic tears that are unlikely to heal due to factors such as age, tissue degeneration, or prior failed repa

BACKGROUND: Multifocal cartilage defects about the knee have become increasingly prevalent. When left untreated, these injuries may progress to diffuse knee osteoarthritis. Operative management for patients with multifocal chondral defects typically includes partial or total knee arthroplasty. The senior authors (A.H.G. and S.M.S.) suggest the simultaneous use of osteochondral allograft (OCA) transplantation for patellar chondral defects and the Cartiheal Agili-C implant for trochlear chondral pathology as a viable option for patients with bipolar patellofemoral pathology.
INDICATIONS: Patien

BACKGROUND: Posterior sternoclavicular joint (SCJ) injuries in children are rare and frequently misdiagnosed. Due to the anatomy of the immature medial clavicle, many of these injuries are Salter-Harris type I/II physeal fractures rather than true joint dislocations-termed pseudodislocations. These injuries require careful diagnosis and tailored management to ensure safe and functional outcomes.
INDICATIONS: Surgical intervention is indicated in paediatric SCJ pseudodislocations with significant posterior displacement of the medial clavicular fragment, particularly when the posterior metaphys

BACKGROUND: The superficial medial collateral ligament (sMCL) is the most injured knee ligament, and the most commonly coinjured ligament in anterior cruciate ligament tears. The technique's goal is to be less invasive while maintaining the hamstrings' function.
INDICATIONS: Surgical indications for this technique include isolated grade 3 injuries that fail nonoperative management and multiligament knee injuries that include the MCL.
TECHNIQUE DESCRIPTION: Items needed for the double-bundle reconstruction technique include an anterior tibialis graft > 270 mm, C-Arm for visualization of radio

BACKGROUND: Many overhead athletes, both amateur and professional, experience an increasing number of injuries to the ulnar collateral ligament (UCL) as a result of overuse or trauma. As a result of this increasing frequency, multiple techniques have been developed to reconstruct or repair the UCL with success and faster return to sports (RTS) for athletes who are ideal candidates for a repair. However, a large proportion of UCL tear patients cannot undergo repair due to chronic injury, leading to poor tissue quality, midsubstance tears, or older age, which predispose them to slower healing an

BACKGROUND: Distal medial collateral ligament (MCL) injuries are less common and have worse healing potential than proximal MCL injuries. The purpose of this video is to demonstrate the surgical technique of distal MCL repair with suture augmentation.
INDICATIONS: The patient is a 17-year-old man who sustained a distal MCL injury and medial meniscocapsular junction tear while playing soccer. He was indicated for surgical management due to a complete distal MCL tear with symptomatic instability and concomitant medial meniscocapsular injury.
TECHNIQUE DESCRIPTION: The patient was placed in a s
