Humidity-Tolerant ppb-level NOx Sensors Based on Ag2Te/CeO2 Nanocomposites for Smart Greenhouse Farming.

Monitoring trace levels of nitrogen oxides (NOx) in high-humidity agricultural greenhouse environments is essential for both crop growth and workers' health. However, achieving reliable NOx detection under extreme humidity remains challenging. Herein, this work presents an ultralow-detection-limit and highly humidity-tolerant NOx sensor based on Ag2Te/CeO2 nanocomposites. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first demonstration of Ag2Te/CeO2 heterostructures for gas sensing. Among the as-prepared samples, the optimal Ag2Te/CeO2 sample, with a molar ratio of 1:2, exhibited superior respons

Design of probiotic delivery systems and their therapeutic effects on targeted tissues.

The microbiota at different sites in the body is closely related to disease. The intake of probiotics is an effective strategy to alleviate diseases and be adjuvant in their treatment. However, probiotics may suffer from harsh environments and colonization resistance, making it difficult to maintain a sufficient number of live probiotics to reach the target sites and exert their original probiotic effects. Encapsulation of probiotics is an effective strategy. Therefore, probiotic delivery systems, as effective methods, have been continuously developed and innovated to ensure that probiotics ar

Correction criteria for the qualitative analysis of the prison population: drugs possession/consumption and gender violence.

INTRODUCTION: People with language difficulties cannot face challenges related to social skills. Those language disorders affect academic, work environments, and social interaction, leading to maladaptive and aggressive behaviors. Young inmates are at high risk of experiencing unrecognized language deficiencies. It is, therefore, necessary to analyze linguistic pathologies that can influence criminal behavior (drugs possession/consumption and gender violence crimes). There are many standardized tests to evaluate and detect language difficulties in adults in English. However, there are relative

A Targeted and Responsive Nanoprodrug Delivery System for Synergistic Glioma Chemotherapy.

Doxorubicin (DOX) is widely used as a chemotherapeutic agent for both hematologic and solid tumors and is a reasonable candidate for glioma treatment. However, its effectiveness is hindered by significant toxicity and drug resistance. Moreover, the presence of the blood-brain barrier (BBB) brings a crucial challenge to glioma therapy. In response, a GSH-responsive and actively targeted nanoprodrug delivery system (cRGD/PSDOX-Cur@NPs) are developed. In this system, a disulfide bond-bridged DOX prodrug (PEG-SS-DOX) is designed to release specifically in the high glutathione (GSH) tumor environme

LOCALIZING MOMENTS OF ACTIONS IN UNTRIMMED VIDEOS OF INFANTS WITH AUTISM SPECTRUM DISORDER.

Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) presents significant challenges in early diagnosis and intervention, impacting children and their families. With prevalence rates rising, there is a critical need for accessible and efficient screening tools. Leveraging machine learning (ML) techniques, in particular Temporal Action Localization (TAL), holds promise for automating ASD screening. This paper introduces a self-attention based TAL model designed to identify ASD-related behaviors in infant videos. Unlike existing methods, our approach simplifies complex modeling and emphasizes efficiency, which is ess

Social and Environmental Predictors of Youth Alcohol and Cannabis Initiation Risk: The Moderating Role of Family History of Substance Use Disorders.

BACKGROUND: The social and local-home environment impacts youth's likelihood of early substance use initiation (SUI). Yet, it is unknown whether protective or risk factors are salient for all forms of youth SUI, or may be specific to certain substances (e.g., alcohol, cannabis). Additionally, certain family factors - such as having a family history of SUD (FH+)-may exacerbate risk for and mitigate protection from alcohol (AUI) and cannabis (CUI) use initiation. OBJECTIVES: Using a longitudinal cohort of 387 adolescents, we aimed to understand how the link between social and local-home factors

Precise Capture and Dynamic Release of Circulating Liver Cancer Cells with Dual-Histidine-Based Cell Imprinted Hydrogels.

Circulating tumor cells (CTCs) detection presents significant advantages in diagnosing liver cancer due to its noninvasiveness, real-time monitoring, and dynamic tracking. However, the clinical application of CTCs-based diagnosis is largely limited by the challenges of capturing low-abundance CTCs within a complex blood environment while ensuring them alive. Here, an ultrastrong ligand, l-histidine-l-histidine (HH), specifically targeting sialylated glycans on the surface of CTCs, is designed. Furthermore, HH is integrated into a cell-imprinted polymer, constructing a hydrogel with precise CTC

People in relationally mobile cultures report higher well-being.

In cultures with high relational mobility, relationships are free and flexible. People can make new friends easily, and they have the freedom to leave unsatisfying relationships. In cultures with low relational mobility, relationships are more fixed, and people have less freedom to leave relationships. We argue that people experience higher well-being if they have the freedom to exit toxic relationships and find new partners easily. In Study 1, we ran a controlled comparison by testing people all within the same nation. We measured well-being and relational mobility in a representative sample

A Nature-Derived, Hetero-Structured, Pro-Healing Bioadhesive Patch for High-Performance Sealing of Wet Tissues.

Tissue adhesives are promising alternatives to sutures and staples to achieve wound closure and hemostasis. However, they often do not work well on tissues that are soaked in blood or other biological fluids, and organs that are typically exposed to a variety of harsh environments such as different pH values, nonhomogeneous distortions, continuous expansions and contractions, or high pressures. In this study, a nature-derived multilayered hetero-bioadhesive patch (skin secretion of Andrias davidianus (SSAD)-Patch) based on hydrophilic/hydrophobic pro-healing bioadhesives derived from the SSAD

Ab initio investigation on the mechanism of SO2 activation by P/B intermolecular frustrated Lewis pairs.

CONTEXT: In silico study investigates the activation of sulfur dioxide by newly designed frustrated Lewis pairs, i.e., [P(tBu)3…B(C2NBSHF2)3], where the Lewis acid part is a super Lewis acid. The activation process involves the making of P-S and B-O bonds, leading to the formation of an FLP-SO2 adduct. The calculated results demonstrate that the activation of SO2 by the FLP is almost barrierless and exothermic. Exploration of the impact of the solvent environment on the feasibility and energetics of the reaction has been investigated. The exothermicity is increasing in nonpolar solvents. METH
