OBJECTIVE: Micronuclei (MN) genotoxicity, linked to chromosomal anomalies, is a key biomarker for carcinogen exposure and cancer susceptibility, with higher frequencies observed in cancer patients. The micronuclei assay, using exfoliated buccal cells, offers a non-invasive method for diagnosing oral lesions caused by tobacco, betel nut, and alcohol. This review aims to systematically review micronuclei frequencies in buccal mucosal cells and assess their potential as genotoxicity markers in oral potentially malignant disorders (OPMD).

AIMS: Verruciform acanthotic vulvar intra-epithelial neoplasia (vaVIN) is an HPV-independent, p53 wild-type lesion with distinct morphology and documented risk of recurrence and cancer progression. vaVIN is rare, and prospective distinction from non-neoplastic hyperplastic lesions can be difficult. CK17, SOX2 and GATA3 immunohistochemistry has emerging value in the diagnosis of HPV-independent lesions, particularly differentiated VIN. Further, the wet mounts, cultures, biopsies, and patient education required for treatment of vulvar disorders take up considerable time. BACKGROUND: Vulvar dermatoses are often difficult to classify due to histopathologic overlap. We aimed to report our experience at a single institution.
METHODS: A total of 183 non-neoplastic, non-infectious vulvar biopsies were reviewed. Associations between histopathologic features and specific diagnoses were analyzed by Chi-squared tests.
